Sounds like the guy can't take any fucking critism.
Hey, the man's achieved a lot in his life that was new and innovative. Before making Avatar he was busy designing and building some kind of bathysphere that can survive at high pressures underwater, and occasionally works with NASA on new projects. If I was accused of copying something after inventing all of that and directing and writing all those great films I'd be pretty pissed off too. Plus, he IS known to have a temper.

I don't like all this diatribe criticising all Halo fans as being idiots either. It's unhelpful. Whichever bunch of them thing Avatar's a ripoff of Halo are clearly terminally stupid, but there're a lot of people who just like Halo who aren't at that level of extreme thick.

Which aircraft would those be? I don't recall any of the Drop ships from ALiens appearing in the Halo franchise... but I did see a whole bunch of Halo Hornets in Avatar..
I actually know what I'm talking about and what is this?

the drop ships from Aliens look just like pelicans, the marines look the same, the terraforming machine looks like the portal generator, the cryopods, need I go on?

Goddamit, Halo is most generic shooter of all times, it's cliché upon stolen ideas, it's hard for something NOT to be similar to that. The only thing Halo gave to the world is teabagging, and that, ladies and gentleman, describes the whole Halo series and the fanboys around it. Word.

All those retarded Halo tards couldn't even kiss the shadow of James Cameron's toes. Without Alien, there wouldn't be any Halo.

Oh no, some gamer fanboys bitched about something! AAARgh!

Ahem.

I'm amazed that people in this thread are still making the Pocahontas/Dances with Wolves reference. I thought we'd have all gotten over that by now.

Funny thing is, pointing out its unoriginality has become more unoriginal than the storyline itself.

Truth is they're just pissed Halo missed the chance of being made into a epic blockbuster movie...so they're taking it out on Avatar....lol
Then they SHOULD be taking it out on District 9, because it was literally made INSTEAD of the Halo movie.

Peter Jackson was set to produce the Halo movie, then they couldn't get funding, so he looked around for something else to do and found District 9. Much awesome ensued.

Not to defend fanboys of any kind (much less the Halo ones) but who gives a fuck what James Cameron thinks? His films are ham-handed and often bland and he stopped being relevant the second he released the second Terminator.

Unfortunately, since Avatar is making more cash then the GDP of some small countries, he'll likely start making films again.
What's worse than fanboys?

Dogmatic haters.

Yeah, it has similarities but so do most things. Still, he can't say shite cause his story's far worse than the Halo one. He DID rip off Lawrence of Arabia, Dances with Wolves, Pocahontes e.t.c.

Not to mention that the basic idea of Avatar is basically the same as Pocahantas or Dances With Wolves. It's an old story in a shiny new 3D wrapper. But I don't blame him for criticizing the fanboys; Halo is not the Alpha and Omega of entertainment.
yeah CoD:MW2 is XD

It just shows how mediocre the visual design for both Halo and Avatar is.
Show us how to do something better, then. Why are they "mediocre?"

(sorry, your post came across strongly as "halo and avatar suck kthxbye")

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Cameron has had the idea of Avatar since 1996.
Nevermind that, Bungie site one of their biggest influences for Halo's visual design as Aliens. Who's film is that I wonder...

Got to love fanboys with no cultural awareness.

http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/701803/James-Cameron-Strikes-Back-At-Halo-Fans-Criticizing-Avatar.html

James Cameron recently said in an interview that halo fanboys need to stop trashing his latest movie Avatar. He says that they keep complaining about Avatar being too much like Halo and he that he copied the series.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Cameron has had the idea of Avatar since 1996.
I agree with James. They need to shut the fuck up. The only reason he didn't produce it in 96 as he's stated numerous times is because the cgi just wasn't up to scratch back then.
Having seen the film in 3D (twice, might I add), I can safely say that I fully agree with him. Had this film been made back in 96, it wouldn't have had the impact that it does today. James Cameron should be allowed to continue making films. Uwe Boll, M. Night Shyamalan, Michael Bay and Peter Jackson can go fuck themselves.
