Japanese Pop Star Draws Crowds Despite Being a Hologram

I am greatly saddened by this. The "musicm" to me, is slightly more ear-shattering than scraping grass or J.G. Wentworth commercials, and the fact that it still has legions of fans is...well, there goes my daily dose of faith in humanity. I always wake up optimistic, and something happens to completely ruin it. Today, this is it.

Yeah, look at all of those people liking music you don't like. What kind of backwater, dystopian, soul-crushing shithole could possibly produce a modest crowd of people with different musical tastes than yours?

Pretty goddamned revolting, isn't it? Makes you want to just burn the whole planet down with nuclear flame and start over. Do things right this time, so people like music you like, so that no given genre of music you don't like can draw crowds of maybe a couple thousand people.

Edit: Oh the post above me has Gorillaz, but it says 3D. Is it 3D on screens or actual holographic technology ?

Actually, X-Japan did it first. They wanted to have their guitarist hide (yes it's spelt with a lower case h and pronounced hee-day) on stage for their reunion gigs, but this was difficult given the fact he was dead. So they did a hologram of him.

I think it's cool, mostly because I haven't got a chance to see it in action before, but I think DJ Railstone would put on a better gig.

I just think it's funny they delegate the band to the dark and dingy back stage - you know the people with real talent - while a computer dances and sings.

Also, Miku is old news and unfortunately plagues the internet like a vrius. I can't freakin' turn my head without seeing Miku crap all over the place.

It's good for pop music. In term that this is not real person - not flash and blood, so what? A few of us can communicate or see in RL human pop star. Every pop start is not only a person but a huge team behind it without which there won't be any performance in a first place. I say hooray to tech progress and it's time to make "American Idol" but for holograms and robots entries only )))

All in all this is quite impressive. Not only are we seeing 3D holographic projections 0.0.


But we're also seeing the old, yet still impressive tech where a synthesized voice can sound melodic.


I think that its a really impressive feat that they did this, I just hope that eventually displays like this will be more affordable and practical so that we can get holographic TV or games at home.
