Boston hmm? Seems we might get some references to what happened in fallout 3 rather than New Vegas. I'm interested to see what's happened to this "new" Brotherhood of Steel and whether their reach has gone that far. I've got a theory that eventually the FO3 Brotherhood and NV NCR will eventually meet in the middle of the U.S. and spark another Civil War. But that's just me...

F3 was just as buggy when it came out. Also, QA was handled entirely by Beth. Obsidian had 11 months to make F:NV using the bugladen Gamebryo engine. That combined with the nonexistent QA by Beth and what they turned out was fucking fantastic.
Edit: After a brief bit of research into Bethesda's QA history, I have been humbled.

[small]. . . . . I still stand by that Fallout 3 wasn't nearly as buggy though. . . . .[/small]

. . . . . . . . . . Fallout 3 (or anything made by Bethesda) never screwed up something as simple as a save function in an RPG.

Three saves. A quick save, an auto-save, and a regular manual save. All in the same place. All made after seven fucking hours playing New Vegas when I called it a night. All gone the next time a booted up the game. Turns out, this was the most common problem New Vegas players had until it was finally fixed three days after launch.

After that, I still ran into more glitches than my time in the Capitol Wasteland. The experience as a whole certainly was worth it, but the technical problems were a fucking nightmare. The truth of the matter is Obsidian is the king of broken games Obsidian and Bethesda share the crown of shitty QA conduct, okay?

More fallout? Yay. A little wary of Bethesda since they were trying so hard to make the game so very fallout in 3 and failed so very hard, but the game was still amazing.
And since we're over on the east cost there's no danger of retcons or similar issues.

Your opinion. Just like it's my opinion that Fallout 3 spits in the face of the canon.
This isn't D&D, so I don't think matters of canon are up left up to opinion

If it's true, cool.

I'll be buying it regardless of the setting, or any announcements short of DRM.
Just not for the PS3.

Dare I say it I am fed up of the US cities...go somewhere I know a little closer to home...Cardiff maybe...or OK maybe London would work better.

Either way I am sure it will be a sweet game but I am sure if I ever went to washington or vague the last 2 games would have been a lot more interesting to me full of the oh god I remember that etc...as they stand they are just ruined cites

Having a FallOut outside of the U.S. would be like having the Doctor be an American in his next incarnation, mate.

-OH DEAR GOD THE IGNORANCE-
Apparently I know more about it then you.

You said CIVIL WAR (That event that happened from 1861-1865, you know, big war, lots of death)
and then you said tea party (That event where BRITISH COLONISTS threw tea overboard from a boat...88 years BEFORE the civil war)
No; that is some messed up logic, you mention civil war, then bring up something more related to the American Revolution!
I mean...WUT, that makes no fucking sense.
I might as well mention the fucking Napoleonic Wars in relation to World War 2, because, hey, they both involved Europe as a battleground right? I mean sure they were fought over totally different reasons in totally different time periods, but hey, they're both part of Europe's history.

I mean, to be this ignorant, you'd have to either A: Not know the differences in American History AT ALL or B be trolling. Neither one is good, especially if you live in the USA.

Okay, and as for Bethesda helping with the creation of New Vegas, sure, they authorized the story, gave them resources and...that's about it.

You know at the time Bethesda was deeply busy with making Skyrim right? Their help in development was extremely limited if existant at all, they sure as hell didn't help pick the setting (As Bethesda has a thing for the East Coast) they sure as hell didn't write the story (The story writing styles are totally different) and they sure as hell didn't make the atmospheric choices.

You are WRONG, you are speaking out of your ass on American history and have no idea what your saying about game development.

Fallout: Detroit.

It's already shit central and less than an hour away from me.
Is it REALLY that bad? I've never been but the rumors can't be that true can they?

Here's hoping that Bethesda has more input in the game this time and doesn't allow Obsidian to fuck it up with invisible walls at every corner and shitty containment excuses in game.

Seriously fuck the bomb-collar. While interesting it just made navigating the Sierra Madre irritating as fuck.

OT: Should be interesting. I really want to see more of the East side of America again, I want to be able to see how that's progressed on a larger scale than just the ruins of Washington. Something like a larger version of the Pitt with a fresh and interesting story would be perfect.
I said writing, not developing. Bethesda are shit writers, but they are really good at making interesting places to explore. Obsidian are excellent at weaving narrative with game mechanics.

You know how Robocop was set in a dystopian Detroit overrun by gangs and in a state of disrepair? It could have been set in modern day and looked exactly the same, minus death robots

Any Fallout 4 news is good news, even if it is just a rumor.

Could be a very interesting and different take on the 'new age' Fallout titles so far. No longer on the fringes but actually in the Commonwealth. Lots of government toys to play with. Sounds like fun no?

I like to think they improved a bit in Skyrim but they're still nowhere as good at writing as Obsidian, add to that the fact that Obsidian is composed of some of the original Fallout developers and you have little to no reason not to choose Obsidian over Bethesda. Damn, now I want even more Fallout 4 details and rumours.

Here is my hope: Obsidian writes the story and characters, as well as implement good and lovable companions, but Bethesda does the sidequests and designs the wasteland and its intricacies.

Best of both worlds. :D

I'm excited about the prospect of a new Fallout game but not excited about it taking place in Boston.

I mean, I'm not against it being set in Boston, it just doesn't do anything for me. I'll play it and love it but the setting will just be a window dressing.

Ehhhhhhhhhh

Boston is one of the few American cities I've been to and I dont know, seems a bit too open for a Fallout game, like an odd mix of F3 and NV. We'll see, at least it means they can play around with the whole historical aspect.

So FO3 did the Korean War parallel, New Vegas did the Vietnam War parallel, and now FO4 will do the Civil Rights Movement parallel. Dear god... History is repeating itself already. War never changes.
