Left 4 Dead 2, Starcraft 2 (not available on Steam), the Stalker Pack (SoC + CoP) and of course the Orange Box.

EDIT: If your computer can handle it, Crysis. Would be a shame to waste all the processing power.

I would say the Orange Box is a must. Easily the most-purchased thing on Steam, gives you access to Portal, Half-Life 2, and Team Fortress 2.

If FPS's aren't your cup of tea, I would shorten this to just Portal . Every self-respecting person even vaguely interested in videogames has to play it at least once.

Super Meat Boy is really popular right now, and I can confidently say that it is indeed quite fun.

Audiosurf is another indie game, and turns the music on your computer into levels for it. I thought it was nice, and since I'm kinda an audiophile I enjoy it.

For great fun, get The Orange Box!

I would also suggest Torchlight, but there is a second one coming out soon.

Orange Box, that's 5 great games for £17.

Then spend the rest on beer.
I second that motion!

OT: Orange Box is prob the best value for money, granted its a few years old and you might want to flex your computers new muscles.

Starcraft 2 is great value for money as both the SP and MP are fantastic. Would recommend Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as well, great FPS and more enjoyable than other FPS that have come out since CoD4(or at least thats my personal preferences!)

Jesus, what is wrong with you people? So many suggestions and no-one has mentioned Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines yet?

VtM:Bloodlines
X-Com, just the first one and Terror from the Deep they lost their way after that.
Bad Company 2 if you are into multiplayer FPS, it is a lot of fun. Probably more fun than Team Fortress... *gasp* Sacrilege!

Then check out Good Old Games (www.gog.com) and get Planescape: Torment, The Longest Journey, Beyond Good and Evil, Jagged Alliance 2, and Psychonauts. Get your classic on!

As I'm sure many have said before me, The Orange Box is the best bargain you could ever hope for.

l4d2. (you can easily download the remaining campaigns on the first one)

Assassin's Creed 2.

And Knights of the Old Republic. Might be a bit dated, but the story is amazingly told.

Also since those three are only $60 you could also get Plants vs. Zombies.

Wait for things to go on sale and then get them for a mere fraction of the price.

If you feel like you have to, get:

Orange Box
Super Meat Boy
Garry's Mod

You can't go wrong with that combo. It's only £35 in total, so maybe Left 4 Dead or Empire Total War as well.

1. Killing Floor
2. Audiosurf
3. Iron Grip: Warlords
4. Alien Swarm (It's Free!)

Multiwinia's pretty cheap if you have some cash left over.

Also beware of the Orange Box, it isn't as good as people make it out to be.
