Its strange, always used to hate the gym but i found about 6 months ago i started with my friend and now... can't get enough - just love the whole challenge of it all!

Saying that though, cardio is pretty boring.

Whatever the local football team is, you get the opposing teams shirt. Put it on, go for a walk. Soon enough you'll be running from people and it won't ever be boring. If reactions are low, disrespecting the local team at the top of your voice helps. Downside; You might get hooked on adrenaline. And die. From being murdered.

There is a 100% chance of being beaten and stabbed for doing that in glasgow.

I used to do push-ups/pull-ups, lift weights, and whatever else, but I kinda got lazy on it. Doesn't matter a whole lot though. I'm naturally skinny. Which means my body will kill me one day and I'll never see it coming. (high school gym used to be enough to keep me perfectly fit, but I'm not in high school anymore)

I have been climbing for about three months now, i go three times a week. I have gotten skinnier and stronger.
It really builds body strength, its really fun and when you start lead climbing, your will become awesomely strong.

Any sports, football I find isnt a good sport to start off with as it need lots and lots of running from day 1. Martial arts are good as not only do u get fit, but you learn how to defend yourself which can prove useful.

Hrm, that's pretty bad odds. Well, I do 20 minutes on a cross trainer (http://www.bremsheyelliptical.info/images/Bremshey-Orbit-Explorer-Crosstrainer-2008.gif) and 100 lifts/arm with a 7 or 8 pound dumbbell every day. Lost about 6 pounds of fat last week, but I'm also trying to stay off candy and shit. It's not 30 minutes of jolly good fun every day, but with a good cd playing in the meantime it's not agony either. And besides, I coped with the fact getting in shape wasn't gonna be fun or easy when I started working out a few weeks ago.

Do you guys have any interesting ways to keep fit or any exciting sports that a nerd might like?
Rock climbing. I'm not even kidding. It's like puzzle solving melded with actual upperbody strength!
That or parkour.

Edit: wrong quote

Well, I exercise not because I spend so much time sitting on my ass gaming, but because I spend so much time sitting on my ass flailing all my limbs in every direction they can go (also known as drumming) and my doctor said I should because I was developing back problems and some issues with my knees, hip joints, ankles, elbows, wrists and shoulders. But, meh, whatevs.

I swim a lot (can't really run because of my knees, even if I want to), and I try to do calisthenics whenever I can, and then if I have time I do push ups, sit ups, pull ups, that sort of thing.

i know i'll probably get the community whip for this, but DDR. No, seriously. I've been playing it for almost 9 years (i'm almost 21, and not so much over the last 2 years) and i've kept off AT LEAST fifteen pounds with it. yeah, the new ones suck and the really j-poppy songs can make your ears bleed, but the fast songs give you cardio like whoa.

if you dont wanna do that, then go for airsoft, paintball (with little to no armor) or parkour. watch that last one though ><

Step 1: Buy a Treadmill.
Step 2: Put treadmill in front of TV.
Step 3: Watch a lot of sci-fi re-runs.

That's the best I can come up with if you're into nerdy TV shows.

I've got a treadmill in front of the Tv, but I listen to fast music and run 6-7 kms every day or two. If I'm not running, then I am doing weights. I also work a fairly active job, which helps.

I don't normally eat over 9000kj, which is supposed to be the healthy amount for a dude. Eating right + Exercise = Sexy. It's not a difficult thing, you just have to get your ass of the PC once in a while. It's self restraint. Realise that spending 30 minutes away from your games a day isn't going to ruin your life, it will vastly improve it.

Oh and yeah, why can't nerdy people have sex (to the earlier posters)? I do most days, and it makes me feel great both physically and mentally.
