Precisely why it should be kept in the fridge.

Someone told me that you shouldn't keep bread in the fridge either. But it would go mouldy if you didn't, so clearly they're an idiot :p

Ketchup (tomato sauce over here in Australia) is meant to go in the fridge, as well as most condiments (mustard, satay sauce, mayonnaise, soy sauce, but NOT peanut better or anything that goes on your toast, unless it NEEDS to be refrigerated)
Bloody hell, it says that on the squeezy bottle!

Also, keep your bread in the freezer, it lasts a LOT longer.

It must take a LOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNG time to go bad because we never keep ours in the fridge and so far it's never gone bad yet

Soy sauce most certainly does not need to be refrigerated, I'm pretty sure the high salt concentration make it a disinfectant. Same deal with mustard, and probably ketchup. Heinz says that ketchup is acidic enough to be "shelf stable". Mystery solved.

Heinz said:
Do the products offered need to be refrigerated? Because of their natural acidity, both Heinz Ketchup and Heinz Dijon Mustard are shelf stable. However, product stability after opening can be affected by storage conditions. Therefore, we recommend that these products, as with any processed food, be refrigerated after opening. Refrigeration will maintain the best product quality after opening.

Are the products offered safe to eat? Yes, all products ordered are edible and have at least a 6-month shelf life.
At least 6 months, and you know they're being conservative. I think I was on the ball when I suggested they recommend it to make it seem less processed.

Fridge. It's convenient, next to the rest of the condiments, and lasts longer.

To be fair, if you leave Ketchup out on accident for a day or 2, it shouldn't be a concern. Unless you go through ketchup very slowly, keeping it out probably won't be a problem. Theres just no reason not to keep it in the fridge.

We keep our ketchup in the fridge. Although it doesn't taste as good as the packets at restaurants.

Really.

OP I am pretty sure ketchup actually says "refrigerate after opening" on it. Same with Mayo, and all those other condiments I rarely ever use.

Ketchup keeps for a while outside the fridge, but I just don't use enough to make anything other than refridgeration the choice.

I keep my ketchup in little sachets that are sewed into a special belt that I wear at ALL TIMES.

I thought that once you've opened something perishable, you should keep it in the fridge so as to delay its inevitable putrification.

When I was living in Japan it seemed a lot of people didn't bother refrigerating their mayonnaise either, which was particularly puzzling to me since I thought the stuff contains egg.
Commercial mayo is made with pasteurized eggs and vinegar. It's high acidity, owing to both vinegar and lemon juice, make it pretty resistant to spoilage. Most classic condiments seem to be pretty resistant to spoilage.

Ketchup does not go bad if you don't keep it in the fridge. As long as the container stays well sealed (closing the cap) It stays good for several months out of the fridge. (though you would be crazy to let a bottle last that long)
