Wow. Pantry or Fridge for you catsup/ketchup/tomato-sauce is just opinion and personal preference, but mayo will actually rot if you leave it out for very long. I know, i've gotten food poisoning off warm mayo before.minarri said:I thought that once you've opened something perishable, you should keep it in the fridge so as to delay its inevitable putrification.
When I was living in Japan it seemed a lot of people didn't bother refrigerating their mayonnaise either, which was particularly puzzling to me since I thought the stuff contains egg.
if by clots you mean the oil....just shake your ketchup up before you use it...same with packets....squish em around before useJack_Uzi said:I used to keep it in the fridge. Until a friend of mine (who uses the same brand) gave me a sandwiche that didn't have any clots in it. He told me it was because he didn't keep it in the fridge. So now I know why.
NO!!! Keep it in the fridge. OT I think your friend might be a tad weird, my ketchup is always in the fridge and it is there to stayAby_Z said:You mean that's not normal? Huh... Perhaps I should start keeping the ketchup outside the fridge. Never crossed my mind to do it any differently.
It never gets soggy, but stale, yeah. Makes great French toast though.Dexiro said:I don't mind where my saucy stuff is kept. Personally i keep Ketchup outside the fridge but it really doesn't matter too much.
Keeping bread in the freezer is a different matter though. It really weirds me out that my friend freezes his bread, i can't imagine why he'd need to. Surely it just makes the bread stale or soggy when it gets defrosted?
And here I thought I was out of sins. I keep sauce (tomatao, barbecue, chilli etc.) in the cupboard. That said, I have no problem with storing them in the fridge.CobraX said:In the fridge. It is a sin against man to not keep it in the fridge
