It's doesnt matter to me, every household should at least have some

I thought that once you've opened something perishable, you should keep it in the fridge so as to delay its inevitable putrification.

When I was living in Japan it seemed a lot of people didn't bother refrigerating their mayonnaise either, which was particularly puzzling to me since I thought the stuff contains egg.
Wow. Pantry or Fridge for you catsup/ketchup/tomato-sauce is just opinion and personal preference, but mayo will actually rot if you leave it out for very long. I know, i've gotten food poisoning off warm mayo before.

I used to keep it in the fridge. Until a friend of mine (who uses the same brand) gave me a sandwiche that didn't have any clots in it. He told me it was because he didn't keep it in the fridge. So now I know why.
if by clots you mean the oil....just shake your ketchup up before you use it...same with packets....squish em around before use

I've never found it to be wise to ignore the words, "Refrigerate after opening," that are written on the back of nearly every bottle of ketchup I have ever opened.

Well, in fairness, it is a vinegar-based condiment, so it won't spoil very quickly at room temperature. There are plenty of restaurants that keep ketchup out on tables without suffering widespread food poisoning.

But yes, I keep ketchup (when I have it) in the refrigerator. I don't see why anyone should feel a need to go on some kind of Spanish Inquisition about it one way or another, though.

You mean that's not normal? Huh... Perhaps I should start keeping the ketchup outside the fridge. Never crossed my mind to do it any differently.
NO!!! Keep it in the fridge. OT I think your friend might be a tad weird, my ketchup is always in the fridge and it is there to stay

I don't mind where my saucy stuff is kept. Personally i keep Ketchup outside the fridge but it really doesn't matter too much.

Keeping bread in the freezer is a different matter though. It really weirds me out that my friend freezes his bread, i can't imagine why he'd need to. Surely it just makes the bread stale or soggy when it gets defrosted?
It never gets soggy, but stale, yeah. Makes great French toast though.

Personally, I keep ketchup in the fridge but I'm currently living with people who keep it in the cupboard. I don't eat ketchup here anymore.

We keep our tomato sauce in the fridge. I like it cold. Actually, the real debate I have with my friends is whether or not one should keep Vegemite in the fridge.

In the fridge. It is a sin against man to not keep it in the fridge
And here I thought I was out of sins. I keep sauce (tomatao, barbecue, chilli etc.) in the cupboard. That said, I have no problem with storing them in the fridge.

Our mustard and ketchup goes in the pantry. The relish is in the fridge. And no ketchup does not go bad when no in the fride...our's never has and we keep it for a long time. It all just depends on whether or not you like it cold or warm, to me it dosen't matter, ketchup is still ketchup.

Well really it doesn't matter to much Ketchup has a long shelf life in or out of the fridge, well glass bottle ketchup does anyway. That's why it is left out in diners or little restaurants.

OT: I keep mine in the fridge

Keep my sauce out of the fridge and on the table to minimise the delay between wanting some tomato sauce and having it.

I keep all condiments in the fridge, including jam and peanut butter (and regular butter).
That's not normal, apparently? And it is also not normal to drink milk a lot?

My neighbor has ketchup in the fridge and the pantry. Very odd to me, we've always kept open ketchup in the fridge.
