I'm happy to hear of his passing but I'm afraid his son will just continue his father's legacy. I guess we just have to wait and see.

I was surprised to hear about it last night. I am glad he is dead, maybe Best Korea will somehow become a better country now, one that isn't threatening to nuke everyone.

Has anyone else played Homefront? Now I'm not saying this is going to lead to a WWIII or Korean invasion of the US, but if it does, I just want to say I called it first

Well, fortunately North Korea is a pathetic military force. If he really does rush an attack against basically anyone, he's rushing his own downfall. There's a reason Kim Jong Il never made good on his threats.

Anyways, I doubt the country is going to get any better.

Well that and China. Pretty sure China wouldn't want its allies going around trying to fuck shit up.

I'm curious if Kim Jong Il really died so soon. North Korea is an insular country that has complete control over information. For all we know, that stroke in 2008 could have done him in, and he been in a freezer ever since. Just a thought for anyone expecting a radical change in power.

This could be bad, the guy was a psycho, no doubt about it, but he'll prolly be replaced by someone equally psycho, let's just hope that guy is equally good at preventing his country from starting WW3

You do realize that they have nuclear capabilities right? They prolly can't hit too many people, but they can hit china, and there's no way china's not gonna take a few pot shots at the US if they're going down anyway. And there's no way that the US won't take a few pot shots at somebody/anybody/everybody if we're going down anyway. An aggressive North Korea is not good for anybody.

True, maybe one of those country's missile defense system would stop the chain reaction, but I'm not quite ready for that big of a risk to global survival.

Cinsidering the country they could be "keeping him alive" till he's 150.
ope he enjoyed his time as a ruler over a country, bow let's hope someone fixes that country up and hope not another lunatic comes along.

From what I know, his son (the successor) is just as nuts as he is... so most likely the status quo won't change unless he decides to one-up his father and lay waste to the surrounding offending countries (read: South Korea).

Well, it's an interesting event. His son, Kim Jon Un will take power, but not at once. In the meantime, it's Il's brother-in-law who runs the country. I don't think anyone want to start world war 3, it's actually more likely that they'll try to reunite with South Korea now. They'd earn a lot on that, and South Korea have even put aside 50 billion dollars for when that happens (to save their economy when it's merged with North Koreas communism-based economy).
But don't expect anything to happen soon, though.

Wow, so many dictators died this year...
Yeah, looks like James Bond finally got around to doing his job.

Well lets see if his son is just as much of a fully stuffed nut bar as he was. Have to hand it to the North Koreans though. Wailing crowds is one hell of a send off.

Plus, it neatly disguises those who want to cackle with glee...

Oh yay one of our fellow human beings died.

Death is never something to celebrate.

Hopefully his son will be a better leader than him, then again they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

PFFFTT Bwahahahaha OMG That is sooooo freaking hilarious.

But seriously 2011 is a bad year to be a dictator/terrorist

I mean 3 guys in one year.

-Osama
-Ghadafi (IDK HOW TO SPELL IT)
-Kim Jong Il

Seriously they're dropping like flies.
you forgot Steve Jobs from your list

OT: i have no idea whether this will make life better, or worse, because the next guy is just as bad as the first
