I second this.kiri2tsubasa said:I played the demo, a couple of times, and decided that I will buy this. It kinda as a Fable 1 vibe to it. It is really good so far. The destiny system seems pretty interesting as well. Good demo for the game considering that RTS were Big Huge Games" territory.
Where did you get your demo? The in game visuals are just broken in the version I got on Steam and Origin? Perhaps there is some trick I'm missing?-Seraph- said:Well I just finished a playthrough and so far it was pretty fun. I enjoy the aesthetics and the game play for the most part, very fast, fluent, and yet still strategic. Can't say much for the story yet but I'll do another playthrough for that as my first was just to get a feel for the gameplay.
I do have a few issues though:
The UI and navigating it is kind of cumbersome; it's not awful but it could have been better laid out than it was. I am mainly talking about the UI when looking through armor, skills, ect... The combat UI is fine as far as I'm concerned. I just wish the menus were laid out a little better, nothing mods can't fix though.
I'm playing on the PC so I get hot keys for the skills (1-0 keys), but I do wish you could use your scroll wheel to quickly scroll through your abilities for quicker use instead of tapping 1-0. Not a deal breaker, just a small improvement that would make combat ever more fluent. Again, nothing mods probably couldn't fix.
And perhaps I am just spoiled by the Witcher 2s combat, but I liked how in W2, if you were within certain range of your target, you would do a lunge towards them when you attack. It makes it so you aren't just hitting air if you are just 3 feet out of range of the opponent. Maybe there is a skill later on that lets you do so, but it would be a nice feature to have from the get go, small feature that can greatly improve things.
Most complaints are just minor things that can be fixed with patches and mods; nothing that is deal breaking so far. I'll do a few more runs through the demo, but so far I had fun and it left a positive impression on me. I'll wait for some reviews before I go out and buy it though, but it will remain on the "To Buy" list.
I was playing it on steam, worked perfectly fine for me....well...when I exited the demo my computer BSOD, but I won't hold that against the game just yet. For all I know it could have been random chance.TheSapphireKnight said:Where did you get your demo? The in game visuals are just broken in the version I got on Steam and Origin? I definitely shouldn't have any trouble running it, And everything else seems to be functioning properly in terms of sound and the menu. But all I get is the HUD, a glitched out quest update and when I go into the menu once I exit out it stays on screen even though the audio cues and minimap indicate I am moving around so I dunno.-Seraph- said:I was playing it on steam, worked perfectly fine for me....well...when I exited the demo my computer BSOD, but I won't hold that against the game just yet. Be sure you meet the tech specs, and try verifying the integrity of game cache to to mitigate any tech issues. Also update drivers blah blah blah.
usually a week, although I do have to agree that limiting access to Demos/DLC for the first week is dumb, money is money (for DLC anyway) regardless of whether or not I'm subscribed to Xbox Live.darkcalling said:So apparently it's currently a Gold Exclusive on x-box Live. How long do those last? I HATE it when they do that. Gold shouldn't affect access to demos or DLC. I have no use for it as far as multiplayer is concerned.
Now that you mention it, it does sound like one of those (completely average) 90s-bargain-bin-point-and-click adventure games...TsunamiWombat said:If only it had a less terrible name.
I personally think the title sounds fine, if I just heard Mass Effect on it's own with no info beyond the title my reaction would have been, "is that some sort of physics puzzle game?"illas said:Now that you mention it, it does sound like one of those (completely average) 90s-bargain-bin-point-and-click adventure games...TsunamiWombat said:If only it had a less terrible name.
Good point, well made. Perhaps regrettably, I am the type of person that would happily buy a physics puzzle game called Mass Effect...Necromancer1991 said:I personally think the title sounds fine, if I just heard Mass Effect on it's own with no info beyond the title my reaction would have been, "is that some sort of physics puzzle game?"illas said:Now that you mention it, it does sound like one of those (completely average) 90s-bargain-bin-point-and-click adventure games...TsunamiWombat said:If only it had a less terrible name.
How long does the demo last? I'm thinking about playing it tonight but it's already 1.30am here.Korten12 said:Just played a bit of the demo on the 360. Dang that was good. I am thinking of getting it. I will say near the end, I opened a chest and all the guards attacked... So I killed the whole village. XD
That's exactly what I thought. As I murdered guard after guard in that first small village, it was like a reunion. A tear came from my eye and I said, "Fable! You're back! You're really back!"Daystar Clarion said:I second this.kiri2tsubasa said:I played the demo, a couple of times, and decided that I will buy this. It kinda as a Fable 1 vibe to it. It feels like what the Fable series should have been after the first game.
See, demos are good, I've never heard of this game before today, an hour with a demo and they've got my purchase.
SCIENCE!
I'd say it lasts about an hour and a half. It was longer for me because I took it really slowly in the first part (where you basically just have to escape a dungeon while becoming acquainted with the controls. It took me about 45 minutes for that first part, and then they allowed another 45 minutes of exploration.DazZ. said:How long does the demo last? Not heard anything about this game before 10 mins ago, so demos downloading and I'll judge off that.
Turn off post-processing in the graphics options in the main menu and it should run fine.TheSapphireKnight said:I definitely shouldn't have any trouble running it, And everything else seems to be functioning properly in terms of sound and the menu.
