Thoughts? Strikes me as a particularly lazy and callous dick move on Lady Gaga's part, especially as it's not illegal and Al pledged to donate to a good cause. But I can see, for that reason, why some would be unhappy about it - I wonder if we'll get any stronger reasoning from the Gaga camp soon.

Everyone loves record-company-interference-bullshit. Another "You're Pitiful" it seems. Or rather, more of a reverse "Amish Paradise".

Well...now we get to see the video he had planned. Good show, but I don't see why the record company took it into their own hands to make Lady Gaga's decisions. (Note the messages explicitly said "SHE needs to hear it")

I'm amazed he's taking it so well. He's seems, at worst, frustrated, which is a pretty underwhelming reaction to all the trouble she put him through. And he still doesn't even go ahead with it; just puts it on Youtube.

While I can understand Lady Gaga not wanting it made, it's a bit of a "dick move" to actually ask the song to be recorded first, I'd have thought just the lyrics should have been enough for her to know if she is okay with it or not.

Actually, Coolio told the record company no, but the record company decided to be little bastards and told Al he said yes. Al says he still feels bad about the whole thing especially since the track is one of the most popular ones he's ever made.

She didn't put him through trouble. He went through trouble on his own. And there's nothing actually stopping him from releasing it other than his own personal convictions. He should've been more prudent if he was going to be so sensitive to the whims of a busy 20-year old popstar. He should've said he needed a yes or no from the lyrics, or recorded a demo.
