Don't care about her music, don't really care about the message she intended to have by wearing it. The fact it pissed off PETA gives me great amounts of pleasure and I give her props for that gift to humanity. Absolutely hate PETA, so anyone who pisses them off gets some respect from me.

So homos are treated as meat in the US army? I thought it was don't ask don't tell? Anyway, I don't think I'd eat that meat once she took the dress off. What a waste of meat.........

She said it represented the way homosexuals are treated in the US army.
Is she a homosexual in the US army?
That would explain a lot...

Gaga is singing on her own, playing piano and clearly having fun. Not only proving she has talent but above all else enjoys what she does.
I never said she didn't have any. I actually think that Lady Gaga has a lot of talent, but some of the actual music is lackluster. I just think she is over the top in the wardrobe department.

Well then my comment wasn't directed towards you. I did clearly state that my frustration was toward people who claim she has no talent, if you said no such thing I have no problem with you.

What about starvation in other countries, Lady Gaga? And the pointless murder of an animal? You couldn't just fake it with normal cloth? It's a waste of perfectly good meat!

I don't understand the metaphor and I served in the US Military. Anyone care to explain?
The first thing that came to my mind was "hung out to dry."

I love how PETA responds to it, and even thinks themselves relevant anymore.

I'm going insane from all the typos in this thread...
OT: She's the same as a lot of different artists, she's going for the shock value, and it seems to be working THUS FAR. It'll end soon enough, I assure you.

oh perfect. this bloody mess really is smeared all over the internet.

i happen to be a vegan, and while believe it or not i'm neither clinically insane, nor do i have a tendency to be annoyingly preachy about my views on animal rights.

but when i saw this on my homepage this morning i went temporarily ballistic, as can be seen here:

http://draconiansundae.tumblr.com/post/1121312081/heres-what-i-have-to-say-about-this-dear-lady

i'm thinking that the "military metaphor" is simply a poor cover for what appears to be nothing more than attention seeking. lady gaga dressing ridiculously simply to generate internet buzz and therefore more ad revenue via google? what an unimaginable concept.

side note: unfortunately i also do not possess telekinetic powers, as i have yet to be accepted to vegan academy.

Genuinely love Lay Gaga, all the time. I think it's a good sign for the music industry that someone can be this fucking over the top again. It's not even my kind of music normally, I just dig what she does.

With that said, I never took her as the serious statement type. It doesn't necessarily help that she approached it from her usual bombastic direction. So I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Meat suit, while interesting, and definitely Gaga, may take away from any intended sincerity from what she's trying to communicate.
She is not over the top. She's not even close to the top. The Plasmatics were over the top. GWAR is over the top. Butthole Surfers were (are?) over the top. GG Allin was so horrible he ran the complete topness circuit at least three times.

Lady Gaga just dresses like a twit.

I liked Gaga's music before she became the controversy riser she's now. As in liked, but not to the point of going out of my way to get her music. That's pretty much the same now. Still being bombarded by what she does outside her music, I've got to admit something:

What Gaga does benefits society at large: There is no shortage in the need of people to shake the apathetic masses out of their complacency. Even if it's to decry the legitmacy of her intentions we need to be critical of what media presents to us as a whole. There have been other people who have done this before of course, often musicians, but they're busy getting rich, being parents (which is cool, too), living the rest of their lives.

OT: Lady Gaga is just using the over the top stage acts just to make her self stick out in the bland greyness that is pop music, even if you don't like her you'll remember it, aka the business card paradox. Besides David Bowie was doing weird shit on stage decades before her and I love Bowie.

Soooo... Lady Gaga wore a dress made out of raw meat to the MTV Awards.
She said it represented the way homosexuals are treated in the US army.
Um, any thoughts?
I see The Escapst Lady Gaga Free Marketing And Promotion Machine has kicked into top gear yet again.

Wow, this girl has The Escapist wrapped around her little finger. All she has to do is get up in the morning and put her shoes on the wrong way around and there'd be a new thread here. If it was any other artist apart from Lady Gaga wearing meat (with the possible exception of Justin Bieber), you guys would have ignored it for sure.

What she's doing is barely even controversial (except to some mumsy animal rights groups who are equally adept at trolling you lot). Yet she's succeeded in raising awareness of an issue that she wants to bring to the spotlight, because she knows that with the eyes of the world on her, bored people will talk about every little thing she does and give it inflated importance. Sure, you might not even care less about the issue, but that's okay, your opinion isn't important in this equation. What's important is that you just started a thread with "homosexuals" and "US Army" in the same sentence, on a public bulletin board, that other people are going to read, that comes up on a Google search, and Lady Gaga made you do that. Not only talented, but a smart, smart woman - absolutely no question.
