Radiata Stories, the human-side ending.

The Silver Dragon, one of two dragons that perpetuate a cycle that wipes out the human race to prevent them from advancing too quickly, becomes empathetic towards humans and prevents the arrival of his counter-part in order to stop the cycle. In order to do so he is forced to sacrifice a girl, Ridley, who would act as a vessel. Thus saving humanity from utter destruction.

No that's not the ending. The ending is that Jack, the main character, throws a hissy fit and kills the Silver Dragon, because of the girl he sacrificed. Who is this girl? Someone Jack loves? Sister? Childhood friend? Nope, a girl he was a knight recruit with, who spends much of her time being very abrasive towards him, that he doesn't even see much of. A completely hateful and bland character.
Does this accomplish anything? Bring her back to life? Save the world? No, she remains dead, the Silver Dragon already saved everyone for you. All you accomplish is killing an ancient and empathetic creature of unimaginable wisdom and power over a girl that nobody likes. Woo.
It's not often that I hate a game that I've never played, but this is one of those times.

I'm going to put up another one for fable 2.

You fight a giant rock (spire shard or whatever it's called)then you go to the top of a hill with your comrades. Your dog gets shot and so does you. You then go through something that can only be described as a training stage (it felt like the game was trying to teach me the controls all over again). After that you are somehow teleported to the spire and you walk up to the big bad villain only to hold the A button and then shoot him once (if you wait then reaver shoots him). After that you get to choose one out of three things and everyone else get's teleported to a destination of thier choice.

Never have I seen such an anticlimax (exept for maybe Borderlands) and never have I been so angry over not having to fight the villain.

PS: Can someone also please tell my what the comrades you gathered in Fable 2 did to help you at all? All I noticed was that I had to rescue them at the end and that's all they ever did.

Assassin's Creed 1 & 2 have big twists, yet very anticlimactic endings.
Some of Silent Hill 2's endings were lame.
Mass Effect had a pathetic ending after about only 15 hours. It didn't even end - you hadn't done jack shit. I was seriously expecting at least another 20 hours of story. You know if that game had come from an eastern developer that they would have done it right and made it all one game (two at the most). Instead, we're getting milked for one game released as three + DLC. It was recommended by a friend, and I'm never trusting him again.

On the contrary, Final Fantasy endings never disappoint.

Bioshock, god that last battle against the hulk.... seriously that all I can think looking at him, and then a poorly rendered completely extreme out of the blue ending, Steal a nuke or get an "adopted" family.... right.... then again, that game ended in Andrew Ryans office to me, they shoud have ended the game there leaving you with a "what have I done!!" feeling, would have worked much better in my opinion

Oh and any game that ends open for a sequal while they dont know if they will get to make one frustrates me no end and ends up in the "lame" catagory no matter how good it might seem.

Demon's souls was even worst then fallout 3. All you do is walk out of the kingdom... That's it, no back story or praise just "thx you can go now".
Way to miss the point. That's not the ending, there is no ending. Demon's Souls is more or less Groundhog Day as imagined by Lovecraft (the best way I can think of to put it). It doesn't matter how many times you seal the Old One, you will always be brought back. The nexus is Hell, and you are trapped there for eternity.
And thus a reason why it's lame. The entire story to begin with was half assed story telling and in the end you don't know if the old one is put to sleep and will awaken again one day because of the stupidity of man, or what you're doing is an endless cycle where you yourself have to continue doing it. All you see is you char walk away from the kingdom. Not to mention all the hype up of the Old one thinking there was gonna be some giant epic battle between it, where the ending boss is just a metaphoric blob of a king being nothing but a shell of himself because of his greed. After all the hell I went through in the game I a real ending not just subliminal crap.

The 5th ending or the final ending or w/e of Drakengard. Although, Drakengard 2's ending is composed of dialogue over a series of stills. I figured they ran out of budget with the marketting (considering how I didn't even notice it was released) but really? That's it?

Anyway, at the big end of Drakengard: you appear over a modern city (when for most of the game you live in a high fantasy world of dragons and elves and shit) and you have to mash two buttons to fire waves at a giant pregnant woman (who's the mother of giant babys called grotesqueries or gods or something) until time runs out. She dies or something and then you get shot down by a fighter jet. What the fuck?

Neverwinter Nights 2. Rocks fall. Everyone Dies. All done by a bored narrator over slides. It's insulting that my 20th level characters would be so easily defeated. Although it alludes that they escaped to a different plane, I still feel ripped off since I'm not playing that game, I'm playing NWN2.
Haha! I can consent to a certain degree though after I had played Mask of the Betrayer I wasn't very dissapointed at the original ending at all.
Otherwise I think that the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within had the damn worst end ever as it did not matter what you did at the end since they said at the begining of the sequel something like "You know what happened at the end of the prince's journey? It didn't happen at all, it was like this instead." What where they thinking?
Final Fantasy 8's ending was terrible, nothing but a bizarre acid trip through a plot that made no sense to begin with. Although if you prescribe to the "Squall's Dead" theory, it's pretty cool. Otherwise it's just opaque and confusing visual noise.

kotor 2 obviously but the time restraints have already been discussed to death.
XIII if anyone remembers that, i loved that game for the first half (you had to find the identities of and kill a buncha people who wronged you somehow) where they made you really work to find just one or two of your targets. then they throw like 10 out of the remaining 11 all into one room at once wearing KKK outfits or something and you just kill them all in 3 minutes. and then the typical cliffhanger BS ending with a half hour unskippable credits scene. great.

I can only think of good endings actually. I suppose I'm easy to satisfy.

World Of Goo is the first that I think has a bad ending, but I'm not even sure, why that is.

The game starts out with your character walking towards the light, however this sequence does not repeat before you're dropped in front of the Maiden again after "finishing" the game once. All we know about the real Boletaria is that it's been enveloped in an expanding impenetrable fog and anyone goes in does not come back out. Vallarfax got out, but that was not long after the fog had appeared.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is that I think that the Nexus is Hell. Remember that the five "worlds" are really just nodes of the Nexus. Your character is only offered the illusion victory so his/her hopes can crushed again and again. At least that's my take on it. However, I'm really just scratching surface here, there's a lot more to it.

Borderlands. Could be summed up with "I just shot Cthulhu in the vagina-mouth-eye and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt".
No guns (or atleast any good ones), No Infinite Wealth, No Women, just a reveal that CL4P-TP is actually
The Interplanetary Ninja Assassin!
Who you kill in the 4th DLC
and is piss easy

I like to think that General Knoxx actually raided the vault beforehand and kept the contents in Fort Knoxx but was too pissed off at everyone to tell them and eventually forgot.
