Fallout 3. I think we can all agree on that. (No DLC)
You took the words right out of my mouth.
I hate it when open world games like that prevent you from continuing your game after you beat the main quest.
Far Cry 2 was like that too, except it didn't have any DLC that let you continue playing.
Even worse when you go "wait... THAT was THE MAIN QUEST??!!111111 FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

Let's see:

I suppose Pokemon. Only if you count finally getting all the Pokemon as the end. You go to the designer and you're expecting some kind of super rare Pokemon like Mew or something and all he does is show you some certificate saying you did. Needless to say I was pretty pissed.

Shadow the Hedgehog was pretty bad. You go through all the endings, and once you get to the last one, finally expecting to get the real ending. And at the end he basically says, "I am Shadow and I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT MY PAST AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU!!". The end.

The one that really sticks out in my mind though is Little Big Planet. You beat the giant robot thing at the end, he runs away and you're thinking there's going to be one ore really huge, epic fight, but then it turns out all he wanted was friends, but then the king pops out and says "Everyone can be your friend!" Yay! friendship and happiness for everyone!!! This is bad enough but when you're at this point expecting an even more epic fight this just sucked. Worst ending ever.

Its not the ending itself that is bad, just what happens after the ending.

Fallout 3.

I wish they gave you the option to carry on (pre DLC), and the same views with Fallout: New Vegas although I haven't completed it yet...
Pretty much this. Awesome endings, but it sucks that the games end there when they are such large free roam games.

The end fight for Gears of War 2 sucked bigtime though and the end cutscene for Mafia 2 was a bit disappointing.

Crysis was pretty disappointing - the game generally had good human enemies. It sort of sucked once you start fighting the aliens, and that "shoot the boss in its weak spot" ending, at the time, hadnt been seen in games since 8bit consoles, so it felt really cheap. Since then a lot more games have gone for the same approach so its more normal now, but especially the "set it up for the sequel" ending to crysis kind of blew.

Agree with borderlands too, something of an anticlimax, and it was cheap not actually letting you in the vault after all that set up eg the whole game.

another for fallout 3, i was so pissed. i didn't know that broken steel continued the story, but i was still pretty mad. especially with "and so the vault dweller dies*broken steel occurs* but no he didn't, he just passed out for two weeks, even tho he supposedly took enough radiation to take out ten men."

This game is a 7+ rated game? What else could possibly have happened?

Neverwinter Nights 2. Rocks fall. Everyone Dies. All done by a bored narrator over slides. It's insulting that my 20th level characters would be so easily defeated. Although it alludes that they escaped to a different plane, I still feel ripped off since I'm not playing that game, I'm playing NWN2.
I can certainly understand why people disliked that ending, though I was a little apathetic personally. All I can say is this: if you can bear playing NWN2 again, get the Mask of the Betrayer expansion pack. It helps rectify the ending of NWN2 but more importantly its own story is astonishing, easily the best Forgotten Realms story since Baldur's Gate 2. Its written by the same guy who wrote Planescape: Torment, if thats any incentive to you.

On topic, I'm going to be dull and settle with those who were disappointed by Fallout 3. The whole main storyline of that game was fairly tedious and the ending left me feeling so bored of the whole thing.

Yeah I've heard some people say Halo 2.

Kill a brute with a shield who doesn't want to die. Yay
Also when I first played that level I was pissed. I wanted to drive the Scarab so bad!

And the ending of Super Mario Galaxy 1. Boring boss fight.
(And I think Yahtzee had something to say about Princess Peach still refusing to put out...)

Monkey Island 2. It was so lame and unoriginal i nearly had to tear my own face off after how much my friends raved about the game.
What? I love that ending. It's sureal as shit but it gets to you. What's really lame is how Monkey Island 3 connects to it pretending like nothing has happened. Like...wtf?

Whaaat? I love that ending. It's not grand but it gets the job done and works excellently in the game's framework. All the bad guys just want friends, that's like a law of humanity.

Fallout New Vegas. Ends sort-of the same way Fallout 3 ended - with some boring slideshow with some voice-over telling you about what sort-of happens with the factions you interacted with. I doesn't even give you the option to finish all the side-quests, it just ends.
That's how all the fallouts end. At least Fallout New Vegas actually did an ending for pretty much everywhere you went.

Fallout 3 without the DLC, plus Fallout 1 by itself.
Seriously, here's how Fallout 1 ends, you beat the final boss and then the Overseer of your vault thanks you and tells you you're a hero, but you have to leave. You have the option then of killing him or not and the game ends of your character walking away in the wasteland.

really? two pages and NO ONE mentions Kotor 2?
I was going to say the same thing. Kotor 2 was abysmal. I play through all that game and all I get is the old ***** talking to me and telling what the future to come might be. Where the hell did they put the proper ending with awesome cinematics and fanfare, like in Kotor? I don't know, it was like they ran out of money to pay people and they were like, "Oops, we only have enough for that woman to have one last crappy speech and some boring shots and subtitles to go with it."
You do realize Obsidian never actually finished the game properly, right? LucasArts rushed them halfway through for the Christmas holidays, so they had to half arse the last part of the game in about a months time. They had no choice, or they would be violating contract. However fucking stupid the situation was at the time.

Now if only BioWare had done it.. *Sigh*
I wasn't aware of that, at the time I played it, I wasn't a part of a site like this, where I can find out pretty much all the news of how stupid some parts of the industry can be.

Even rushed with a month left, Bioware most likely would have done a better job than Obsidian.

Borderlands, the game was awesome, had a lot of action and everything, then the ending was just anticlimantic

I am a big Metal Gear fan, but the entire third act of MGS2 still sounds retarded even if you can wrap you mind around what the Matrix is going on. It was a mess.
Edit: I need scissors!!!
Case in point.

Fair enough. And yes, they likely would have, given their track record over the previous decade or so.

But I completely agree, Obsidian just.. sucks when it comes to furnished games. I am slightly disappointed in BioWare and LucasArts for not sticking with each other to do KoTOR 2, but unfortunately BioWare had other commitments to deal with in that time frame..

I'm not much of a game player, but one of the games that i have played, with the lamest ending was Spyro 2 Gate way to Glimmer. I busted my ass to open some door in Dragon Shores thinking it was the way home to the dragon world, to find that it gave you a "super flame" thing.
Great, yeah. Thats a lot of help since I've already done everything. Grrr!
