Enslaved. It tries to pull some crazy Matrix story out of nowhere and I guess it was aiming for a crazy Assassin's Creed 2 ending twist but it just seemed really out of place and was just a terrible ending to the whole journey.
Agreed.

I defend AC2 because the twist pushes things but it also didn't feel out of place, whereas Enslaved somehow turned from a character-driven survival story to a rather odd revenge one.

I'm also sick of ambiguous endings.

OT: KotOR 2. If it hasn't been mentioned yet - I imagine it has though - you people should be ashamed.

It hurts just thinking about it.

Not lame per se, but confusing as hell:
Lords of Shadow:

They never really did explain:
How Gabriel became immortal, and why, after so long fighting for the good guys, he turned to evil.
Do you really think they aren't going to fill that in in the inevitable future games?

99% of all NES titles follow this logic.

But if we're talking new/recent games...Fallout 3.
Painfully. Fucking. Stupid.

And then Bethesda wanted you to pay 10 bucks for the DLC that would "fix" the ending.

Oh, Mafia 2 is guilty of the lame ending too.

The final mission is pretty good, but the ending cinematic just trails off. Left me with a huge "but...what the..." look on my face when I finished it.

Believe it or not, they made four endings to that game but that was the best of them. I think it was fine though, anit-climactic but still pretty good.

Borderlands anyone?

That was the most anticlimactic boss battle I have played in a long while. So you're telling me I was led blindly to this thing - this giant fleshy bag of god knows what - only to kill it and get nothing short of 'kthxbai'?

Majora's Mask. the game was OK, the final boss was amazing but the ending let the game down more.

I hate to think what the other 3 were like if that one was the best.

Neverwinter Nights 2. Rocks fall. Everyone Dies. All done by a bored narrator over slides. It's insulting that my 20th level characters would be so easily defeated. Although it alludes that they escaped to a different plane, I still feel ripped off since I'm not playing that game, I'm playing NWN2.
Haha! I can consent to a certain degree though after I had played Mask of the Betrayer I wasn't very dissapointed at the original ending at all.
Otherwise I think that the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within had the damn worst end ever as it did not matter what you did at the end since they said at the begining of the sequel something like "You know what happened at the end of the prince's journey? It didn't happen at all, it was like this instead." What where they thinking?

Demon's souls was even worst then fallout 3. All you do is walk out of the kingdom... That's it, no back story or praise just "thx you can go now".
Way to miss the point. That's not the ending, there is no ending. Demon's Souls is more or less Groundhog Day as imagined by Lovecraft (the best way I can think of to put it). It doesn't matter how many times you seal the Old One, you will always be brought back. The nexus is Hell, and you are trapped there for eternity.

Radiata Stories, the human-side ending.

The Silver Dragon, one of two dragons that perpetuate a cycle that wipes out the human race to prevent them from advancing too quickly, becomes empathetic towards humans and prevents the arrival of his counter-part in order to stop the cycle. In order to do so he is forced to sacrifice a girl, Ridley, who would act as a vessel. Thus saving humanity from utter destruction.

No that's not the ending. The ending is that Jack, the main character, throws a hissy fit and kills the Silver Dragon, because of the girl he sacrificed. Who is this girl? Someone Jack loves? Sister? Childhood friend? Nope, a girl he was a knight recruit with, who spends much of her time being very abrasive towards him, that he doesn't even see much of. A completely hateful and bland character.
Does this accomplish anything? Bring her back to life? Save the world? No, she remains dead, the Silver Dragon already saved everyone for you. All you accomplish is killing an ancient and empathetic creature of unimaginable wisdom and power over a girl that nobody likes. Woo.

Well, I will say Fable 2, since that was a pretty bad fight with the person who had tried to kill you on multiple occasions and killed your sister.
I am kind of mixed on my opinion of Borderlands possibly because the ending seems to go like this:
[spoiler/]You defeat the thing inside the vault only to learn there was never treasure inside the vault, the only thing inside it was some alien monster that other aliens tried to seal away inside it, and the thing helping you throughout the game was a weapon company's satellite that wanted it dead since someone was bound to release the thing.
I am not 100% sure, but that is about what I got out of that ending. I guess it isn't that bad of an ending in itself, I am just mad that the final boss itself drops piss poor weapons most of the time... and that you can only fight him once per play through.
KOTOR 2 is one that keeps popping up, and I guess I agree. It took my till when I started writing the last sentence to remember the final fight, and that wasn't that great.
I will have to disagree with a lot of people's comments on Fallout 3. I mean, if you decide to be evil, I guess it is kind of lame, but I rather liked the ending where [spoiler/]you sacrifice yourself to finish the work your father started to save the world's water supply.
Granted, the DLC does kind of make me disappointed to learn that only a small basin around the memorial was actually cleansed, but that's not important. I will admit, it sucks not being able to travel around anymore, but that is more of a consequence of the ending rather than the story of the ending itself.

Halo 2, by far. The game itself was a letdown, but I kept thinking that maybe, just maybe, it'd pick up. After the disapointment that came with playing as the Arbiter (remember what a huge deal they made of this? And remember how it was just like playing as Master Chief with different hand textures?), I NEEDED the game to redeem itself.

And then...

"Sir, finishing this fight"

Roll credits.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEG!!!

As a runner-up, I'll nominate Oblivion. Gee, that sure looks like a fun boss battle! Can I join in? No? Oh... ok.
