Last PC Game worth actually buying?

Given I've not had the problems that Rabid Llama and Desaari have had, Company of Heroes all the way. In fact, there's a whole country to liberate the shit out of - catch you later.

Left 4 Dead is one of the most visceral gameplay experiences you will ever have... on PC. I haven't played it on a console, but I've heard its plagued with the usual XBL asshats. Beyond that I'd suggest Galactic Civilizations 2 for the strategy geeks, and just a sprinkling of Overlord to be used as a between game palette cleanser.

Medieval Total War II was the last PC game I bought that I have been thoroughly satisfied with.

I have to go spend $600 bucks to get a PS3 to play it on, then another $60 bucks for infamous, then if I want to play it online I have to spend another $120+ a year,

By far Starcraft, it came out ages ago, but i picked it up 7 years or so ago when it was only $20, i still play it today and its always challenging.

There are countless games worth buying. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was awesome fun for a film tie-in although it wasn't PC exclusive of course.
Empire: Total War is awesome and you won't be seeing a game like that on any console any day soon.

When's the last time a PC game came out that was actually worth buying, and what was it called?

I mean, there are a couple of games about to come out, one for PC and XBox 360 and one for PS3, that look like they're worth buying.

One is [Prototype] and the other is infamous, and since [prototype] has an Activision label on it I'm just waiting to see how badly Activision screws up what should be a no brainer hit, and how half arsed they make the PC port.

As for Infamous... let me get something straight...

I have to go spend $600 bucks to get a PS3 to play it on, then another $60 bucks for infamous, then if I want to play it online I have to spend another $120+ a year, and half the companies that make games are going to try to gip me by charging $30+ bucks worth of DLC for the games I shell out $60+ a pop for already? Am I the only one who feels screwed over by this buisness model?

Infamous has no online that I'm aware of and PS3 has free Online, you're getting mixed up with Xbox.

Cod4 before that.

Cod5 can go die somewhere as can Bioshock, Farcry 2 and Fallout 3.

10$ and it's like a sandbox building tool. Just youtube it you'l know what i mean.

DoW2 is the last PC exclusive that's come out right? It's well worth it, especially when Cyrus roundhouse kicks an entire squad of Orks and they all just die at once.

Any game with an active mod community is most likely worth buying and you'll get several games for the price of one because of the mods.
