Jason nodded as his allies finished putting on their comm links, Lucifer quickly slipping his helmet back on with his back turned, while Emily brushed her hair over it. Jason nodded, continuing a slow walk downtown, the gunfire getting louder with every step they took.
Finally, a group of military personnel could be seen holed up in what appeared to have been a gun shop at one point in time. The appeared to have just pushed back a horde of mutants and they appeared to be reloading as of right now. Jason nodded, Lucifer making a dash forward towards the men. A few shouts could be heard, but that was quickly drowned out by the multiple sounds of gunfire. Lucifer easily sidestepped the bullets, bringing his blade out just as he reached the first man, who was sliced in half by Lucifer's blade.
Emily frowned, but didn't say anything as Jason watched Lucifer tear through the military soldiers like butter. When the last man had dropped, and the clatter of gunfire had ceased, Lucifer stood up straight and sheathed his blade. He turned around to face Jason who had been walking forward even as the last man dropped.
"Excellent work Lucifer... I see your skills have not waned since being cooped up at the lair." Jason noted, motioning for Lucifer to follow behind him and Emily. A small rise in the city street, something that appeared to be the work of explosives, shielded at least fifty mutants from their view.
Jason sighed, raising his palm towards the gathering mutants. A straight ray of flames sped towards the mutants, and as it exploded, a bright pink bubble contained the explosion. Once the flames had died down somewhat, Emily and Jason both looked at the combination of their work. There were no mutants left, and the explosion's noise had been muffled somewhat so that people couldn't hear it from too far away.
Emily beamed up at Jason, who gave a small smile back, but moved on quickly. He stepped over the charred remains of a mutant and smiled, his flames had only grown more powerful in the time he had been away, and if Emily hadn't contained his blast, then everyone within the city could have heard it. He shook his head and made a mental note not to use such a great amount of power on such weak opponents.
Lucifer walked beside him, his armor clanking in the dead silence of this part of the city.
