Dan smiled. He had deffinelty found a true friend.

Dan cringed
"Was that your way of getting me back for saying that I like Karen?"

Karen pulled down her top and flashed Jess. "I'm the waitress now and I want to know." She handed Dan a cup and grinned. "Hope you enjoyed the show, Sugar. I gotta say its nice to look human again." She stretched and sheathed the blade she found.
I like these people.

Dan fixed his eyes on Karens chest and then looked back at Jess,
"Yeah, you do have more of a chance, but...uh..."
He sighed and then shook his head,
"You...Lisa...and a girl called Samantha. But that was nothing. Why do you ask?"

"...what the hell? Anyway, Jess...have you ever been in love before me?"
He paused,
"I mean real love, like how I feel for you."

Lucifer noted that the birds were now keeping watch over the manor, so he decided to head back into the city to see if he could find out any useful information on this 'Rat Pack', Something that Jason was obviously familiar with... but something that Lucifer had no knowledge of. He shrugged it off, and continued moving down the trail towards the city. A few mutants gazed at him as he passed, but paid him no real mind, apparently thinking that he was not a threat.

Once he was down and into the city, he dropped into a sewage system, which not having been used in a while, was now almost clean. There was the faintest stench of death, but Lucifer was accustomed to such smells by now. He crept along silently in the sewers, every now and then the faintest sound of soldiers marching overhead. He pressed on, despite the cramped corridors, and eventually made it to what appeared to be a dead end. Beside him there was a set of ladder steps that led up to the street. He hadn't felt it, but apparently the entire time he was in the sewers he had been moving downward.

He began to climb, his armor bending as he did, but never soft enough to be punctured by a weapon. He reached the top rung and raised the manhole ever so slightly, just up enough to see through a small crack created by it. When nothing was in sight, he eased himself out of the sewers and quickly made a dash for the nearest building. When he was silently inside, he looked out of a window and saw a squad of soldiers coming towards this building, having rounded the corner seconds after Lucifer had made his way inside.

He quickly made his way up the stairs, and then kept a careful watch on the doorway from his staircase. A sniffing noise was heard from inside his helmet, and suddenly Lucifer could smell everything within hundreds of yards. He drew his sword silently as the door creaked open, the soldiers coming inside in an orderly fashion, their guns trained on everything in the room and their flashlights lighting up the room.

Two soldiers crept upstairs, the others stayed downstairs. Lucifer waited until they were right beside him before attacking. He cleanly sliced through the torso of one soldier, and slit the throat of another with the sharp fingertips of his gauntlet. They dropped heavily to the floor as Lucifer found another hiding place. Four more soldiers rushed up the stairs, their lights shining briefly over their fallen comrades before hoarse whispers called more directions. One of the men rushed back downstairs and brought with him the remaining soldiers, about seven total.

Lucifer dashed forward from his hiding place, slicing clean through the man who appeared to be in charge, before ducking into another room. The soldiers shouted, their guns already beginning to tear through the walls and into the room Lucifer had ducked inside. Lucifer however was already anticipating that, and had ducked back out of the room as quickly as he had entered, cutting down two more soldiers before they realized what was happening. Before they could bring their guns to fire at him, Lucifer had grabbed the body of one of their fallen allies and thrown it into their midst. Two soldiers fell backwards, tumbling off the landing and to their deaths amidst the house floor below. The rest were easily killed, and Lucifer pressed on, hoping to find someone that knew were the base was.

"You've both had more than me that's for sure" Karen dumped twelve packets of sugar into her coffee and then started to put a dent in the creamer supply. "My bosses would be thrilled If I brought you two back with me. Then again I'm not sure I'm still part of Black earth anymore." She sighed and tasted her coffee. "BLEAH! Bitter!"

Dan laughed at Karen,
"you should try mine..."

"so. Have you?"

"here's a difficult question; who out of all of those, did you love the most?"

Karen eyed him passively "No thanks." She sighed again when she heard Jess's story. "I wish I was that lucky. Suffice to say mine doesn't really put me in a good light."

Karen couldn't hold it in any longer she pointed at Dan and then at Jess and started laughing. She laughed so hard she actually started to cry and fell off the counter, still guffawing. She managed to catch her breath. "You..hahaaha... are just adorable!" She collapsed into another fit of laughter. It wasn't malicious laughter it was sweet and heartfelt.

Dan smiled and then stared at Jess.
"I hope your blood works soon Karen."
He grinned,
"The I can punch you in the face."
