Jason had left the others when they had arrived in Eurasia, taking off to what little remained of the mansion. Vines and other plants had grown over most areas, and most of the Mansion was now too dangerous for humans to traverse so they simply stayed away. Jason burned what he couldn't simply find a way around, creating a bright orange light to all those who bothered looking up this way anymore. A large tree grew in the center of the mansion, ruined parts of the mansion now intertwined in the trunk.
At the bottom of the trunk sat a large slab of stone, shaped into what appeared to be a tombstone. As Jason got closer, he could distinguish writing, which he could only clearly read after brushing the dirt off the surface of the stone:
Hear lies Lucifer... a trusted ally and long standing friend. He fell bringing down the greater evil, a being known as Amaranth. May this tree forever stand tall and remind us of the man who fell saving us.
Jason recalled writing the first sentence but he didn't recall writing the last sentences, nor planting the large tree which the stone had been resting on. Jason placed the tombstone back down against the tree, turning away so that he didn't disturb the peace anymore then he already had. He walked over to where the trapdoor had been, and luckily it was still intact. Jason climbed downstairs, and to his amazement the bottom floor of the mansion was still intact. Jason snapped his fingers, and the torches lined along the walls burst into flames, lighting the path all the way to the main room.
Jason walked to the main room, grabbing a torch off the wall and holding it out so he could see. It appeared to be intact at first glance, but Jason noticed that his room's door was open. He pushed it open and placed it in a wall bracket, letting it illuminate the rest of his room. The desk was thrown on its side, the bed scorched along with most of the walls. The only thing that seemed undamaged was a ring with a dark black onyx stone set were the gym would be. It was intricately designed, dragons intertwining at the bottom of the ring and then going up towards the stone. Near the stone, their mouths were open and appeared to be eating the stone. The moment Jason picked it up, the fire flickered, and something in him settled.
I see that you have finally found a way to understand me... A low voice echoed. It seemed to be echoing from the walls, but when Jason looked around he could see no one.
Your a fool. You cannot see me... I am inside of you.
Jason just ignored the voice, and it eventually stopped speaking, but that sense of someone else being there didn't go away. Jason stood back up, placing the ring on his middle finger and looking around the room for anything else useful. He found a note, and sat down to read it.
I have left my ring here in case anyone decides to come looking for me. My ring is special, unlike anything you will ever find. There is something inside of me... someone, who's power far exceeds anything I previously thought. Only with this ring was I able to unlock their true potential, and now I am leaving it here before I go to kill the one named Minus. I don't know if I shall succeed, but if I don't at least the secrets of my ring will not fall into his hands. He has already killed my brother, and stolen what little power Curtis had, including something very precious to him. Please... if you find this note, then it means I failed, and I need to ask something of you. Avenge me, go to Bright Grove and kill the one named Minus... I have left a recollection of everything I have discovered in a book underneath the tree upstairs.
-Jason Cole
Jason looked down, tucking the note into his pocket and standing up. Everything in his letter made sense, and now he needed to know what had happened in the years since Jason's real time. Jason grabbed the torch, and walked back up to the tree, peeling away a root to find a chest. He pulled the chest out, burning off the lock and opening it to find an intricately designed book. He opened the book and sat back against the tree, beginning to read from page one.
