Oliver found that the room was huge. He could tell even in the darkness he stumbled around in. At one corner of the room had been a bed and television, along with some sparse decoration. On this other side, however, was something like an armory. Dozens of racks held various swords, likely belonging to May. They looked as if they used technology in some way, though how Oliver couldn't tell. In one of the corners four cylinders contained various versions of Oliver's power suit. At the far left was the suit he was waring now. He could see extensive repairs had been made and even then it was falling apart from age. In the second cylinder was a sleeker suit, with a full mask instead of a visor. The third was empty. Presumably, the future Oliver had taken it with him. But the fourth cylinder held something amazing.
Oliver leaned down to look at the engraved sign, which read "Mk. V Prototype", then stood back up to examine the suit more closely. It was pure white, and easily the sleekest armor Oliver had ever seen. He opened a terminal that was at its side and checked out the suit specs. It was made of a newly made element which the report dubbed adamantium. Oliver grinned, knowing that he must have fought hard to call it that. It had an internal storage of light energy that could be controlled by Oliver's thoughts. It even generated an energy arm on its own. The report also claimed that it focused Oliver's energy, making it roughly 30% more potent.
The suit itself was a sight to look at. It fully covered his head, and only two orange eyes showed the wearer inside. It was purely white, with a stylized golden P on the chest. On its back was a large cape. Its collar reached halfway up his head, and was attached by a golden brooch connecting the two sides of the cape's opening in the front. It extended down to his feet, and was trimmed at the bottom by a golden flame pattern. Oliver was a little surprised his future self was willing to give this blatant an homage. He looked more closely and saw a note on the suit. Oliver grabbed it and read,
Happy birthday, honey! Your son and I have started to worry. I miss Dan every day as much as you do, bit Minus isn't worth humoring. Going out in nothing heavier than a trenchcoat's going to get you killed, so I had Techhead make you this. It's stylish, and Minus can't sap your energy without getting through it first! Enjoy,
-- May
Oliver smiled, and decided that even though his future self didn't appreciate the gift, he would. He pulled the suit off of its stand and threw it on, putting his old suit in its place. As he turned to leave the room he saw something by the suit stands, where the trenchcoat apparently went. He picked it up and looked. It was a picture of him and May, at least a decade older. But two other people were with them. A strong-looking young man with spiked red hair and a confident smile. Noah. And beside him was a beautiful young woman, with wavy brown hair, laughing about some joke he didn't know. Elysia. He grinned under his new mask, put the picture back and walked out the door to find the rest of the Renegades.
