"You are a strong magician, I probably have killed one of your ancestors" Dren said as the dead body of the man popped into a cloud of black dust. Dren looked around the neighbor hood quickly and analyzed his surroundings. Dren parried the kick and turned around. The beam had blown away the blackness on the shield revealing the owl symbol that had been on Cameron's shield. Dren grunted and brought up a large obscuring wall off fire after it was up he ran into an alleyway and let Cameron have control. Have fun, good guy

Cameron jolted awake in an alleyway. "What the hell" He said

Vuvu... if you're talking about the fire... it isn't an illusion... the fire is my main means of attack. Get out of the fire radius ASAP.

Magus clasped his hands together, cutting the beam off; he focused, and after breathing a brief incantation, he drew all of the remaining fire back into himself.

"Something seems a bit odd about that one..." Magus thought aloud as he helped Umbra back up.

"Are you okay?" He asked, "I think he went into that alley over there.... he looked a little... different."

The illusions faded, Umbra brought back into reality by her hand's burns. ...They hurt, but it doesn't look like lasting damage. I'll have to get that taken care of soon though. "Yeah, I'm fine..." she said, getting up then taking her baton with left hand. The glove is ruined, I'll have to get a replacement at my place... after beating Medieval Nights's brain in. Collecting herself before running in rashly again, she picked up her cloak, draping it over right shoulder and headed to the alley, clenching her left hand around the baton.

Magus entered the alley at Umbra's side. After a few moments of searching Magus found an armored swordsman... like the one he had fought... but different...

"Hey!" Magus called out to Umbra, "I think I found him... he seems a little different though."

"Why am I covered in blood" Cameron said to Magus. "What did he do this time"

Poor Cameron is to weak to keep me under control

"Powered down I bet," Umbra spat. She bolted toward the knight, sending a swing to his head. Now's the time to strike then, if this change is any indication. The catharsis is only an ancillary benefit. I should have hit his head last time. Apparently anger made the tactical issues go away. Also, it made her unable to hear whatever the knight's comments were as baton neared face.

Cameron lifted his hand and grabbed Umbra's forearm. The black veins spiraling from her burnt hand receded and the corrupted memories became normal. "What did I, he , do" Cameron said

Magus grabbed Umbra's arm to prevent her from striking the knight again.

"Wait!" He exlaimed, "I don't think this one was responsible for the attack... connected, yes... but I get the sense that there is a strange internal conflict at work here." Magus turned to the knight, "Am I right? If so... I might be able to help... for the right fee of course."

"You can't help" Cameron said as he released Umbra. "It is too late to help, he is part of me, You will be safer staying away"

"I can enter your mind and attempt to strengthen the barrier between the two minds," Magus said, "If I can, I could also try to lock your darker side into its own personal nightmare... it may not be permanent, but it should give you some time."

"Oh." Umbra slackened her arm; beating some innocent person's head in for catharsis wasn't her style. "OK, I'll let you leave intact if you explain this, at the very least," she said, pointing with the burnt hand at the carnage outside the alley. I might not have noticed, but how many people did he just...

Cameron gave a small frown. "Maybe if this was when he first entered, but we are one in the same, there is no barrier between us we are melded together. Removing him would kill me, then he would possess another" Cameron said as he looked down the alley. "all those houses.."

"Maybe I can't put up a barrier," Magus began, "But maybe I can lock his perceptions and focus into his own personal nightmare... it would take him quite a while for him to get out..."

Magus paused...

"Or I could try teaching you my methods of mental discipline... it would be a long and hard journey, but it would give you more of a fighting chance against the Other in your mind."

"I didn't explain this correctly,he is completely melded into me, his soul has forced itself into mine, we are not two individuals in one body, we are one, in one body." Cameron said. "Since he is part of me, blocking him with magic will kill me, and then he will find another host"

OK, so he's been possessed? "So how often does he break out? Is it a regular thing or is it just when you lose willpower?" Umbra didn't know what to do with this knight; maybe his answer would help her decide. Whatever it was, if she saw the black knight again, no aiming for the knees. She kept the baton out, by her side, swinging it a small amount subconsciously.

"Then that would leave teaching you some mental discipline to help you focus and to be able to take command of this Other part of you." Magus paused, "I wouldn't be teaching you magic, I would be teaching you how to sharpen your will so that he will have difficulty taking you over in the future. I hate to say this, but... I will have to ask for something of equal value in return... though... I think it best to wait for payment until after you have mastered what I have to teach you. Mental discipline won't block him off... it'll just help you... 'ignore' him I guess would be the closest way to put it..."

"See I have tried this before with other magicians, the problem is that ignoring him is very hard to do, he is mixed in with me, not half and half as it would seem by our shifts. There is no identifying what is his, I can barely remember my child hood without his life crossing over. He would also learn the skill and could lock me out, he is stronger then me with those things.

"I always sucked at mental discipline..." Umbra commented, more to herself but still aloud. Shinobi always struggled with that; I think he'd meant to make me follow more in his footsteps. I took to the practical stuff well, but his mindset just wasn't me. Shaking her head before reverie overtook her, Umbra looked back at the knight. "So how long do you think you have before It can return?" she asked, half-anticipating and half-loathing the possibility of a rematch. Experience with pain or no, her hand still was hurt and fighting one-handed wasn't a good way to start - looks like no new funds tonight...

"There is no time prediction, it depends if I get angry, sad, stressed, fearful, frustrated, all those bad emotions" Cameron said "I must go, thank you for..., trying?"

Cameron turned and walked down the alleyway towards the warehouse.

And with that I am off for the knight
