I'm not exactly sure if this is really unpopular or not.. I'm aware that anyone who has watched unskippable or Zero Punctuation has heard of it, but I don't think the same could be said for actually playing it.

I found Valkyria Chronicles to be a big hit. It is original in it's form that is anime anything. Plus as one of the 12 people that found Turn Based Strategy to be extremely riveting, and thus extremely sad at the fact that we don't see that type of game style more in games... This was a refreshing change of pace. For me...

The game actually introduced the cartoon series to me, which I also loved to death, it was interesting to see the differences between the characters in both the cartoon and the game, and how the game was able to use the same story and change things up at the same time.

Heart of Darkness (PS1).

I don't recall it being that popular (perhaps it was just me who had never heard of it before playing) but it was great - in particular the black horde that constantly chased you was really well done.

Wow, I didn't think any one was going to bring up that. I LOVED that game, it was a huuuge part of my youth hehe. Ooooh nostalgia, how you humble us all. The dreamcast was a gem too.

Essentially some of the underrated games mentioned(Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, etc.) all have a cult following, I wouldn't exactly call them "Least Popular".

That's why I choose, Empire of the Ants. I just really like the presentation of that game(excluding the graphics).

Yeah, which is why I was really reluctant to say Psychonauts. I'd say games like Killing Floor are great but yet unpopular as far as I know. At least among console gamers. However, I'd call Kane And Lynch: Dead Men the closest to a non-popular game I love. The next one after that would be Rune:Viking Warlord which I always thought was extremely enjoyable and was let down that I had no one to play two-player with.

I've never ever EVER found a single person apart from me that has played Aquanox 2.
I agree that the voice acting was shit, and that the story was incomprehensibly fucked up...
But it was really fun, especially with a joystick.
Funny. I didn't really like the gameplay THAT much (it was fun though), but that 'incomprehensibly fucked up' story was the main reason I played it to the end. And loved it.

But, that's not the game I wanted to mention here:

Pathologic

This is the game which has:

- Godawful graphic
- Godawful animations
- Godawful voice actors
- Lame AT BEST soundtrack.

And yet, this is one of my all time favorite games. Why?

- Extremely awesome concept of 3 different heroes to play, having 3 different objectives, three different abilities, three different points of view etc. on one plot of the game, and each one of them is changing the plagued town on his/her own. I LOVE that kind of stuff, and I wish more of the games had options like that.

- That being said, plot is great as well.

- Trying to not get infected by spreading disease (or killed by it, if you are already infected) is extremely challenging and fun at once.

I'll go with Viking: Battle for Asgard. As I've said time and time again, aside from the craptastic ending this game is a blast.

Natural Fawn Killers. It was a 'hunting' game where you had to kill a certain weight of animals each level before the time ran out. Sounds uninteresting, just shooting some deer, rabbits and bears, but you had over the top weapons such as miniguns, rocket launchers etc. The game was pretty humourous, with great speech from the unnamed protagonist. Just great fun.

I'd say Final Fantasy 10. A lot of people dislike JRPG's so I'd say it's unpopular.
Except it went platinum. So it's popular.
Not on here.
You're on the Internet here though. Very short skim on any single gaming forum almost always guarantees you to find some topic about FF series.

In Poland, Zelda series is very unpopular. Games are hard to find anywhere, and I don't see much fandom here apart from several forums scattered here and there (I just made a quick research. The biggest Polish Zelda forum has somewhere around 550 registered users. Even after adding up all of the community people around several boards and adding about twice as many people who doesn't manifest they Zelda love on the Internet, that's still pathetic number for a country with over 38 millions of people living in it). But as a gamer, who likes to surf the web, I encountered such a GIANT fandom, I can say for sure that Zelda series IS popular, even though I know about it only thanks to the Internet, played only one of the game of the series, and didn't even like it (that was Ocarina of Time btw).

I liked Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al Revis. It was fairly generic RPG formula, but it had its own charm and appeal.
