Yeah, I don't think the constitution has ever been shown, though they more than likely do have one.

Therein lies my problem: I can't really review something I don't have in front of me. Doubtlessly, though, they have something to the tune of the Second Amendment.

Could you maybe just look at the politics of the Fallout world as a whole? Not just the law side of it?

Maybe you could analyse the factions and people and comment on their way of life, laws, society and/or political views.

I'm not political expert but...

Yes and no.

Yes, conservatives tend to keep to tradition and don't like change, right? The thing with Caesar is that he wants to change America from what it was before the war, by looking all the way back to the Roman Empire. So in a sense he is being very radical with change, and at the same time by limiting technology and looking at old (very old) ideals he is being traditional.

Yes, conservatives tend to keep to tradition and don't like change, right? The thing with Caesar is that he wants to change America from what it was before the war, by looking all the way back to the Roman Empire. So in a sense he is being very radical with change, and at the same time by limiting technology and looking at old (very old) ideals he is being traditional.

Yeah, that makes sense I guess. I'm not saying he isn't conservative, just that he is also very radical, more radical than most other factions in the Fallout world, along with the Followers and The Master (when he was alive).

I think The Master takes the cake in terms of full-out ideological crazy. Then again, it's rather funny how you can "win" against him

Take a seat

There are two ways to define alignment. A person's respect to good and evil, and a person's respect to order and chaos. Thus, a person is aligned with their respect to both. Neutrality also exists. Thus, the alignments are Lawful Good, Lawful Neutral, Lawful Evil, Neutral Good, True Neutral (Neutral Neutral), Neutral Evil, Chaotic Good, Chaotic Neutral, and Chaotic Evil.

A person who is of the good alignment is more likely to help someone than a person of the evil alignment.

A person's respect to law is based on their respect to rules. A chaotic person never follows laws simply because they are laws, while a lawful person upholds laws. A lawful favors security and family, while a chaotic person favors freedom.

A Lawful Good person would work within the confines of the law to do a good act, while a Chaotic Good person would not care. A Lawful Evil person would use the law to fight a person they didn't like, while a Chaotic Evil person would go straight to murder.

Lawful Good would give him a chance to repent and turn himself in before going to the cops. Lawful Evil would tell the cops, and then try to get something that Bob had in some legal manner.

I don't know what Chaotic Good would do really. It depends on intent. If Bob was stealing from the rich to feed his family, CG would be fine with it. But otherwise, they would comence the ass-kicking

[HEADING=1]Chapter LVII - Aliens? Sure, Why Not?[/HEADING]​
Now it's time to start the Mothership Zeta DLC. It's started much like the other DLC's in the game, as soon as you leave the Vault, you get the quests in your log and a radio station that gives a basic plot hook.


This is kind of in the middle of nowhere. The plot hook for this DLC is by far the weakest. Basically, your character hears some strange static and just goes out on a limb and travels there.

It would be kind of stupid if you had to encounter the ship by chance of course, but Bethesda really could have feasibly tied this stuff better into the game. Like having reports of people disappearing in a certain area or UFO sightings. *shrug*


We're right by Old Olney and Vault 92. That was our closest fast travel point.


You don't need to listen to the signal in order to get a waypoint. All that's really there is some strange chittering.


We get attacked by one of the Hellfire Troopers. I thought the Enclave stop roaming the Capital Wasteland after Broken Steel?


The truck behind him explodes, we barely are out of range of the blast.


Eventually, we come across the wrecked spaceship. Now normally, if you didn't have Mothership Zeta installed, you would find the Alien Blaster here with a sizeable amount of ammo for it, and that would be it. If you have Mothership Zeta installed, this happens...



You get abducted. I suppose it's a pretty good strategy to just wait for stupid wastelanders to come across your wrecked ship and then abduct them.


We're probably the 5th person today.


Welp, that's the end of the game. Lily gets abducted by aliens and is never heard from again.


Nevermind, must have been some strange dream or something...

That doesn't look pleasant...

Oh look, an NPC who can conviniently explain what the hell is going on here.

"This can't be happening. I mean... aliens?"

No Bethesda, no matter how much you lampshade it, making a DLC about aliens is still ridiculous.

"Crazy, ain't it? I thought I'd seen some shit out there in the Wastes, but nothin' like this. Not a whole lot of good news goin' around right now."

Are the prisoners even able to communicate with each other?

"If you're lucky, they'll leave you alone for awhile. If not... Well, then it's been nice chatting with you."

What's with Fallout DLC's and you starting them being captured and held against your will?

"So how do we get out of here?"

"I've been here for a little while, but haven't found a way to... Shit. You hear that? It's coming again. Get back against the wall, now!"


We do as she says and get against the wall. You can hear some really unpleasant machinery.


Some guy gets picked up by the machine and dragged off somewhere.


I dunno, it's still a bit more colorful than the Capital Wasteland.

"What the hell was that thing? Where are they taking that guy?"

"What, you've never seen a giant metal claw scoop somebody up and carry him off to who-knows where? I don't know where they're taking him, and I'm not interested in staying here long enough to find out. We gotta get out of here, kid. Now."

"So how do we get out of here?"

Hopefully we won't be rudely interrupted this time.

"Now you're talkin'. I can tell you there ain't an easy way out of here. I've looked around, and I can't find any panels, wires, circuits... nothing."

It's almost like they didn't want anyone escaping their cell or something.

"I'm thinkin' they did us a favor, putting us together in here like this. And I say we use it to our advantage. And for the record, the name's Somah. Nice to meet you."

"What kind of advantage?"

"They're keeping an eye on us, you know? Watching us. So I say we give 'em a little show. Give 'em a reason to pay a little extra attention to us."

Yes, it's the basic "Fake fight to distract guard" scenario. But with aliens, so now it's completely original!

"All right, fine. What's your plan?"

"They want us alive for... something. Who knows what. Point is, if it looks like one of us is gonna kill the other, they'll step in to stop it. So that's what we do. We throw a few punches, make it look real, and then jump 'em when they come in to break it up."

There's one flaw to that plan - they'll probably have lasers that will disintegrate us as soon as we jump them. Guess it's better than the other big 'plans' in this game, so I dunno.

"Okay, so we get out of this cell, and then what?"

"Hell if I know. But at least it's a start. It's better than sitting here waiting for them to experiment on us even more."

"Okay, let's give it a try."

"All right, good girl. Now let's not get too rough here, okay? Gotta make it look good, but don't want to do any serious damage."

"Okay, go ahead and hit me."

"All right. I'll hold back on you, make sure you don't get too roughed up, okay?"

Pfft.

"And you be ready. Soon as they come in to get us, you take 'em down."


She gets pissy with you for even landing a single punch on her.


You said to be convincing!


After a few seconds of fighting, the guards show up.


Now we attack. Notice how little health they have compared to how they are in the rest of the DLC.


We take their shock baton-thing.


There's a dead Enclave officer here. We take his clothes.


Also an insane Rivet City guard. To be fair though, I think this would probably be most people's reactions.


Lot's of audio logs on the ship. None of them are extremely interesting, most of them are of the "HOLY SHIT, ALIENS!!!" variety.


If there's one compliment I can give this DLC, is that the ship looks pretty cool.

At first. I'll explain more about that later.


So now we can't get by this door. Guess we'll have to go another way.


We have to help this kid get out of here first.


We have to destroy this thing to free the kid.


And it just kind of collaspes upon itself.


The alarms go off, and we talk to the kid now. The basic idea is that she makes her way through the ships pipes and guides and helps us throughout the ship.


Like so. It takes a long time for anything to happen though.


That would be hilarious.


Of course, she keeps her word.

She says we have to go through the steamworks to get to the next part of the ship.


This guy is guarding all of our stuff. We get it back awfully early in the DLC.


Now we can ditch this stupid Enclave crap.


I hope you missed brown, because it's back here in style. The steamworks part of the ship is poo brown and extremely repetitive.


Also forced stealth sections. They're not really forced, but you'll want to avoid being caught by any means nessecary. You'll find out why soon.



Apparently, this alien race survived without having any sort of peripheral vision.


More guys down the hall, thankfully we can duck into the little corner on the left.


Of course the kid takes her sweet ass time opening the door.


This room is copied and pasted excessively throughout this section as well.


We get our first new alien weapon. It's pretty cool looking.


Of course, the aliens can take quite a few shots from this gun before going down. I guess it makes sense in context, but I still find it stupid that the high tech alien weapons from the DLC aren't that damaging.


And this is what happens when you fail the stealth. Needless to say, I died quite quickly here.


Didn't go down without a fight though.


Let's do this the right way now.


This is the other alien weapon, it's just a pistol type version of the Alien Disintegrator.'



Really, you're better off using your own weapons instead of wasting the alien ammo on these guys.



The Chinese Assault Rifle is pretty much insanely useful for any occasion.


Somehow Sally can hack all of their stuff and blow up shit in their ship. Not that I'm complaining.


An explosion goes off and we sneak past the enemies in this area. This is better than fighting them at any rate.


This is Alien Epoxy. It functions pretty much exactly like a weapon repair kit from New Vegas.


See what I mean about lack of peripheral vision?



We try not to shoot them, but...


I shoot at the turret and kill both of them in the process. And get bad karma for it.


The heated steam can't actually hurt you.


Finally, we get a disintegration.


So we basically just continue down through repeating rooms, gunning down endless waves of aliens who take a ton of damage and just aren't very fun to fight.


Yeah, this isn't very fun. Worse than Anchorage, definitely.

The United States Constitution was the main document of legal precedent in the former United States before the Great War. Its articles established the government and how it would be run. Like other constitutions, amendments (or changes) were proposed and passed. The first ten amendments were called the ?Bill of Rights?. These prescribed the rights of citizens that the government could not infringe upon. Some of these rights are applicable, but others, in post wasteland society, are moot or worse, disregarded by the government.

First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Why it was passed: The right to religion, free speech, the press, ect are considered fundamental rights of men, and the basis of western law.

Its status: As congress no longer exists, the Amendment can be considered somewhat moot. However, such fundamental rights are respected elsewhere, such as the NCR. The right to petition is also tied directly to the concept of representative democracy


Second Amendment
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

Why it was passed: Another fundamental right is the right to self-defense. The wording of the amendment is rather vague, and there was some debate to whether or not it implied an individual right or a group right

Its status: As the wastes are full of nasty things hell-bent on killing, the individual right to keep weapons and to use them is allowed, and required for survival.

Third Amendment:
No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

Why it was passed: After the American Revolution, the founders did not want soldiers forcibly kept in people?s homes, without their consent. It was one of the many abuses by the Brtisish

Its status: Moot. Even before the war, it was rarely cited, and it never led to any Supreme Court cases over violations. At best, it is an anachronism of sorts.

Fourth Amendment:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Why it was passed: Another foundation of Western Law is Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat,. In other words, Innocent until proven guilty. This amendment intended to protect people from being searched and violated under the presumption of guilt, rather than any proof.

Its status: In Effect/Disregarded/Moot. In the wasteland, anyone can be stopped by the brotherhood and searched for technology. Anyone who resists is presumed to be hiding something. In the NCR?s more civilized areas, it is intended to be in effect. However, in practice, it is mostly ignored.

Fifth Amendment:
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation

Why it was passed: These rights intend to protect people accused of a crime.

Its status: Disregarded/Moot. It places, such as the Mojave and the Capital Wastes, ?Due process of law? is scarce, for reasons of costs and time.

Sixth Amendment:
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence

Why it was passed: The right to a trail and a lawyer are considered important to the legal system. It goes back to the rights of the accused

Its status: Disregarded: As stated above, a speedy and public trial are nearly impossible in many places.

Seventh Amendment:
In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

Why it was passed: This amendment prescribes the method for civil litigation.

Its status: Disregarded/Moot: Civil suits no longer exist in the same form as they once did. If wronged, most people will head to their weapons and solve conflicts that way.

Eighth Amendment:
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted

Why it was passed: To protect the citizens from disproportionate retribution or punishments being used as blackmail.

Its status: Blatantly Disregarded/Disregarded/Moot. As stated above, the NCR will not go to the process of trying someone in a court of law caught stealing items. Trials are expensive, and bullets are cheap.

Ninth Amendment:
The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Why it was passed: The Enumeration clause is the idea that just because something is not stated, it is not always not a right. In other word, the fact that something is left out cannot be used as an argument that it is not a right.

Its status: In effect. The Enumeration Clause is nothing new, and in fact, the NCR?s constitution has a clause to a similar effect.

Tenth Amendment
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.


Why it was passed: This amendment was made to keep a check on Governmental powers and reserve rights for the states and the people.

Its status: Moot. As stated, there aren?t really ?states? or a federal government in the same sense as the time.
