Excerpt Personal Log, General McSwine
Day 114, Busy.
As the Skyranger makes it's way home from another successful operation, fuel warning lights light up on the Interceptors' tracking panels. The remaining interceptors are forced to break off and head for base, losing track of the two remaining alien vessels.
Events at base have been no less wearying, however, as the budgetary approval was signed off for an X-Com identify and intercept facility in North America, and construction plans were laid down.
The base's location in the central United States will provide coverage to much of the continent, and overlapping coverage with the existing bases once the Hyperwave Decoder is brought online.
Thinking we had lost the supply ship and the other, larger vessel, the Skyranger launched to recover the alien vessel shot down by interceptor fire. Additionally, due to the tracking loss, we must consider the worst case scenario, and that an alien facility has been successfully planted on Earth. An interceptor is loaded with geophysical scanners and sent to overfly eastern Russia for signs of the base.
As the skyranger was en route to the crash site, the comms intercept board lit up again, one of the supply ships was still in the atmosphere.
At first, it was expected that it would leave, but to our surprise it landed, and the skyranger was diverted to assault it.

X-Com Battle Report, UFO Ground Assault 6
A clearing in the hilly ground allowed the ground team to put the skyranger down next to the UFO on this mission. There would still be dangerous work clearing the LZ, but at least we have the benefit of daylight this time.
AceDiamond guided the UCV out of the Skyranger expecting shots that didn't come. The squad piled out and took up position around the craft. As the UCV began it's advance to the south, AceDiamond called out the position of an alien on the hill southwest of the squad.
Whilst RootOfAllEvil spotted one advancing under cover of the UFO body to the west.
RootOfAllEvil fired at the alien he had in his sights, and it went down to the searing plasma bolt.
Meanwhile Doomsly McSlaughter uses AceDiamond's target data to blast the alien to the south with a rocket.
McSlaughter's rocket flushes another alien out of cover on the hill.
Looney blasts this one.
Rounding the northern edge of the UFO, Armitage Shanks spots another alien.
CAPSLOCK FURY lines up a shot and blows it away.
AceDiamond advances along the southern edge of the UFO and spots another alien behind a hill.
Making a tough shot between the bulk of the UFO and the hill the alien thinks is concealing it, Looney puts this one down.
Shots ring out from the far corner of the UFO, and the UCV is blindsided and destroyed.
Armitage Shanks flanks the shooter though.
His squad open fire, Doomsly McSlaughter, CAPSLOCK FURY, and another soldier all shower the area in laser and rocket fire, but RootOfAllEvil makes the kill shot, taking advantage of the ability of the Heavy Plasma to fire on auto for closer range work, a capability snipers lacked with the Heavy Laser.
The LZ is cleared, and the squads form up to enter the UFO, Birras is taking the eastern breach this time.
Armitage Shanks is entering the western door.
As the breaching charge goes off, an alien panics and runs out of the door Shanks is lined up at, he guns it down with his laser pistol.
Then charges in, where he comes face to face with another alien. Taking no chances, he fires a stun bomb and the alien slumps over.
CAPSLOCK FURY rounds the corner of the engineering room, and spots another alien.
Hosing the northern corridor with laser fire brings the alien down.
The squads make for the grav lifts as before. As before, an alien awaits on the top floor of the eastern lift.
It is shot by the scout on the level below.
The second level of the UFO is clear of crew as before, but the bridge is once again guarded. The scout rounds the corner and takes a plasma shot to the side, seriously wounding him, he returns fire with both stun bomb and laser pistol, and the alien eventually falls unconscious from the pain of it's wounds.

Mission Debriefing, General McSwine
Once again an unmanned vehicle takes a bullet meant for a breathing X-Com soldier. Replacing these is becoming a tiresome process, especially given the current high tension situation. When replacing this UCV, a spare has been ordered at the same time, so that if another is lost, there is no downtime for replacement.
Our scout has been seriously injured, in order to try and reduce recovery times, we will be investigating the issue of field medikits to X-Com soldiers.
Prior to the deployment of Power Suits this wound would have been instantly fatal, but now we have the extra logistical problem of recuperating wounded.
Additionally, whilst the ground team were committed on this assault, the aliens' base on earth was discovered by interceptor overflight.
X-Com is liaising with world governments to formulate a strategy for removing this threat to humanity.
