People like that have existed since time immemorable, just ignore them. They cant try anything funny, they're too much of a minority and our government takes them too seriously to let them get out of hand.

I don't think you can just ignore them.

For starters, fringe groups often read being ignored as tacit acceptance. With the protesters who just walk around with dumb sings, it could go either way -- they could get bored and go home or they could make a little echo chamber. But they're not the only problem. The crazy people who take the rhetoric at face value and blow up government buildings, shoot abortion doctors, or make gas bombs to use on immigrants? Those guys believe that they are doing the will of their entire community. Anything short of direct censure of their ideals will be read as support. The same tends to be true for the thugs who commit more pedestrian violence against gay, illegal immigrants, &c. -- news agencies that have tried to deny them attention have typically found their violence escalating rather than diminishing.

Moreover, these birther/deather/teabagger folks have a huge network of fans (like, literally a network -- as in a cable network) who will idolize them and cheer them on and call them the salt of the Earth even if we don't talk about them. So me and you ignoring them isn't going to deny them their soapbox. We're kinda stuck with them. The least we can do is answer their endlessly recycled nonsense with some kind of truth.

I found it completely hilarious when he mentioned about the Czars being set up in the Ronald Regan and Bush administrations as well. Oh man, were they stumped. Hitting up your local library or actually do research from reliable sources can equip one well. Especially to know what they're standing up for. I'm so tired of hearing things like, the government wants to kill my grandparents, etc. I highly doubt that they're so evil that they want to smite our grandparents. If people really sat down and tried to comprehend things that are going on, I think some things could actually get done. If people want to protest, by all means go ahead. But make sure you don't look like a complete jackass. It just shows that your "movement" has no substance. Why have people stopped thinking for themselves? It's really disgusting how easily the media penetrates the mass and it sinks in.

Also, I hate hearing people say that Obama's not doing anything. How fast can you fix 8 years of bullshit? Can you do it faster? By all means, go for it. As far as I'm concerned, this shit takes time. I don't remember his campaign stating that he's gonna fix shit like magic. At least he doesn't want to continue the government to be status quo. Making the government do their jobs for a change? Holy shit. That's new. /sarcasm

Edit: A lot of those supports remind me of the Westboro Baptist Church. How they force their beliefs onto their kids. When you ask them what they think it means, they can't really answer. Lack of understanding and the hive mind mentality, ladies and gents. Anyway, some of you guys pointed out the teenagers earlier that are just wearing the signs and whatnot because it's what their parents believe. Especially the kid that kept looking at the woman. That really terrified me. That he needed nods of approval for him to say what he did. He probably had no idea of his own. They brainwash each other to validate that their points are correct. To constantly sit amongst yourself and not take into account that other people have valid points as well. Stubbornness and ignorance together is very scary.
