Draco Cantus from The World Ends With You. I love that boss fight but the minimal damage you do to it is ridiculous

This boss can either be the shortest fight in the game(literally you assassinate him before you'd encounter him as a boss). Or the longest(if you don't play the game long enough during the boss fight he literally dies of old age). Then there is the middle ground of hunting him down which can be easy once you done it before.

Aside from that, just about any Final Fantasy ending boss.
what about the last form of the last boss in FF 13 took my brother 10 seconds to beat, not that long now is it.

as for me...There was this boss in castlevania the third of the ds games which constantly heals himself fully, took me 1 hour to figure out that I had to absorb his walking through walls spell so he dies suffocating in a brick wall.

The longest fight in my memory was against a custom monster in FFX. I don't remember its name, it's one the breeder creates. Every time you hit it, it counters by killing two party members. It also gets its own attack. This means even with Autophoenix and 1MP resurrection you're going to be spending a LOT of time and mana just keeping your team on its feet. After 45 minutes I hadn't beaten him and had to get up for dinner.

Second is Ordrak from Torchlight. I shot every arrow in the world at that friggin' guy and he just. Wouldn't. Die. It took about 40 minutes to put him down.

EDIT: Come to think of it there was a boss called Lord Chaos from Dungeon Master, a PC game so old 3.5" floppies had just been invented. I was maybe twelve, I had all the time in the world....and I didn't know he was immune to damage. Chaos's attacks are of random power, so it was easy to survive. I spent half a summer saving and reloading my continuing onslaught, hammering Chaos with every spell and weapon in the game. Even when I figured out what to do it took several tries.

MGS4 fight. Playing the game one way for it to end with a generic fighting game simulation was difficult enough at first. That and you have to go through 3 freaking fights....

The Chryslis at the end of Resistance Retribution was a total *****. MGS Peace Walker's final (first final boss, not the extra end boss) fight was difficult the first time around)

Lavos from Chrono Trigger! For one thing, you had to beat every single previous boss again just for his first form. After that he has 2 more forms, but they don't take as much time. I got bored halfway through the boss and just turned off my brain and let my fingers do the continous pattern of heal, attack, replenish MP. Average end to an otherwise amazing game.

I remember Ultimicia from FF8 took me a long time to beat, or it seemed like it did anyway, it wasn't even a hard battle it just seemed to go on and on and on.
It DID take forever, and it bleedin' sucked. Way too much HP and way too bullshitty besides. I have a TvTropes entry for her in Goddamned Boss or something.

However, for longies, I would like to say Orbital Frame Anubis from Zone of the Enders 2. To clarify, this is a two-part battle. You fight Nohman in Anubis first in Compression Space, and then you almost immediately after fight the Aumaan-empowered Anubis, effectively like the Neith and Zombie Neith fight in the first game, but with uhh...problems.

The first part of the battle, you're in compression space, heading for Mars, right? Okay, Nohman can effectively teleport (It's a form of his Zero Shift) outside of compression space, making him unable to be targeted at the time, and he can suddenly appear near you too. He gives very few times of possible attack, and will have times where he is quite far away and pot-shotting as well. At this point, you might be saying "Well, Zero Shift the bastard!". I found out that alot of the times, that's a BAD idea. Zero Shift is NOT a be-all-to-end-all maneuver. It is not unblockable or undodgable. I know this because he didn't get at ME all the time, and I got MINE intercepted by his ranged attacks. So, among other things, I employed surprise moves like grabbing him, or even sneaking up around him at normal speeds. Zero Shifting could've gotten me killed in a 'shooting ducks in a barrel' kind of way. So, this battle takes LONG, and it's just the first part!

Second part, we're in Aumaan! Anubis has gone white and has no arms, so it's using surrounding materials to act as limbs. This was strangely easier because Anubis' ability to FIGHT was lower while its metatron power shot through the roof. However, it still took long because Nohman kept doing alot of distancing from me. Fortunately, his metatron attacks - something like a big energy pac-man monster - were large enough to see before doing stupid, and I either move around it or get the fuck out of the way of it trailing me...to Zero Shift! Yes, he was all the more open in this case, but it still took a while because Anubis is just STRONG.

Now, it was fun - don't get me wrong - but it was also long, especially in terms of a fast-pased mech game.

Silly optional boss fights ... such as ...

This one time I was playing X-wing, and looked over into the distance.
"Is that the death star? I wonder if I can solo that thing with a Tyderian Shuttle"

So I flew over there and took it down.
Don't remember how long the actual fight was ('cos the travel time to get there was rather lengthy), but the entire process took some 9 and a half hours.

I'd have to go with Xigbar, I know Xemnas has a longer battle but Xigbar kills you way more often, SO adding up all the retries he's got to be one of the longest fights.
and yes in my opinion a failed attempt count. When I was fighting Xigbar I learned that using a spell that blocked his attack was easier then trying to dodge it.

Longest for me was the last boss in Legend of Dragoon.

It kept going on and on and on, taking much longer than it needed to.

Longest ones I've had was the ones at the end of the first two Mario and Luigi games. They lasted so long I actually had to take an hour break during them.

the rock monster on Metroid Prime took me wayyy too long. Ninja Gaiden 1 had some nasty ones too
This got me thinking about the Ridley fight and the fight with the Omega Pirate. Both took forever. The harder bosses in the "dark world" sections of the sequel were unnerving, but that was due mainly to poor design (constantly draining health + ammo system in a combat interface that is basically Contra 3D = poor design).

FFXII's Yiazmat with its 50 million HP will inevitably take some time. I usually clock in at about 2 hours.
If I recall there was one that nearly took an entire day and they still could not beat it 24 strait hours.
After that they nerfed it.
wait no 18 hours.

Final Boss of Persona 3. Not really a difficult fight but it's going to last at least half an hour.
This. The
Nyx Avatar
took me at least 45 minutes, and I was one of the lucky few to whom she didn't rapidly spam Night Queen. In comparison to other boss fights in this thread, it's probably pretty short, but the fact remains, it can be a stressfully long fight.

If I can count the entire process of getting to and fighting him, TzTok-Jad in Runescape.

TWO HOURS ENDURANCE FIGHT. Even worse, it used to be you had to do it ALL IN ONE GO. The fights utterly REQUIRE a guide, too. Otherwise, you WILL die on the first time you do it, because the first time the mages pop up, they can hit you for about 300 damage a second. (MAJOR issue considering 990 hp is the maximum you can have.)

Kingdom Hearts 2, has the longest ending I have ever seen it just keeps going and going without any stops. You keep fighting random collections of bosses that are either the main boss or are entirely superfluous. All the while having no opportunity to save, thus making you have to do it all in one go.

But it wasn't hard except for the end of the fight.
