Thats actually kind of funny, getting a thrill being chased. Kinda sad at the same time too.

Thrills come from Living, but unfortunately modern society is against living.
Why do you say that? I think modern society is actually too obsessed with living. Everyone HAS to have health care? Everyone HAS to have a middle class standard of living? Eveyone HAS to be cared for? How many poeple do you think would get off their asses and get a job if we took away their easy welfare check? The prospect of an inevitable slow death from starvation is a rather strong motivator. In the most basic argument of Nature vs Nurture Darwin had it right, but we killed natural selection in humans sooooooo.... here we are.

And thrills DO come from living, not from destruction. If they (the youth) can't understand that they need to be made to understand. The simpilest way you ask? Destroy the inanimate objects they "can't" live without and watch them go into tech withdraws.

So, you're mad that these kids are adrenaline junkies? They sound so harmless (especially the part where they show basic decency toward a man with health problems. They might be stupid, but at least they're not dicks) that throwing a hissy fit about it on a message board is just one more reason I've lost respect for so-called 'adults' (like they care). You yourself are only, what, a few years removed from that age group? In which case, you probably know people you went to school with who did similar things or worse, so 'losing respect for today's youth' (I'm sure they're crying about it) is just silly.

I lost respect for my generation ages ago. My peers proved long ago that they're all fools. Sometimes I swear I'm the only person in the school who's not doing something illicit the minute no adults are around. What's worse is that they openly talk about these illicit things and there are adults clearly within earshot. They lack any form of humility, shame, or even common sense. It sickens me. I'm not a perfect kid, but at least I have a bit of common sense and a freaking moral compass.

My definition of Living = Doing Useful Stuff. I'd much rather be dead than a potato.

Thats why I would say that.

I feel your pain. Some of those creatures are barely fucking sentient. I wish we had different corridors, so I didn't have to walk near them.
Go to a school which is broken up into different blocks and therefore doesn't have corridors? :p
How does it manage not to have corridors?
By being broken up into many different building and having access to rooms outside rather than inside. The only parts that really have anything close to corridors or hallways are upstairs classrooms and in administration buildings. Its like this for most public schools in New Zealand.

"and has made me lost all respect to the young."

Well then you're silly.

Also, you're 21. Not exactly an old man.

It does sound like its a bit of a pain having a bunch of kids hanging around outside your house and throwing stones at it in an attempt to get a thrill from being chased by your dad. But this sort of stuff was done before, as you say, 'todays youth'. It's not really anything new. But I admit that they may be lacking in the thinking department when they asked if your dad knew anyone who could chase them however it would be due to them thinking it is harmless childish fun that they asked this question. Also I would say take into account that this small group of children may only represent a small amount of this generation of youths as they are not all likely going to act like this.

All I need to do is go to school and I see stupidity from the younger year levels (I'm in year 12 (senior)). I won't explain what they do because it would be too long and I'm tired.

Oh I know, it's terrible isn't it?

I got on the bus back from University yesterday and a bunch of year 12/13s got on and they just made unintelligible noises, laughed at each others stupid voices and generally enjoyed being around their friends, having only a small amount of responsibility and a relatively light workload. Absolute morons!

Who would want to be a high school senior? They're so stupid!
I'm glad I was never young.

/sarcasm

Seriously lads, remember that until you're an OAP someone older than you will always think you're a cretin and resent you for being younger than them. At least have a sense of self-awareness about the process.

Plus, you'll probably be freshers soon, and everyone knows that freshers are idiots.

So explain what is productive about destroying someone else's property to get your adrenaline rush when they chase you? Like I said in my first post, I'd start shooting after one warning if they contenued to throw rocks. To use a famous quote from Winston Churchill, "Nothing in life is so exilerating in life as to be shot at with no result." Too bad I don't miss......

I guess I just don't understand why, or how what you say, defends these people's actions. Please feel free to explain your view because your last post almost seems to support my point of view. Just wondering.

Not sure what's sillier, having faith in a generic collection of people, linked only by one arbitrary fact about them, or loosing faith about said group.

Good for you that they've moved on, but don't "loose faith" in children, just because some of them are idiots

All generations think that those younger than them are so much worse behaved, it's just a part of life. Kids haven't changed and nor will the adults who judge them. Today's youth is no different from those in the past.

i'm sorry but from the original post all I can see are a bunch of kids with no activities, trying to find a bit of harmless fun being polite when finding out about the person they have been playing around with. Seems to me if the old gent didn't want the kids coming around he could have informed them that way the first time instead of chasing them.

Sounds to me like the kids were respectful when they could have terrorised the old couple, trust me compared to how bad kids can behave that is mild.

Kids just want boundaries and activities, attention. If they are acting out it is usually because of a lack of one of these.

EVERY generation has had it's rebellious youth, even yours!

Meh, they're just trying to have some fun.

When they realized that they were actually hurting someone they stopped and went to bother someone else.

We've all been 'there'. (i.e. doing stupid shit)

Oh man I have a list a mile long of things I've seen kids today do that have made me lose respect for them. My brother is a good example. He walked out on his family because he got grounded and couldn't see his girlfriend on weekends even though he gets to see her all day at school. He now abuses (verbally) my sisters and mum whenever he gets the chance and is probably on drugs. And that's just one kid I know. He's 14 by the way.

When I hear on the news that young people are binge drinking and morally bankrupt, I don't believe it.

Then I look at others my age, and it's largely true. This puts me in the situation where they all hate me for not being like them, and older society, ie employers, won't believe I'm not like them.

Thanks, British media!

Ya, they are just kids, kids are always doing stupid stuff. It's part of the trial and error of being a kid. It's the late-teen/early 20 year olds (which unfortunately I am one of) that really make me worry about the future.

And I have lost respect for today's 'Adults', really guys? Really? So a few teens are dicks, that doesn't automatically make me or anyother teenagers a dick. As pointed out many before, the older generation have always said the same about the younger generation since before anyone remembers. I hope to god I remember this and don't prejudge the generation after my own.
P.S. I'm 15, make of that what you will.
