Lost respect? Never had it to being with. I see so many people my age and younger who wear their pants around their knees or lower and it makes me want to slap them in the face. And that's just for starters.

Over the summer I went on a trip to Africa with my church. Two of the team members were high school kids, who both displayed a staggering lack of common sense and periodic intervals.

My personal favorite was in the airport on the way back home:

"Well it's not like the plane's going to leave without us..."

I know it was a church trip, but for a second there, I thought I was going to have to choke a *****....

I fucking love this quote, even though there are a few versions of it on the go.

When I hear on the news that young people are binge drinking and morally bankrupt, I don't believe it.

Then I look at others my age, and it's largely true. This puts me in the situation where they all hate me for not being like them, and older society, ie employers, won't believe I'm not like them.

Thanks, British media!
Dig a little and you will discover that the vast majority of "older society" were just as bad as you are supposedly. Hell I used to get stick from my dad for not being as outgoing as he was when he was a kid.

Now I'm a bit older and studying away from home at Uni, my Dad comes to visit occasionally and he is more like an older friend than a father figure now, as you get older it becomes apparent that people really haven't changed that much. Hell I've heard stories of my dads crazy adventures that simultaneously put me to shame and make me want to push myself further next time.

Anyone who read one of my older threads will know i have had vandalism problems in my area for some time. Lastnight's events just tops it off and has made me lost all respect to the young.

Anyway, i was out lastnight (i have a wicked hangover and a cold atm, ignore the errors).
I woke up this morning (feeling like P Diddy) and my Dad told me about a gang of 15 kids outside throwin stones at the window. We get this alot because my dad chases them and they love the thrill.

Well this time is different my dad went outside on the phone to the police and the one of the gang asked "why arnt you chasing us?"

Anyway long story short my dad told them about his medical conditions and my mothers, both involing heart troubles and disabilties. The group said sorry, the didnt know but to top it off, one of them asked this:

"Do you know anyone who would chase us?"

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

That kid needs to be stoned to death for sheer irony.

I cant see much discussion value here, only to ask if you have ever seen or met such stupidity that it made your blood boil?

edit: Clear up, when i say todays youth, i mean i have lost respect to them as of now. I previously had respect of them. Yes i no kids of all generations have done terrible things in past. Im meaning now, for myself, at this point, my opinion. You think things would only get better as time progresses.
Sooo... maybe i'm not reading this correctly, but they kids were throwing stones at your house, to get your dad to chase them, he explains he's got a bad heart, they say there's SORRY and didn't know, but one asks if you know anyone that i guess would play along, and for this, you want them stoned to death? Eh?

Yeah, the kids shouldn't be throwing stones, but, in the grand scheme of things, when you consider what alot of youthful games are doing instead of that, (shoting people, doing drugs, accually robing people, arsone, ect.) throwing rocks to get a cheap thrill, the appoligizing when they'er told the man in question was unhealthy, doens't seem like a stone worthy offince. It accually feels quite tame to me. *shrug* And again, this sounds like something kids of old would be doing, not something todays kids are into. Throwing rocks are so 1950's. LOL.

i hate youth too, and im only 20...

seriously, kids need to be beaten once in a while.

i know we all did some dumb shit in our time, but sometimes people go too far.

i know i have, but with a little call to the police, and a formal warning, i never did *THAT* again. (dont ask, i wont tell you).

Yeah, I was even going to accredit it to Plato, but apparently is it adapted from a play from Circa 900 BC

i think the sheer cheek of them is what pissed him off the most, not the severity of the act itself.

i would give them such a beating if A: this happend to me and B: i got the chance.

There is another similar one on the go somewhere, will try and find it.

Update: Got it.

"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words. When I was a boy, we were taught to be discrete and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise and impatient of restraint." - Hesiod 700 BC

Oh please.
Would you prefer stupid, wild youth or the strict bullshit we had in older days?
You know, the ones when you get physically attacked for misspelling a word.
Today's modern youth, and society as a whole, is the lesser of two evils.
(Not saying I actually LIKE today's youth)

Have these chuckleheads ever heard of a game called "Tag?"

It's great: you can play for as long as you like, and usually no one calls the cops.

Why do you blame the entire youth of today for something that a small group of kids are doing? Sounds like you have some growing up to do

This made you lose faith in a generation?

Seriously?

This isn't earth-shattering, mind-warping crime, it's neighborhood mischief.

All I need to do is go to school and I see stupidity from the younger year levels (I'm in year 12 (senior)). I won't explain what they do because it would be too long and I'm tired.
It's the same for me man.

I just can't wait for these last months to come up so I can finally leave this stinking school and get away from all the sports and drama crap. The juniors here are terrible, they have taken drugs and everything and think their the center of the world. Then the sports crap, this town I live in is a steretypical Texas town and we're like 3 states away from Texas.

Just can't wait till I graduate

I think todays youth can best be summed up by this man. He has a real grasp on the youth culture of today and really understand where the kids are coming from.

Seriously though, did you never go cherry door knocking or prank calling as a kid. It's seen as harmless fun by the kids and ok it's annoying for adults but meh.

I don't know where you live OP but it sounds like the kids round your area are complete angels to the ones round here. Tell a gang of kids round here to sod off and they will hound you even more, especially if you mention you are ill. It's sadly a common thing in this country for gangs of thugs to harass people untill they are scared to leave their homes, particularly older people. They have also been known to attack people who stand up to them, even kill in some cases. Ok, those are rather rare but it still happens. That's coming from Britain, a supposedly civilised country.

To be honest, I was expecting a much worse scenario.

These kids may be stupid for doing what they do, but they realized that your parents have health problems and are willing to not bother them any longer, and that's a good thing.

Teenagers on puberty are stupid, they always have been. You just have to let a little time pass by (5-10 years or so) and you'll see that some of them grow up and become better people. :)

Yeah, because the actions of a couple ass holes around where you live are a representation of the world's youth. I'm so tired of threads like this. These "I have lost faith in ____" because of 1 bad example. Sorry you have shit head kids living around you, it happens.
