A fetus has no cognitive functions and can not feel pain until after at least the 26th week, it's not the same thing as battering an infant to death with a brick.

Each State has the Safe Haven law, also known as the Baby Moses Law (if you get the reference). Whatever your reason for not being able to take care of your newborn baby (poor, shame, or you just don't care, etc), you can leave it at a hospital, a police station, a fire station, and in some places even a Church is suitable and walk away. They are required to accept the baby without any questions (except that the people leaving the child never stay to even answer any questions, leaving the baby on doorsteps, in front of the doors, etc) and take it to the hospital for medical care, and then it is placed in adoption agency. Hell, even straight to an adoption agency is an option, which is what they are there for.

While turning your back on your child seems harsh itself, it's better then,...say,.....DROPPING A CINDER BLOCK ON IT'S HEAD - christ. I can't even,...I mean,..just what?!

Not to make light of the situation, but sometimes condoms break or aren't put on properly. Sometimes women forget to take the pill. Whole lot of variables.

If he really has to explain why murdering a sentient newborn when adoption was an option is different than legally aborting a fetus before the birth, then chances are it would fall on deaf ears anyway.

Sentient? I believe not. A newborn child is still lacking in higher brain functions due to lack of development in the cortex and limbic system. The brain stem is still controlling said child, which by most accounts has already developed in the sixth week of pregnancy. Try again.

Whatever, feel free to ignore everything else I said. If you won't try to understand the importance of sociological values in favor of declaring yourself winner by way of objectivity then it's pointless to argue anything.

How stupid and or lazy is this guy. He could have asked someone else to take care of it or something, but no "lets just end it's life so I can go on with my crappy one" what a selfish heartless bastard.

However, and I'm gonna be hated for saying this, I don't think this guy should be charged as harshly as if he'd killed a grown child or adult. It's only a newborn baby it's not got any real feelings or emotions the same as, say, a 1 year old does.

A life is a life, sentient or not. I think the only reason someone's life should be taken away when they do something to warrant it. This baby did nothing and now it won't even get the chance.

A grown man can defend himself a baby can't that's why it's sick the same as if a child was murdered it's the vulnerability that gets to people.

Presumably because the feotus isn't 'sentient' it's not developed enough to be a person the same way a single cell of your body or your finger isn't a person. To say that it is, is ignorance on the level of creationism.

Call me crazy but I would I would like some control over whether another human being grows inside me or not. More often than not anti abortion hides an anti feminist agenda. Make women into baby machines so they can't take our jobs etc.

Abortion happens before the egg is fertilized enough to even be classified as.. I think living, actually. As it hasn't gone through every stage required (I think there are seven... Respiration's one of them). This is a fully conscious baby. It can make noise, have faint recognition and memory. These are two completely different things.
