I guess i should say popular ones
My avatar=death note
i guess
Bleach
lucky star
and for manga go to onemanga.com for all things manga
This basically. I don't really like Death Note, but that'd be because I don't like the darker side of anime and manga.

And he's right, the bit in bold really is the onlyplace to go for scanlations, though I tend to use those simply to decide if I like a series.

For anime, I really enjoyed Bleach, at least through the Bount Arc, Soul Eater has always been one of my favorites, and Cowboy Bebop is basically the most awesome anime ever written/drawn. There are others but I don't want to take up the ret of the page.

For manga, Fullmetal Alchemist (if you didn't like the anime, don't worry, the manga is much better, at least in my opinion), the original Dragon Ball (they were written as a parody of manga and anime, so they tend to get pretty cheesy, but they're well written), and D. Gray Man (not much to say here, I just happen to think it's epic).

I tend to stay far away from Shounen (translates into "kid" in english, right?) Anime when I go look for something to watch. I find that the less shounen it is, the more emotionally touching it is.

I usually look for anime that is very emotionally heavy.
A list of what I've watched and enjoyed:

Noein, To your ohter self
Air (both the series and movie)
Kanon 2006

I completely forgot about Noein, I definately liked that one. It kind of reminded me of RahXephon in a way.

Plus if you liked Air and either Kanon, I am sure you've seen Clannad and Clannad After Story (not so much the movie as it gives the ending of "After Story" away). I cried somewhat when I saw Kanon, but Clannad After Story brought me to gut-wrenching tears.

Well guys, I'm sitting here day in day out, I dont want to finish my college work, so what do I find myself doing alot...watching anime, or reading manga. I dont know, I just do this in my free time to waste the hours, although I have a deadline in 3 weeks for all work. So I was going to ask, what anime's do you watch? What's your opinions on today's anime? What manga's do you read? Do you read them? iI not why not? I suppose I just want to find something new and fresh, that maybe, I haven't already seen or heard about so I dont have to be bored s**tless day in day out. Because we all know I'm not going to do that work.
Check out Toward the Terra, Trigun, and Full Metal Alchemist.

Toward the Terra is a sci-fi anime about a war between a race of humans that have evolved psionic powers and the normal humans, both trying to find Earth before the other does.

Trigun is a Wild-West style anime that has some really cool action.

Full Metal Alchemist is a magic/sci-fi anime that is one of the most acclaimed ever. Just make sure you have the time, there are over 50 episodes.

Is the brotherhood a sequel to FMA, or what?

the only anime I've seen and enjoyed was Outlaw Star.

I've watched others, but they're just pretentious japanese circlejerks.

Battle Programmer Shirase is pretty funny. its a miniseries that you could probably watch in an hour on youtube (if its still on there)

Everybody should just watch Mai-HiME. At the risk of sounding like a raging fanboy, it has the single greatest cast ever. Lesbians with weapons. Oh yeah.

I'm not really much of a manga/anime person.. I think it's because I am mainly a novel reader and the idea of reading something with a good plot, interesting characters, and no frikkin' cliches is a balm in today's creative whirlpool society.

The manga's I HAVE read an enjoyed would be:
1. 'Dramacon' and it is a shojo and it is a love story but I really liked the storyline, the pacing, the drawing and... well, just everything in general. She's a new artist and has only published in ShojoJump (I think) but I'm hoping she does other stuff soon 'cause I'm looking for it.

2. 'Death Note' because the anime is singlehandedly the most boring thing ever. The manga on the other hand is much better. It's a lot more convoluted than it needs to be but it's a good read nonetheless.

3. 'Full Metal Alchemist' is also a good anime but can't compare to the manga. Especially considering the anime changed plot and went in an entirely different direction.

4. 'Fake' which, to be warned, is a homosexual american-style manga. But despite my misgiving's it's brilliant, well characterised and isn't screaming from the pages every five seconds "OMG THESE GUYS ARE FUCKING AND THEY'RE GAY!" which is why I haven't touched any other yaoi manga's.... ever.

Anime that haven't been mentioned above... er, well, that doesn't include Full Metal Alchemist at least.

1. 'Samurai Champloo' seems good even though I've only seen a few episodes. I couldn't continue because I had school and work and blah blah but after discovering 'torrents' I'll have to go after it eventually.

2. 'Trigun' which is brilliant same as

3. 'Cowboy Bebop' because it MUST be mentioned in any thread or anything to do with manga/anime.

4. 'Ouran High School Host Club' and after seeing it I felt a renewed hope for the genre. It's a 'harem' anime but mostly makes fun of the genre and has a lot of gender bending. It's shameless, out-there, and full of pure win. The manga, on the other hand, is not.

5. 'The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi' is best watched out of order and instead in consecutive order. Basically, the way the plot is supposed to work. But, other than it's confusing set up, it's pretty good with in depth characters, a lot of parody, and a truly weird story.

Ummm... that's all i can think of... But, jeez, if you want to tolerate the anime/manga genre do NOT touch Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, Naruto and Bleach. The Manga 'DragonBall' is good, cute, and a parody of the monkey story from japanese mythology but the anime and subsequent 'Z' stuff is crap.

AKIRA.......

seriously, its one of the coolest manga (theres also a film) ever.
Leave it to pretty-boy Leonardo DiCaprio to butcher your memories of it (He doesn't have a role, but he has some involvement, just not sure what).

Brotherhood is the Anime according to the Manga. The first series deviated from the manga after a few episodes. Must have been a pretty bad case of Caught Up With the Manga.

I find it weird that anime gets a bad rep for apparently being shallow, but Western Animation never seems to get that stigma.

Anywho, I don't watch/read as much I used to, so here's some really good ones: Bokurano (if it ever gets finished... WARNING! HIGHLY depressing), Gurren Lagann (tons of fun), Full Metal Alchemist (this one's spectacular), SGT. Frog (also tons of fun), and Death Note (needs more love dammit!)

Leonardo DiCaprio is a good actor. Go watch The Departed and Body of Lies.
