Eh, I heard it was because of stress caused by all the fireworks over New Year's. At least, that's what they said about Arkansas.

It is very clear that something is or is not happening here. We may or may not be in danger, and therefore we should worry, or potentially not worry. Since we don't know for sure, I think it would be best to worry, just to be on the safe side.
Everybody, start being concerned about something you have zero control over and postulate crazy theories about government experiments and biblical events, because usually when you're unsure of the cause of something, it is always the most wildly outrageous and extreme explanation that is correct.
So it IS Cthulhu?

Kentucky - X00+ birds dead
Little Bay and Waikawau Bay, Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand - X00+ birds dead

Looking at the map, I think it's pretty obvious what's going on. It seems we have to nuke Africa, because they are clearly the masterminds behind this.

What were the odds that the prohets and saints of the churches were right.

100%

Wait 5 more years and if we are still alive, I can say I told y'all so. Of course, we do not know the specifics so the human death toll might be very low.

it's nothing people. Now go back to realizing that you have much bigger problems to fucking worry about. Like the US defaulting.

Actually, I've heard more into this. The theory is that the bird deaths have been caused by loud noises you'd hear in a thunder storm. It's actually pretty believable since the bird deaths seemed to be caused by some sort of extreme stress.

The fish deaths have been thought to be caused by a fault in the ocean. This too would make a lot of sense.

Apocolypse? Doubtful.

looking at the map it seems to be happening where it has been unusualy cold this year so far.. In canada we're having a pretty hot winter while the US and europe are getting some of the coldest/most snowy winters they've had.

Clearly this is a sign of the Aliens coming to Earth.
Or the uprising of the vampire robot nazis who are also zombies.
I'll let you decide.
Can't it be both?

By the way, has anyone thought of harvesting the dead fish/birds? Or are they toxic? Assuming they were fresh, well...free dinner.

I had a pleasant conversation with my Mom on this subject, she's pretty sure it's a cloaked Klingon Warbird.

Doesn't explain the fish though.

I would be ashamed if anyone on EscapistMagazine would consider anything supernatural.
why? we barley know anything about our world or what lies beyond it, how can you be sure about anything being real or not?
to put it in prospective i may not even be real, i could be a false personality, or an ai.
i can say with absolute certainty that every one has thought about "what if im the only real person" kind of thing at least once in their life.
if you see what im getting at. (it wasn't sarcasm was it?)

ot: what if something isn't not happy with this planet. 0.o

Well this one is rather easy.

You see, the cats have made their move. We gave them an inch, now they are taking the mile. The are starting their two front war on birds and fish to promote the master race of furred felines.

We only have one chance before they move on the hamsters and dogs.

I am going to kill Mr. Mittens, i have the power and the resources to do it. I only need to know one thing. Are you in?

It's stuff like this that almost make me believe that the 2012 prophecy is real.
I pin the blame on La Nina, we've been experiencing bizarre weather this year. That or blame it on us for altering our world's climate.

Probably both, have you seen the floods in Queensland, Australia? two thirds of Queensland has been underwater over the past few weeks.

Regarding mass animal deaths:
On average, 163 such events are reported to the federal government each year... There there have been 96 in the last eight months.

That means we're not just falling short of our quota this year, we're reporting the events at a lower rate than usual.

Welcome to the world of globalized, hysterical media.

So Escapists, what do you think is happening to these fish and birds?
Nothing, because they're dead, Okay, maybe they're decomposing a little bit now.

Mass die-offs of animals are not unusual at all, this has been going on ever since whenever. There are stories that date back hundreds of years describing dead birds, raining fish, and so forth. People are just speculating on it more these days because Internet forums encourage people to do so, but nothing has changed.
