I think certain games do define generations, in that they have long lasting acclaim with gamers.Pyode said:I'm totally psyched, but I think "defining game of our generation" is a bit strong. The day and entire gaming generation is defined by only one game is the day I die a little on the inside.miracleofsound said:Only a few weeks to go until the release of what I am hoping (and confident will be) will be the defining game of our generation.
...
Will it be a COD, Fallout and Halo beater?
As for it beating those other game, I doubt it. First of all, RPG's aren't really in competition at all with FPS's, and Fallout is also a different kind of RPG. Much heavier on the role-playing and less on story, so it also has a slightly different audience.
Also, why does it matter? If you like Mass Effect then play Mass Effect. I don't see the relevance of the success of other games.
I didn't say that there weren't games that defined the generations, I just said that the day one game defines a generation, I would have a problem.miracleofsound said:I think certain games do define generations, in that they have long lasting acclaim with gamers.
For example, Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 would be, in my opinion, defining games of the 64-bit generation, with A Link to the Past and Sonic the Hedgehog for the 16-bit gen.
And I don't think we have had that game yet in the current gen. Maybe COD4, maybe Bioshock... who knows. Time will tell what will stay special in gamers' hearts.
Yeah. What?imahobbit4062 said:What...The...FUCK?Eclectic Dreck said:I will play the game. I suspect it won't be the "game of my generation" as that title goes to either Mario or Doom seeing as they brought video gaming back from the brink of death and/or created entirely new ways of playing and demonstrated the potential of the medium to the world.
you did well, Creed FtwSuper_Nintendo_Chalmers said:I'm ashamed to say that I never even played the first one.
I was either going to get ME1 or Assassins Creed for Christmas 07, and I went with the Creed.
I have to agree. I had no huge expectations when I received this game from Microsoft, but once I started playing I was hooked. An amazing universe filled with tons of quests, an intense storyline and plenty of customizable options.miracleofsound said:I highly, highly recommend you buy Mass Effect and give it a try, it's dirt cheap most places and one of the hugest, most fascinating universes ever created in the medium.Super_Nintendo_Chalmers said:I'm ashamed to say that I never even played the first one.

It had a few flaws but was mostly pure awesome.
Just don't bother with it if you don't like talky bits...
