Meh, didn't care for "ME"... just too much nothing going on outside of the main quest to hold my interest... that and the overall "action" aspect of it seemed ridiculously sloppy, even for a BioWare game.

I might try "ME2", just t o see if the hype will grow into anything significant, but I doubt it, all the same. Not looking forward to it, personally.

But, seriously? "Defining game of our generation"? It's a very niche title, fellow, as was the first. I highly doubt it will be the epitome of gaming perfection this console-gen.

I'm looking forward to it, the first one was fun even with it's annoying flaws. However the game of this generation... I don't know that's a bold statement.
More of a question than a statement.

Maybe I should have made that clearer. Oh well. It's still going to be fantastic.

I got ME 1, and I pre-ordered the second yesterday. I don't think the Rachni Queen will have a big place in the game if you let it live in the first, too answer your question.

It will be fun. It will be amazing. I will enjoy it thoroughly. That is all I can really ask for in a game.

I lost all my save games when I switched to Win 7 so I have just about the time to finish it in a way I wanted to play the second one. I'm pretty hyped for ME2. I absolutely loved the first one and even though it had flaws I didn't see them on my first playthrough. I think I'm gonna chose Soldier class in ME2. There are some things they did in Dragon Age that I'd like to see in Mass Effect. Like inventory management and squad members relationship that impacts the game.

Hey, I LOVED Mass Effect, but I doubt it is the defining game of our generation. Somehow, I see the long awaited TES V being it instead.
I can definately live with that.

If it ever comes out...

ME 2 is going to be painfully mediocre, and will only appeal to hardcore fans of the first game, but just barely. Sorry, the truth hurts.

Yeah, lucky I have this amazing thing called a PC which allows to play ALL SORTS of games, it's pretty cool.

I believe it will be one of the best games of this generation, but I don't know if I'd prematurely call it the defining game of this generation. I will say that it has HUGE shoes to fill to live up to Mass Effect 1, which I still feel is the best RPG so far this generation.

Only a few weeks to go until the release of what I am hoping (and confident will be) will be the defining game of our generation.

Edit: The above sentence seems to be getting people riled up, don't take it too seriously, it is a hopeful wish, not a dogmatic statement.

This is a thread for your hopes and thoughts about ME2.

I personally am utterly psyched about ME2, and am hoping for:

Tighter shooting mechanics (I think this has been implemented),

The ability to move a little faster instead of holding 'a' just to get a placebo view change

Choices that are not 'good' or 'bad', but morally grey in a Dragon Age way.

ME1 spoiler:
to see what became of the Rachni Queen if you released her.. I'm guessing they will unite with us against the Reapers

Are the Escapists feeling psyched about it?

Will it be a COD, Fallout and Halo beater?

What improvements would you like to see over the original?

What were your favorite moments from ME1 and do you think they can top them?

Any other thoughts you have about ME2, feel free to post them here, anything goes.
Mass Effect is one of the most boring games I've ever played...

So no, I'm not looking forward to it in the least. If something were to be improved over the first one it's that the game takes itself waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously.

As for being better than Fallout... I hardly think so... Not even close... Zippo chance... Nu-uh... No way.

The problem is that I had massive problems with the first Mass Effect. The exploration was shitty and combat made me want to stab people IRL.

The story and conversations where fun but all the problems were just too great to make it fun. I don't know if I can regain the confidence in the franchise to try ME2.

Defining game of our generation? Well good thing you said not to take it seriously because you had me rolling my eyes with sarcasm there...Still I think it'll be one of the best games of 2010.

On further thought considering games like Mario and Link have been considering definitive of past generations...0o

Maybe it's really not out of reach...lol

Meh, I don't thing anything comes close to how well the morale system in Fallout 3 was...only good was being neutral. Being too good or too bad left you with bounty hunters popping up in the most inopportune time to collect your head.

Plus blowing up Megaton has been the only time I've ever felt bad with a choice I made in the game.

If ME2 comes anywhere near how well the morale system was in Fallout 3 it would be impressive.

Actually I'd find it more interest if they turned against us, it's like "oh shit" Wrex was right...lol

Joining us would be kinda cliche in my book after that speech the Queen gave...lol

I think it's better then Halo already, it pretty much has the same aesthetics and settings as Halo....and they did a better job...ME>Halo

As for CoD, too much hype over the game to make a fair decisions, and you know how I feel about FO3 and this game.

No. No no no no no. No single game can define a generation, because that implies that the entire generation played it and loved it. So, without further ado: I DID NOT ENJOY MASS EFFECT 1

I honestly think it has the potential to be one of the best games out there, if what they say they have changed is true.

ME1 was very flawed but had the most engrossing and interesting universe I've ever had the pleasure of learning about in a game.
e
If they get the mechanics right and fix the nggly little issues, it could be an all time great.
