Bioware's formula for success.

Average Joe/Normal Soldier + Evil creatures destroy world/universe + Nice love intrest/ Bad love intrest + End of the game moral choice = Every game theyve ever made.

Im not going to lie though, aslong as the games stay as good as they currently are, i dont care if its about Space Hamsters fighting the evil Lemonlime empire in space helicopters.

Oh, what a surprise, they're making ME3. Nobody expected this.
Not at all. And considering that picture that was released earlier of the guy with the gun...it obviously must be Dragon Age 2!

Why the hell do game developers hide what they're making, when everyone knows it? It's like Bungie outright saying they're not making Halo 3. A few weeks later, the announcement of Halo 3. It's fucking stupid and all it does is make no one care when they 'officially' release the name of the project...

Sad face. I mean not that I don't want Mass Effect 3, I want it so much I'd sacrifice a leg for it, but all this excitement should be reserved for a new IP.
*holds up a bonesaw* well lets get started then. :)

Well if it's ME3, thanks EA for putting that spoiler out . That is something I would have rather found out in the game.

Taking all bets!*

$1.03 - It's going to be some "two and a half title" like Ass Creed Brotherhood

$1.28 - It's going to be the "First half of a two-part finale" like the Harry Potter movies (and thus the games)

$2.00 - It'll be some new IP

$3.50 - It'll be a multiplayer addon or some new collection of DLC for something in their backcatalogue

$5.00 - Peter Molyneux will make a guest appearance as the 'King of the Grand Reveal' and help out

$1213.18 - It's actually ME 3, no strings attached, no catches, and no bull

*Not actually taking all bets. Totes are UniTAB Market Average. May Differ from RaceTAB NSW and TAB Victoria

I hope Mass Effect three isn't released for another year or two. I haven't gotten tired of the first two yet! I don't see how the clues point to Mass Effect three though. the gun in the teaser trailer didn't really look Mass Effect. However, lowest temp recorded could point to space and atomic mass of iron 2(3)4. The British SIS on the other hand doesn't have anything to do with Mass Effect. Sheperd's not even government sponsored anymore.

Oh screw you, Bioware. This is just horrible. Don't get people excited by hinting to something new and refreshing(as refreshing as Bioware standards go, anyway) and then go "Oh yeah we're doing that thing you've known for three years we were doing. SURPRISE!".

It's getting really hard to like you these days Bioware. Guess I'll still buy your games though, as few enough games stimulate me these days as it is.
We've known Mass Effect three would come out since the release of Mass Effect one.
I wonder if doing sequels will impact Bioware's quality of game.

Why wouldn't the Reapers just destroy Earth?
You, uh, did play ME2 right? If so, the entire last mission (plus the hit-and-run mission on the disabled Collector cruiser mid-game) should suggest one option fairly clearly:

We're their preferred raw material for creating the next generation of Reapers. Destroying Earth would be a collossal waste of food. (Cthulhu saves: he might get hungry later.)

As for the leak/hint/clue/whatever, *squeee!*

-- Steve
So... they're going to use humans as food when there's a whole galaxy full of other food thats just as good? Or are they going to build another human reaper? And even then, whats it going to do? Walk around in space and punch ships? Thats just silly.
Dude! It can have a rocket punch! In all seriousness the end of ME2 made me go wait... wut?

On topic: I hope it's ME3 with an early release date.

How can they say it's going to be a "suprise annoucement" when they have been refering to Mass Effect as "a trillogy" since the first game?! And here was me thinking Mass Effect might actually just make another New Ip, oh well. I guess we should have figured it out by the use of recognisable mass effect weaponry in the trailer...
Yeah, it's such a horrible tease, but not surprising.

EDIT: ME3 could be the red herring. It was at least a 12-18 months between MEs original release and any news about ME2 while BioWare have two high profile products namely DA2 (coming out March/April-ish) and TOR (which has no solid date but probably September/October) which ME3 would draw attention away from. All of this could just be one giant hoax and the VGA reveal is something completely different.
I hope this is right. It would seem really, well, odd for the big release to be something we know about. All I can really say to this is that accidents happen, this might have just been a genuine mistake on someone's part.

Yes, that's what I meant when I said that we've known about it for three years, ME1 came out in 2007(for the xbox, at least). Mass Effect being a trilogy might've even been mentioned beforehand, can't remember.

In any case, sequels won't really affect Bioware's developing quality, they're still a triple-A studio and they do make great games. What keeps on bugging me is that once you find out a Bioware game is in the works, you instantly know what to expect:

1. Some level of squad-based combat.
2. Dialogue with various people and Squad-Members (Who'll most likely remind you of other Squad-members from previous Bioware games).
3. You being "The Chosen One"(This may vary, doesn't look like DA2 is doing this).

So when Bioware is teasing at something new, that might not conform to the blueprint that its predecessors did and then it's revealed that it's exactly what we not only expect, but know is coming, I get really pissed off.

Guess it's a very slight chance that it still is something new. But I don't think so.

I can just imagine if this was the Red Herring and the amount of rage that would insue once we find out it's not Mass Effect 3.

...But i'm totally hoping for Mass Effect 3. Please BioWare?

All I know, is the rifle being held by the man in that picture is strikingly similar to the Incisor in Mass Effect 2, and the face does bear a strong resemblance to the male Commander Shepard.

Even if it's not some new game from Bioware, I'm still happy because I really love Mass Effect. In fact, I'm happy that it's Mass Effect 3 and not some new game. But I think there is more behind this because all this hints and so are a bit too much only for Mass Effect 3. Maybe it has some new multiplayer or something like that, nowadays it seems that every game needs multiplayer.
