"Well unless you want to knock it off with the petty criminal bit." She said in an angry tone. "Now don't get me wrong I trust you, I'm just tired right now and not in the mood for jokes. Good night." Sal sad turning from the Turian and going into her room.

With that, the company split and went to their respective rooms. They had no idea what tomorrow evenings mission was going to be, but they all knew it was going to be big.

The morning came, and Dray was still awake and active. The security mechs weren't protecting the building anymore, but instead, moving crates of weapons and ammo throughout the building. Dray only had a basic understanding of weapons and had stopped bothering to check them soon after they went to sleep. The smell of many cooked dishes hung in the common room, as Dray had been utilizing it for the past few hours to cook meals for everyone. He had made a big breakfast for everyone today. Dishes of different food lined the counter, along with coffee and other hot drinks and small pastries at the end. It was odd though for the company to have such a fine meal cooked for them. Normally Dray would cook a large quanities of only a couple different food types a day, and then store it in the fridge for the company to eat at their own times. To have so much and such a variety laid out at once was unheard of.

A female voice soon came over the intercom.

"Wake up everyone," it was Zar. She was here early today. "C'mon, get up. You guys have a big day today. Dray's made a spectacular breakfast for all of you so eat it while it's hot. Wouldn't want to hurt his feelings now would we? After breakfast, Verahl will give you a briefing on tonight's mission. So let's get started!"

Verahl and Zal soon walked down the stairs. He went to the counter where the food was laid out and took a plate. He started to pile on food; sausages, bacon, eggs, and a range of different fruit soon filled his plate.

"You better watch it Ver," Zar said with a smile on her face as she got herself a cup of tea. "You eat too much and you won't be able to fit into your suit."

"And you're going to stand there and let all of Dray's hard work and effort go to waste? How could you be so thoughtless Zar?" mocked Ver in a lighthearted tone.

Ver sat down across the table from Santius.

"What's wrong with you?" his voice had changed from a tease to his normal cold and calculated speech.

Sal come into the kitchen with her normal quiet attitude wit a simple "Mornin." She looked at all the food and sighed. Sometimes it sucks being trapped in this suit my whole life. She thought to her self as she pulled out a protein paste tube.

Marcus sighed heavily as he walked into the kitchen winging the remains of his cigar into the trash. He had been up for a few hours cleaning and maintaining his weapons and doing light exercise.

He glanced at the collective gathered in the kitchen and said, "Morning children, I just want everyone to know I am very proud that they made it through the mission without having to change their suits if you catch my drift. Anyway what's for breakfast, I'm starved."

Dray knew it would hit him like a punch when he saw her, but he still couldn't prepare himself for the blow of seeing Sal. He knew exactly what she was thinking. The small pause while glancing at the food, and her slightly lowering her shoulder spoke more to him then words could. He felt like he personally failed her. He felt like he had stabbed her in the back. He felt he had made her feel unwanted and unwelcome. Making this meal for everyone else, and having nothing to give for her to eat but protein paste, crushed him. He had failed. He was devastated by it.

The cooking was done and Dray stood beside the counter watching the others. Verahl had begun to eat the mountain of food he had laying in front of him. Dray approached him, each step he took was slow and heavy. He felt like a weight had suddenly been attached to him.

"Uh... Ver-Verahl... Do you mind if I go to the markets for the next few hours? You don't need me around here anymore right? You said yourself the mechs could handle the lifting and everything. I promise I'll be back before me and Mayli have to leave for Illium." he said it so weak and slow, sounding like all his usual cheer and energy had been sucked out of him.

Verahl didn't respond for a short while, he chewed his food methodically, swallowed, then took a sip of juice before finally saying, "Dray, I trust you. How many times do I have to say this. You don't need to seek constant permission from me to do everything. Do what you need and get back here, I have no problem with it."

"Yeah, right, thanks Ver..." he sounded slightly more happy by this, but was still shattered. He walked towards the stairs slowly, dragging the weight of his conscience and guilt with him.

Verahl watched as Marcus chucked the cigar into the bin.

"And you. How many times have I told you that you're not to be smoking down here. Go outside if you're going to do that, but not down here. This is my final warning to you or it's going to be coming out of your pay. Got it?"

He turned back at Santius, and listened to his response.

"With what we have happening tonight, I need you in top shape. If you have problems, talk about them with someone. As I recall Zar knows a good amount on psychology. You're going to get some rest before we leave though. I'm not bringing you out tonight if you can't keep your eyes open in the truck."

Verahl then started to eat.

Is it wrong to love Dray? I personally find his character alone to be one of the most fun things to read that I've seen in a while.
OoC said:
I'll take that as a compliment. I'm trying to give him some depth. His character is a bit depressed. He covers it up by acting all happy and energetic, and trying to keep his mind on things, but even the smallest things can destroy his confidence.

I also love playing him.

Edit: Missed saying it earlier (When I really shouldn't have), but thanks a lot.

"Come on Bossman it's not like anyone is complaining about the smell. Everyone has something they do. Would you rather me down a pint of whiskey a day. If it's really a big deal I will do it on the roof. Dray awesome food by the way."

Verahl put down his knife and fork for a moment, crossed his hands, and stared down towards the centre of the table before he spoke.

"Like I said, do it outside and it won't be a problem. Do it on the transport it won't be a problem. Do it on a mission and it won't be a problem. But down here, it is a problem and a problem you're going to fix. Now eat up, and check your equipment when your done. And make sure it's done properly."

He then picked up his utensils again, and continued eating.

Verahl gave a small chuckle as he heard Santius's remark.

"Don't worry, I wouldn't kill you for that Santius. Maybe cripple you, but you wouldn't have to worry about death. Hell, if you need a little pick me up, I'm sure Saint will be able to provide for you. The man has every type of drug you can find in the Terminus System, but I wonder about where he gets the rest."

OoC said:
In case you don't know who Saint is by the way, he's an NPC. He's listed on the first page in the NPC section.

Sal watched Drey go. "I feel bad about not being able to help him. He really loves his job doesn't he?" Sal said in a concerned voice.

Thanks again. Funny thing about him though, he had very little written about him at first. Originally he was going to be human but we needed a Salarian more then another human. Also, he was going to be a lot less depressive then the final version. The secretary was originally going to have that problem, but I found that having the cook play that would be a lot better. Anyways, wrapping this up so I can sleep, I guess the more you know right?

And I'm too tired to write down what Dray does in response, wouldn't do any character justice right now.

Final note, while I'm not on often Fridays or Saturdays, I should be on almost all of Sunday, so I'll try to get responses going constantly through the day, but you've all seen how much I write for the simplist responses so I have no guarentees. Anyways, see you in... Roughly 6 to 7 hours.

Night.

"I guess so," Elias said, remarking on Sal's comment as he entered the room. "Well, more than I do anyway. How goes it, Sal?"

Once Verahl had finished his breakfast most of the company had eaten theirs. He had another cup of tea and waited for everyone to finish before addressing them all. He stood at the end of the table and silence soon fell amongst them. He gripped the end of a chair as he spoke.

"Tonight's contract is our biggest one yet. We've been hired, along with two other mercenary groups to protect five trucks coming down from the docks to an undisclosed location near the bottom of Omega. Aside from where we start, I have almost no idea what we're going to be guarding, where we're going, and who we're going to be protecting it from. The employer has paid a lot for privacy and we're giving it to him. What these trucks are transporting I can only guess, but with the amount of security being placed on them, it must be damn important. The other two companies will be taking the first, second and third trucks. We will be taking the last two though under our authority. Each truck will have its own driver as well, and a few of the employers own in the back of each ensuring we don't try anything. The employer did tell me though that we should prepare for the worst. He said he's made a lot of enemies over the years, and if anything happened to this transport, he'd be ruined. He guarenteed me we'd be ambushed at some point during this mission, and that even thinking this would go off without a hitch would be delusional. He knows why he hired us though." Verahl now started to grip the chair even harder, and his speech became more passionate. "He knows we're some of the best damn mercenaries this station has seen. In the past year we've had a perfect operational streak, gaining so much and losing so little. He knows that with us the safety is guarenteed and that with us, the words failure or screw up are non-existant."

He paused, letting what he said soak into the company. Everything he knew now they knew, and he was trying to make them realize the stakes of this mission.

"When we're done with this mission, each of you will be recieving 5000 credits. 5000 credits you will all earn. We'll be leaving for the docks in 12 hours. If any of you are interested also, a friend of mine will be showing up in the next two. He's a gun runner, and will try and acquire whatever you request before tonight. Until then, I'll be in my office. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please visit me in a while, but for first, Sindri you're coming with me. The rest of you are dismissed."

Verahl made his way to the stairs and then turned around.

"C'mon Sindri, this is important."

Marcus whistled lowly at the prospective payday. It seemed pretty straightforward with the promise of ambush and he believed that Aegis could eliminate threat cleanly and quickly when it presented itself. Walking the distance to Verahl's office, Marcus mentally ran through his list of materials. "M 76- Revenant, M-490 Blackstorm, new kinetic plates and shielding mods for his armor, and some explosives, a good add-on to his armaments so he would be prepared for anything."

"Boss can you pass this list on to your friend the gun runner, it would be appreciated."
