Aoife jumped back as a man, maybe her age or older approached her from out of the bushes.

?What the hell do you think you?re doing??

Aoife looked at him oddly before realising she had attacked a Pokemon that could?ve belonged to the man. An embarrassed look shrouded her face and she instantly apologized, without thinking.

?Oh my gosh, did I attack your Pokemon? Jeez, I?m really sorry...?

Duncan looked at the distraught little girl, and calmed down, "No you didn't, I apologize for my outburst, it's not often I get something like that to hunt on these grounds, so you caught me a little off guard."

He extended his hand with a warm smile, "I'm Duncan, and it's my pleasure to meet you."

"Uh hi Brandon, I take it from what Magnus just said you were with him when he was traveling Kanto?" Mark said to Brandon a bit nervously.

Aoife smiled and shook Duncan?s hand. He had a firm grip. Ruby and Sumo stood rather protective behind Aoife but she took no notice of them.

?Pleasure?s mine. My name?s Aoife.? She said, returning the smile. ?So, you hunt Pokemon? Like, for food or competition? Or do you hang their heads on your walls? ?Cause if you do, well, it?s creepy.?

I'm taking a few liberties with the structure of the town, hopefully that isn't a problem.

Yeah, great idea. Take a trip to start off the new year. Everyone says how great Johto is, but not that the port town has no fucking affordable hotel. Sylas thought angrily as he left New Bark Town behind him and set off along the route. He had arrived by Ferry late the night before, only to find that there was indeed no place he could afford to stay the night. He had spent the night huddled under a tree on the edge of town, then convinced them to sell him some much needed hot breakfast the next morning.

Now that he was no longer freezing, he was free to stew in anger as he walked. He put his sleeves together and rubbed his hands together inside for warmth, then snagged his foot and fell into the snow. He quickly untangled his hands and stood up, shaking the snow out of his shirt. "What the hell?" He thought out loud, looking for what he tripped on. He found a thin wire, only noticable now that he had disurbed the snow by moving it. Taking the wire in his hand, he followed it a little ways before finding a sentret writhing with it around it's neck.

"A trap line? Really?" He said, pulling out his sword. He tried to get the line right on the sentret, but it wouldn't let him get close. He settled on cutting it a foot long. The Pokemon scampered off trailing the cord. No sooner was it out of sight when he heard somebody shout nearby. Maybe that's my hunter.

He walked in that direction, finally seeing a pair of people, a snorlax and a spinda. I guess misery needs company. "Either of you looking for a sentret?"

Ya it's my usual persona, so I accidentally adopted it; back to Duncan though

"Duly noted," Duncan said, "I do all of those to be honest, though trophy hunting is very rare for me, that Cacnea doesn't belong in this environment; it would have been my first Hoen kill."

He was interrupted by a older teenager walking into the clearing, "Either of you looking for a sentret?"

"Was it on a line, because if it was, then it is my lunch," he noticed the man's sword, "Please don't tell me you just let my latest meal get away."

"Yeah, I did. Sorry about your lunch, I tripped over the line and wouldn't have felt right leaving it. I figured it was a trophy or skin hunter, so I didn't feel so bad about it."

He looked at the sword and hastily sheathed it. He looked between the the girl and the hunter nervously, suddenly feeling awkward. "Uh, I can buy you lunch if you want. I'm heading to Cherrygrove, what about you?"

"Well I was just heading there to sell this worthless land anyway," Duncan said, "I've never been one to turn down a free lunch," He then turned to the teenage girl, "How about you miss, would you accompany us to Cherrygrove, I believe I owe you a lunch after losing my temper."

Aoife had taken Ruby into her arms and smiled.

?Sure, I?d love to.? She replied to Duncan, with a pretty smile.

"Hey Mark, Nice to meet you. Yeah me and him were traveling along with a few other trainers in Kanto." Brandon said shaking Marks hand. "Oh and Magnus, Jeffry was pissed after you left. Lucario had to knock him out to stop him from chasing after you." He said chuckling

Cacnea doesn't belong in this environment; it would have been my first Sinnoh kill.

Just so you're aware... Cacnea is native to the deserts of Hoenn... not Sinnoh. And we're in Johto.

"That would be very much like Jeffrey... Those little antics of his were how he showed that he cared..." Magnus said, holding the 'shiny' Cyndaquil gently in his arms. "I'm really sorry I had left you all like that... I was a selfish jerk."

Just so you're aware... Cacnea is native to the deserts of Hoenn... not Sinnoh. And we're in Johto.

Ya sorry meant Hoenn, and I know we're in Johto, I meant first kill of a Pokemon from Sinnoh, which ends up not being true anyway. Thank you for clearing that up though, too many countries now

"No we understood completely, there are many things in the world that can be faced with friends. But there are things we have to face alone. Dani took it pretty hard but after some explaining she came around. None of us blamed you and would have done the same so no hard feelings." Brandon explained putting a hand on Magnus's shoulder. "No reason to beat yourself up about it."

"Wow I've never actually seen a cyndaquil up close like this before, but something seems different about it? It looks kind of, well sparkly." Mark said in admiration of Magnus' cyndaquil.

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"She's got a different coloration than most Cyndaquil... It's rare, but not unheard of for many Pokemon." Magnus explained. "Both of her brothers are like this as well. Red, is a Typhlosion now, all grown-up, and her other brother, Eon, is a purple Vaporeon. Little Garnet here was hatched two months ago, so she's still young."

As the little Ferry made port just East of New Bark, Magnus could see the small town's beauty in the snow. It was too far South for a real snow, like back in the mountains of Sinnoh, but small flurries dusted the trees a few times every year.

The boat stopped, and people began to disembark. Magnus returned Garnet to her pokeball, and he, Mark, and Brandon got off the boat.

"Brandon... I take it you're going to be traveling with me again?" Magnus asked his old friend. "Mark, you're welcome to join us for a while, if you like. Travel is easier with company."

Well, if I were you... I'd wait until we were at Elm's lab. That would be a good place for you to appear in the story, and Prof. Elm can ask us to keep an eye on you as you get started on your journey. Sounds reasonable, yes?

As the group walked towards Cherrygrove, Duncan realized that he didn't even know who these two people were, "My God, I've been so distracted I didn't even get your name sir," he presented his hand, "Duncan, and you are."

He looked at the lady at his other side, "And you Miss...Aoife, I believe it is, where do you both hail from?"

"Heh, If you don't mind me tagging along again anyway." Brandon said with a smile on his face. "Besides It'll be nice traveling with a familiar face."

"Yeah, at the very least we won't have to worry about learning all that new information again. By the way, Brandon... Which of your Pokemon did you bring? All I brought with me were Quillz, Eon, and Garnet. I'm looking forward to a new team."
