"Heh thanks, I feel kinda weird being so much older then everyone else that got one today." Mark thanked him. "And Magnus didn't you have something you wanted to talk with the professor about?"
Aoife looked around in dismay. Her head tilted towards Sylas.
?I don?t know...? She said.
Aoife turned around and picked up Ruby. Although she gave the look of being constantly dizzy or confused, she was not. This hadn?t really sunk in with Aoife and it usually slowed her down, what with moving with the giant Snorlax as well, so picking Ruby up became a habit of some sort.
?Sorry Sumo...? She said as she tapped a Pokeball against his soft skin.
The Snorlax disappeared, into a red substance, into the Pokeball.
"Yeah, I did have something." Magnus said to Mark. "Professor, my name is Magnus. You have received word of my arrival from Professor Oak?"
"Magnus... Magnus... Right!" Elm recalled. "Are you the same Magnus that my neighbor spoke of? He was about twelve at the time, a boy named Gold."
"Gold? Yeah, I remember him. He lives here?" Magnus asked.
"Yeah, just a couple of houses over. Anyway, what did you want to discuss with me?"
"Right." Magnus pulled out two of his Pokeballs. "I've been doing a little Pokemon Breeding, and have attained some interesting results. A man of science such as yourself will no doubt find them fascinating."
Magnus let out both Garnet and Eon, and Professor Elm stepped back a bit.
"These are..." He stuttered.
"These two Pokemon are the offspring of some of my other Pokemon. These two are half-siblings, in fact. There is one other, a male Typhlosion, with the same coloration as the Cyndaquil, born of the same mother." Magnus called out Quillz. "This is the mother of the Cyndaquil you see before you... Quillz, say hello."
"Typhlosion." Hello.
"This is fantastic!" Professor Elm shouted. "It was my research into Pokemon evolution that led me to discover the details of Pokemon mating. You say that you bred your Pokemon and hatched these?"
"I did, Professor Elm." Magnus said. "Professor Oak suggested that I bring one of my Pokemon for you to study. So I did."
Magnus pulled out a fourth pokeball and released Red. The Typhlosion's brilliant pink-red fur on his back varied with the blue-black of his mother's.
"This is Red. He is the offspring of Quillz, here. I've explained to him that he will be allowing you to study him." Magnus pet the slightly small Typhlosion on the head, and handed the pokeball to Professor Elm. "I'm expecting you to take good care of him."
"Oh absolutely." Elm said gratefully. "He's an excellent specimen. A bit small, but a handsome creature nonetheless. Once I have time, I will start my research."
"I wish you luck, Professor." Magnus said, returning his other Pokemon. "Thank you for your time."
"It was no problem, boys. Now, if there's nothing else..."
"There's nothing, thank you. Goodbye." The three boys left the lab, and went outside to where the brand new trainers were playing with their Pokemon, and battling.
"Hey Eric!" Magnus called to the boy they had met earlier. "You ready for that battle?"
Duncan jumped, "I'm sorry I guess I'm the only one from Johto." He smiled, "I know a place that makes a great Tauros steak my treat of course."
He led them all to a small cafe where a woman took there orders and brought them some pokemon food as well. Duncan let out Houndour and brought Ponyta to the Large Pokemon section so they both could eat.
As their orders were brought, Duncan tried to make conversation, "So you both have an interesting Pokemon choice how did you meet them?"
Hope you don't mind me just inserting myself here?
But Eric seemed preoccupied. A girl stood before him, holding a clear glass bottle with a blue label glued about its body. The white liquid inside sloshed about leaving a ghost imprint on the inside of the glass, as she moved it back and forth. She was waving her arms ecstatically, and talking furiously to match. As the group left the professor's lab, her voice could clearly be heard.
"...milk in Johto, in Kanto- anywhere! Trust me, those other farms? Absolutely ruin you with their expensive milk. Plus, it's not even that great! Doesn't even taste like true milk! Theirs is half chemicals, sugar, and add-on crap. Believe me, our milk is all natural, wholesome, and healthy..."
The girl seemed several years older than Eric, though she wasn't much taller. In fact, she was rather small and boyish in appearance. Her limbs seemed void of most fat and muscle, and her chest flat, though she didn't seem at all malnourished. If anything, she had far too much energy for someone of her size.
In stark contrast, a Tauros hovered over her shoulder, his large face twice the size of his owners'. His body was absolutely covered in tight muscles, his coat with a brilliant shine, and his horns smooth and sharp. His dark mane tickled the neck of the girl, an opposite to her sunny golden hair. As she continued to preach to the boy, the Tauros panted heavily through his large nostrils, almost threateningly so.
"...surprisingly cheap, given the substantial difference in quality!" She smiled, placing a hand on one hip and holding out the bottle to Eric. "So what do you say? $10 a bottle? That's a good price, no matter what those greedy corporate men tell you. This milk came from a happy Pokemon, not one shackled up and strained for the masses. So, how manny bottles did you say you wanted? Three?"
She reached into a saddle bag on the Tauros' side, where the clinking of bottles could be heard, before Eric had even answered.
Just explaining money, it's like real-world dollars, not game money. Just making sure. $80 for a liter of milk? Crazy girl.
"Woah..." Magnus said when he saw the girl with the massive Tauros and approached. "That Tauros is the biggest I've ever seen. His coat is wonderful, and his horns are in excellent condition."
Magnus realized the girl was harassing Eric, and turned to talk to them.
"Excuse me, but I kind of was hoping to battle with that kid right there." Magnus explained to the athletic-looking girl. "Nice Tauros, by the way."
"Ah- Oh! I see," said the girl with a grin that could only be described as competitive. "Got to him first, I see." With an effort, she wrenched her arms free from the saddle bag and packed the bottle away. "But you know... If all that battling makes you thirsty, I've got plenty to drink here, yeah?" Still with a wide grin on her pointed face, she winked to the stanger.
At her side, the Tauros snorted loudly, one of his numerous tails flicking side to side. "And what Minos here means is 'thanks'." She patted the hulking creature on the shoulder, sounding like a few loud slaps. Though the Pokemon, often known for its aggression, continued to stare with an intelligent and brooding gaze, anger was distant in it's eyes.
"So! Let's see a good match then, yeah? Mind if we watch?"
Curses! I've been paying hundreds for water in that game! I'll edit.
"Garnet, I choose you!" Magnus called out his Cyndaquil. A flash of white light emanated from the pokeball, and Garnet appeared from it, her pink-red fur shining brilliantly in the sun.
"Cyndaquil!"
"Garnet, use Tackle!" Garnet began charging towards Calhoun and caught the Pichu in a full-body tackle. "Excellent! Alright Eric, your turn."
Sylas took a few bites before answering Duncan. "Vandal was my first," He gesturing to the scyther in the 'large' section. He was a bit worried that Vandal might start a fight, but such was the nature of the species. "He actually challenged me a couple years ago while I was practicing the sword. It turned out a even match, and he joined me afterwards." He avoided telling how he had actually made it even.
"This is Baron." He said, handing a chunk of food to the cubone sitting next to him. "I met him around my town, I'm told cubone are native there but they still aren't very common."
?I got Ruby, my Spinda, as a present about a year ago. I remember training her every single day until today. I even skipped school on several occasions... Oh, and I received my Snorlax when Ruby was attacked by an Arbok. He wandered over and picked up the Arbok and ripped it apart... Sumo followed me home and tapped himself into one of my Poke balls...?
Aoife crossed her legs as she sat and finished her drink and food. She wiped her mouth in case of any stains.
Duncan took a sip of his drink and enjoyed his steak. He turned to Aoife, "It takes a very special person to cause a Pokemon to willingly give up his freedom." He then turned to Sylas, "And you must be an excellent swordsman to take on a Scyther, they are the best of the best."
The Pichu's cheeks buzzed with electricity, and sent a ray of shocking energy at Garnet, shocking her. The jolt knocked Garnet back, but she advanced again and shook it off.
"Garnet!" Magnus called to her. "Use Quick Attack!"
Garnet rushed at the Pichu, catching it before it could attack.
"Calhoun, use Charm!" The Pichu made a cute face and winked at Garnet, lowering her Attack. "Now use Thundershock again!"
Another ray of electricity struck Garnet, knocking her back. She was getting weakened.
"Use Extrasensory!" Magnus called to Garnet. This was the first time Magnus had Garnet use this technique. She was born with it from her father, but he did not know how powerful hers would be. Garnet's eyes glowed slightly, and sent a wave of psychic energy at Calhoun, knocking the Pichu over.
Squeak, go ahead and have Calhoun win the battle. He's a higher level, and that's what I wanted to happen anyway.
"C'mon kid I'm sure you can beat him, he isn't that tough." Mark cheered Eric on, though he wasn't too sure Magnus was one to loose to an inexperienced trainer.
Magnus saw Garnet rushed with a powerful Voltackle, and rushed over to see if she was okay. Calhoun, the Pichu, stopped glowing with electricity, but the recoil damage of the attack hit the Tiny Mouse Pokemon. However, Calhoun pushed through it, and stood victorious.
"Very well done, Garnet." Magnus said to his Pokemon as he returned her. "Excellent battle, Eric. I'm impressed that you were able to beat me."
Magnus walked over and shook Eric's hand, then tousled his hair.
"You've got a lot of potential, kiddo. I think I'd enjoy mentoring you..." Magnus said. "What do you say, Eric? You want to hang out and travel with a group of Pokemon Trainers?"
