Masters, A Pokemon RP(CLOSED) Chapter 7: Out of the Woods.

Dani usually ate a lot for a girl of her stature, but she held back during breakfast. She didn't want to appear greedy under the circumstances.

Sylas entered the room having just gone for a shower. It made Dani realise how grubby she felt, having not showered in a couple of days. She felt she needed to wash her clothes too, but that could wait, she still had a couple of changes of clothes left.

"I see you didn't shave. IT makes you look rugged and manly" Dani laughed slightly, then looked down a bit. She still wasn't completely at ease around these people, even thought they were all so nice to her.

"Haha, thanks." Sylas said, rubbing his chin. " 'Rugged and manly' is better than 'homeless and scary'. I guess that shower did a lot more than I expected."

"Alright, then." Magnus said, putting on his coat. "Duncan, you ready to go back to the Gym? I'll go with you and watch your battle. After that, I've gotta stop by the Charcoal-maker's place."

"I wanna come, too!" Beth said, putting on her jacket. "I wanna see Uncle Duncan beat Bugsy. He's wanted to for so long."

"Alright, kiddo. Get Adam in his ball and we'll leave as soon as everyone is ready." Magnus said to his niece. He addressed the others in the group. "So, who else needs to challenge Bugsy?"

Duncan smiled. It was time for a battle. He grabbed his bag and his Pokeballs and walked out the door, motioning for the others to follow, "C'mon I got a battle to win today, trust me, you aren't going to wanna miss this one."

"Don't be impatient, Duncan." Magnus said to his cousin. "I don't think that Bugsy will stray far from the Gym, especially since he's expecting challenges from us."

Magnus was busy thinking about his own upcoming battle with the Gym Leader. Bugsy's Scizor had defeated Quillz before, but Magnus was determined not to lose a second time to his brother-in-law. It would take time, but he would make sure that he was able to win for her.

"Anyone else coming to watch? Or are you all going to spend some time in town today?" Magnus asked the rest of the group as Beth walked out with her coat and gloves on.

"I'm coming along." Sylas said eagerly. He slung his backpack over his shoulder, then decided to let Vandal out to walk with them.

"You want to gloat a bit in front of Bugsy?"

Absolutely.

Those who went with Magnus and Duncan walked with them as they made their way to Bugsy's Gym on the south-side of town. Even from Matthew's house, Magnus could see a pillar of smoke rising from the east-side, the familiar plume of the Charcoal-Maker at work.

"Hello?" Magnus called when they entered the Gym. The lights were still off, and the only sources of light were the heating lamps Bugsy kept on at night. Suddenly, the roof-lights sparked to life, and illuminated the forested interior.

"There you guys are!" Bugsy called out to the Trainers, once again standing on a tree branch. "Welcome back, folks. Hey, Beth."

"Uncle Bugsy! Uncle Magnus helped me catch a Pokemon last night in the Forest!" Beth said to her purple-haired uncle. "Look!"

Beth called out Adam, who jumped happily at the chance to be out.

"Hey! You said you saw that when you were out with me, right? Good job, Bethy." Bugsy congratulated his niece. "Alright, Duncan... You ready to go?"

"I'm ready when you are Bugsy," he took Houndour out of her Pokeball, "Lets go Bugsy."

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"Alright, Duncan... I already know what Pokemon you're going to use, so I'm going to make this difficult for you." Bugsy said with a grin. "Surskit, come out and battle!"

Bugsy threw his Net Ball, which contained his Pond Skater Pokemon, Surskit. The little blue Bug-type stood poised for battle, waiting on Duncan to send out his Pokemon to fight.

"So, who is it gonna be, Duncan? Houndour, or Ponyta?" Bugsy asked. "Or do you have someone else I don't know about?"

"Hmmm very smart Bugsy, but this time I came prepared," Duncan sent out Nibbles who did a couple flight laps before settling down for the battle, "Its your move Bugsy."

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"Bubblebeam, Surskit." Bugsy commanded his Pokemon, who fired a blast of high-velocity bubbles from its mouth, which Nibbles deftly avoided. The Zubat then flew in with a Wing Attack, doing heavy damage to the Pond Skater.

 

[Lost In The Void]

"That's it Nibbles, keep with it," Duncan said watching his Zubat doing quite well against the Surskit.

"Use quick attack!" Bugsy yelled and the surskit moved rapidly knocking against the Zubat who flew across the Gym before rising into the air once again, "Alright Nibbles use Leech attack," Duncan commanded and watched as Zubat plunged its fangs into the opponent drawing blood and restoring some health.

"Bubblebeam, again!" Bugsy called to his Pokemon, who fired another blast of bubbles at the Bat Pokemon. Nibbles regained his flight pattern, and swooped down once more for another Wing Attack, knocking out the Pond Skater.

"Surskit, return!" Bugsy called back his Pokemon, sending out another. "Butterfree, use Confusion!"

The Butterfly Pokemon flew from its pokeball, unleashing a wave of psychic energy that knocked the Zubat unconscious.

"Choose your next Pokemon, Duncan." Bugsy said to his cousin. "I'm ready for it."

 

[Lost In The Void]

Duncan returned Nibbles, "Ya did good bud," he said before turning back to Bugsy, "I think you'll recognize this one, go Houndour!"

Houndour growled as she was released from her PokeBall,"Use Flame Wheel," Duncan cried out as flames surrounded both Houndour and the Butterfree as Houndour let loose with a burst of fire.

Sylas stood off to the side with his arms crossed, watching the fight with interest. I wonder how many pokemon Bugsy keeps ready. He could surely be much more formidable than he appears to be.

Standing next to him was Vandal, and his gaze was locked on the gym leader, daring him to call out that scyther again. Vandal was feeling especially proud of himself, and he just wanted to further validate his victory by seeing the other scyther one more time. Perhaps it was spite, perhaps it was a desire to boost his ego, but he was more than happy to simply stand and wait until Bugsy did what he wanted, wearing a little smirk as he did so.

"Butterfree, use Gust!" Bugsy called out to his Pokemon, which whipped up a powerful burst of air and sent it at Duncan's Houndour, who took the brunt of the attack and released a powerful Ember at the Butterfree, burning it badly. "Now! Sleep Powder!"

Bugsy's Butterfree unleashed a cloud of noxious spores, that would render the enemy Pokemon unconscious if inhaled.

 

[Lost In The Void]

"Houdour doge," Duncan said, though he knew it was too late. The spores caused Houdour to fall asleep. Duncan tried to wake him up as the Butterfree continued to hammer the Pokemon with attacks. Finally after seemed what forever Houndour's eyes opened and she began to glow brightly before reappearing as a Houndoom.

Duncan smiled and knew this battle would be his now, "Houndoom, use Fire Spin!"

The Butterfree was engulfed in a spiral of flame, and quickly taken out by Duncan's Houndoom.

"Alright, then... Butterfree, return." Bugsy called back his Pokemon, and grabbed one more ball from his belt. "Alright, my last one for this battle. Heracross, go!"

Bugsy unleashed his Heracross, a powerful-looking female with larger-than-normal prongs.

"Use Rock Smash!" Bugsy shouted, the Heracross flew over to Houndoom, and slugged the Dark-Fire-Type Pokemon with a rock-shattering punch, sending her back a bit.

 

[Lost In The Void]

Houndoom was blasted back by the powerful rock attack, but managed to stand her ground. The strain of the battle was getting to her, but her determination amazed Duncan, the fact that she had evolved for this battle made him not want to make her back down. He smiled, "Houndoom use Fire Fang," Houndoom ran at the Heracross and bit down hard on Heracross, its fangs heating up to extreme levels burning the Pokemon badly.
