Finally after what felt like eons the buyer finally arrived, "You're late," said Duncan raising to his feet.

"My apologies I had to see the land for myself and this winter makes it quite difficult to travel. After seeing it I am willing to pay you the agreed amount. You have the deed with you?"

The two made their deal and Joshua plopped down beside his new companions, "$8000 for a trapline, gotta say I made it good."

?$8000, wow...? Aoife commented, after just putting Ruby to sleep. She tapped the small Pokemon into a Pokeball and gently placed it in her bag. ?So, where are you guys going from here??

"Nice captures, you two." Magnus complimented Elena and Eric. "So, what have you got in mind for names?"

Elena gazed thoughtfully to the new addition to her belt, debating for a long moment. A lightbulb seemed to flicker over her head and she smiled when the thought reached her.

"Hermes," she said to Magnus, seeming pleased. "Hermes it is!"

"Good take." Sylas said to Duncan. He stuffed his hands into his pockets to keep them from the cold. "So, where are you guys going from here?" Aoife asked.

"Like I said, I don't have plans." He felt a sharp poke in his shoulder and turned to face Vandal. He was shivering from the chill. "I already told you what's happening. You're getting used to the cold, you can't be shivering if we need to fight."

"Scy!" he said, and poked him again. Sylas stood up and put on a cruel smile. "You know what? It's on." He drew his sword and swung straight down at Vandal. The blow was stopped on Vandal's left claw. He spun his right arm around to Sylas's torso, forcing a quick sidestep and block.

I'm just filling time until the groups meet. I think this sparring is going to be a regular thing. I won't overplay it though.

That's fine. In the last story, we had a similar situation with another player... although his didn't make as much sense as yours.

"Heh, Hermes is a good name for a spearow, I got to meet a bird trainer when I was staying with my aunt and uncle one summer and he had a fearow, they can be really scary in a battle." Mark said to Elena. "I almost can't wait to find some pokemon I'd like to catch, do you know what kind of fire and fighting types are around here Magnus?"

"I don't think you'll find any of either around here." Magnus said to Mark. "Hold on... let me check my Pokedex."

Magnus pulled out his Pokedex and did a search for wild Fighting-Type or Fire-Type Pokemon in the Johto region. A short list of Pokemon appeared on-screen and a small map as well.

"It says here, that there might be some Heracross nearby Route 31 and Violet City. Also, it says you can find Poliwag on Route 31... Poliwrath is Water-Fighting, so if you're willing to train it and find a Water Stone, then that would be good. Other than that... Not much for a fair while."

"Alright Lilly, Psychic!" Brandon said as Lilly's eyes glowed blue and the fallen tree was lifted in the air. "Jack Psyco Cut!" Jacks arms glowed purple and as Jack swung to blades of psychic energy went flying at the long slicing it into sevral pices. "Good now Lilly, Magical Leaf." Several glowing leafs flew at the pices of log, cuting them into evne smaller pices. "Now Jack Shadow Ball." Jakc put his hands together and a dark ball of energy started to grow. Once it reached a good size, Jack flung the ball at the wood and half of the were obliertaed. "Good, you can put the rest down Lilly." Lilly's eyes returned to normal and the wood dropped. "Good job you two. Looks like the others are done catching their pokemon. do you want to walk or go inside your pokebals?"

"Gall." "Garde." Ball. Both said in unison "Ball it is, Jack, Lilly, return." Brandon said as his pokemon disapered with a flash of red light into their pokeballs.

Duncan sat watching his new friend duel his Scyther, "Good swordplay you two," he said clapping as the two clashed. It was sort of like what happened when him and houndour wrestled though not quite as intense as this

"Alright guys... Let's get going." Magnus said, as the group started walking farther down the road. With everyone's Pokemon returned, the group of Trainers walked through the cold, sunny afternoon.

After a little more than an hour, the group made it to Cherrygrove. The group quickly headed to the Pokemon Center, to escape the cold.

"Finally." Magnus said, walking into the red-roofed building. "The cold here is colder than Sinnoh. It must be the higher humidity..."

"It's like this a lot in Saffron. Maybe that's why I enjoy the cold so much, I'm just used to it." Brandon said shrugging his shoulders.

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"Yeah, but back home when it's thirty-degrees Fahrenheit and sunny, I can play in the snow with my cousins in nothing but a long-sleeve thermal shirt and jeans." Magnus said to Brandon. "Here, thirty degrees is dark, wet, and miserable."

Those with injured Pokemon handed theirs to the resident Nurse Joy to take care of them.

Joshua noticed the new travellers bundle into the PokeCenter. Hearing one of them complain about the cold made him determine he wasn't a local. He had just stayed in a tent for a week for goodness sakes, this man had to be from somewhere else. Feeling the notes burning a hole in his pocket, he again, decided to be nice, "My friend," he said indicating to the shivering man, "Can I buy you a coffee or hot chocolate, you look as if you're going to freeze to death right there?"

"Thank you for the offer, but I'd rather not have you spend your money on me when I have more than I need at the moment." Magnus said the man who approached him. "I'm not that cold, by the way. My name's Magnus, stranger. What would yours be?"

"Duncan and I assure you we must be in the same boat then, I have recently come into a bit of cash and I'll be damned if I know what to do with it," he shook Magnus's hand, "So what brings you to this small town?"

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"What brings most people our age traveling? Pokemon Training, of course." Magnus said to Duncan. "What about you? Do you live nearby, or are you training as well?"

As Duncan spoke with a man, around their age, Aoife had taken out her cell phone and sent a message to her friend. She placed the phone on top of her bag and stared blankly at the wall.

There?s so much to explore and do... So many Pokemon to catch and train... I don?t want too much though, maybe a Roselia and an Oddish or a Granbull... They would make awesome additions to my team. Actually, I think mom had a pregnant Vileplume at home... Oh gosh, that would be so awesome. Oddish are so cute!

Aoife?s long thought was interrupted when her phone vibrated. It hit off her Pokeball and out appeared Ruby. She looked up at Aoife with a mischievous grin.

?Don?t you even think about it.? Aoife laughed, scooping up Ruby and cradling in her arms. ?Go to sleep...?

"Hey Magnus is this another one of your old friends?" Mark said having just came back from leaving Combusken with Nurse Joy.

"I personally live in Azalea Town, though I was camping on my now ex-trapline, when I ran into these two."

Duncan paused for a second, "I'm currently showing them Johto, though I hope to see most of it myself as well, I'm new to this traveling bit."
