*sigh of relief* I was a little worried I was the only other person who read Weis and Hickman/

OT: I remember when collecting pokemon was fun, not a monotonous chore of epic proportions. How about this: instead of adding dozens of new, unnecessary pokemon, they improve on the story or add new features, something to make the games more enjoyable.
Well they were pretty good books.

Good sir that is the exact thought I had while reading this thread earlier in the morning. I think a new game with the original 151 with completely overhauled story and features. Imagine if they didn't have to divert resources to making new pokemon and focusing on making the most polished experience ever. Also imagine all the cash they'd score with the nostaglia older gamers have.

Where do you go after god?Easy, you go R rated. The next Pokemon game will be a global hit, outselling MW2 tenfold.

I think this series has well and truley died out now and they are just flogging a dead horse. The first 150 pokemon were amazing and I was rabid when I first got Pokemon Blue (GB) but c'mon now.

The new designs are terrible they're basing pokemon on toasters and car tires and random geometric shapes *nudge nudge Porygon.* It's like the designers are just letting their kids design for them....

When I was a young'un, there were only 151 Pokemon and we had to hike several miles each day through dense forests populated with Weevils and Caterpies and dodgy effeminate bug catchers in extremely short shorts until we finally got the ability to fly from town to town after much sweat and blood on our part! And don't even get me started on Team Rocket!

1. New idea that will get me shot. An idea I had many years ago, and still think might work... MMO Pokemon. Where you walk around an actual setting finding actual pokemon that take actual work to capture then actually train to take and combat other actual trainers to earn your way up to actual gyms with actual badges and take place in actual events. /sigh

2. For the one whom mentioned MW2 and ME2. I get your point. A few changes here and there, but basically same formula.Fortunately I am not a fan of either series, cause I dont like the same repetitive thing but yet I will still go gaga for FFXIII when it gets here, go buy it, play it for like 50+ hours straight. Then ***** on a forum about how bad it is... which is also why I am in a Pokemon thread I suppose. Shit...

3. I like Marowak.

the tag line is "gotta catch em all" yes?

so if they keep adding new ones even the people creating it wont be able to catch them all, so they have placed themselves in a neverending loop of doom with no break statement.

I stopped caring about pokemon after Emerald was released.

Though that may have been because I discovered EVs after finishing it and then saw Pokemon as more of a chore than a game.

Great... First one is an obvious vulpix/eevee cross and the other is a taller Shadow from Sonic.

Stupid, the second generation was a bit more than enough...

150. Mew wasn't catchable.
/otheroldfogie

Meh. Its a Pokemon game. I'll buy it. Will I enjoy the new Pokemon? Will they replace my Scizor and MewTwo. Something tells me no...
missingno
well i guess he counted...
yes mew was catchable want me to pic upload?
but yeah, the original 150 were great and i can still name each and everyone of them and their type.
my 2 biggest gripes are:
1. theyve changed the numbers on some pokemon.
2. the types dont make sense. (sudowoodo: looks like a fucking tree, but is rock type, thus fire dont do shit)

Looks like a fire/dark type, pretty cool although I'll stick with my usual squad of Gen. 1 pokemon.

I'm sorry but... how is that even pronouncable?

Zoro-ark.

Hmm, sounds terrible and rolls off teh tongue just about as well as, "shitziukilkeslp."
I'm gonna go with Zo-roar-k. and speaking of unpronouncable names, It took me 8 years to find out how to pronounce "Suicune" (apparantly it's "swee-coon") me and my friends called it "Sookinine" up until sometime last year. All because I had refused to watch Pokemon 4 Ever because of it's stupid spelling.
I always called suicine as I saw it suicide with the d swapped out

If they came out with a game like that, I would puchase a handheld system just for that one game.

Mew WAS catchable. You didn't even have to use a cheat code...

This post actually made me hit my head against the wall (Really, really gently but still...), but it's really just because I like pokemon too much I guess...

All the same...

1) Missingno did NOT count as he is a glitch that appears when a pokemon appears that is not supposed to, hence its pictures being question marks or the ghost from RBY that you met in Pokemon Tower before you got the Silph Scope. Also if you haven't worked it out: Missingno = Missing Number
Missingno exists because the code for Pokemon numbers starts at 000[ - however, the game starts at 001 for Bulbasaur. The game doesn't know what to put for 000, hence it's appearancea and moveset.
