I bet that this game will follow the statistic and have less awsome pokemon than it's predecessor, wich didn't have many awsome or even cool pokemons. It may print money, but G** D***! What happened to innovation?

As long as they keep releasing Psychic-types, I'll be ok. I love psychic types. When I was younger, I caught Abra and nearly shit my pants with joy. But they are getting way too excessive, but as long as I can get Gardevoire, I'll be ok.

GO SANDREW
Why you like sandshrew so much? As a kid I couldn't figure out why the thing had bricks on its back... in fact, I still have no idea why they drew him that way. It's a s big a mystery as what the hell's underneath a diglett.
lol my name is andrew, and i thought they said "sandrew" the first time. thats why i like it. and it kicked all the arrogance out of pikachu. that was epic.

Why is there just a picture of a Lucario recolor? I thought this thread said the first of the new generation was out...

I'm beginning to think they're just fucking with us at this point. They know it isn't original, they want to know how long they can drag it out.
I've known that since Luvdisc.

I remember when there were 151. I always hated Pokeymanns somewhat, but my hate remained at moderate levels for the originals.

I can understand adding more and more pokemon for each generation of kids who play this game, but if they're going to do that at least permanently take away some of them because having over 500 for each subsequent generation is a bit much for the average kid.
But in keeping the originals they can keep the nostalgia factor, and you arn't required to "catch em all", so maybe not.

I always thought Kabutops was Scyther's grandaddy. It was pretty neat so they were both my favs.

The first thing that came to mind upon seeing this thread title was the word "Zoroaster," the prophet of that ancient Middle-Eastern religion. Then I realized that that couldn't possibly be the etymological source material for this Pokemon, as that's a real world religion, which these family-friendly games avoid like the plague, with the one exception being that Scientology/Heaven's Gate Space-Cult Team Galactic.

The second thing that came to mind was: "Oooh! It's cool lookin'! I want one!"

The third thing was the realization common to many viewers of this thread: that this new Pokemon is not very original in its design. It's a shame, really. These games doggedly focus on the Pokemon themselves and less on the world around them. I mean, we've gone through four generations and we still have no idea how basic things like government and military work, or if this series takes place on a parallel Earth or some completely fictional planet (there were a few references to the former in the 1st generation, I know).

How about this, Game Freak? How about you keep in the core elements of Pokemon training/battling/catching and exploration intact, but throw a huge curveball on the setting and plot, and maybe introduce some more complex themes and motives than "to be a master?" Here's one idea right off the top of my head: set the next game in the middle of a big ol' war. Have two warring factions: perhaps governments, perhaps crimal Teams, perhaps both, and the protagonist chooses sides or stays neutral, thus making the objective to not only become a powerful trainer, but to stop the fighting and survive in the war-torn countryside. Crap, would you even have to introduce any new Pokemon for that one? Alas, I feel this is all an unwarranted rant, since we know nothing else about the upcoming games beyond speculation and pattern-recognition. I'm no psychic (but you should get the option of being one in the games!) so I can't say for sure if this will be a continuation of the same old problems or the beginning of a glorious new golden age. Or should I say, Gold and Silver age. Ha ha.

So why is everyone hating on this series? Running out of ideas? These new ones look better than most of the originals. And they've added a new mechanic to every generation.
As for they're not the originals: I believe that argument went out the window when the Next Generation became popular. Sorry, but the originals aren't always the best without peers.

It's Pokemon, not Mass Effect 2. People play it for the gameplay; they collect creatures, go through challenges, and generally feel like they've achieved something. It's a kids game and the atmosphere is based around a moderate paradise where the problems of reality, such as physics or basic social structure doesn't exist in favor of a more laid back version with an obvious enemy. Storyline I felt that Platinum was better than Emerald, although that's not saying much. Besides, kids wouldn't get most of those themes if they did that.
In my opinion, we don't need another atmosphere based around war and complex, depressing social problems.

When I was a young'un, there were only 151 Pokemon and we had to hike several miles each day through dense forests populated with Weevils and Caterpies and dodgy effeminate bug catchers in extremely short shorts until we finally got the ability to fly from town to town after much sweat and blood on our part! And don't even get me started on Team Rocket!

You forgot uphill both ways in the snow.
Also I agree completely. I don't mind adding some pokemon to each game but did they have to add so many each time? It's not like every game had to have another 151++++ to catch. What is the tally going to at now? 1,000 Pokemon in the known Pokeverse?

that thing is an abomination, the only good ones were the original ones, now it just looks like they are fusing old pokemon together
