So today I went to the Grocery store with a friend of mine. She stopped to look at some flowers and proceeded to ask me; "Do you think my BF would like these?" And I respond with, "No, he's a guy." And then I got called a prick -_-. So my question is to the men in the audience: would you like to receive flowers as a gift from your girl?

I would like it...

but I think people would be like "wtf???"

and then I'd be like "shut up, I buy her flowers all the time; its a nice change of pace!"

Ignoring what kind of hellish hypothetical universe this would have to be for me to have a girlfriend, I wouldn't like flowers as a gift.

I'd feel obligated to take care of them. I do not appreciate receiving extra responsibility as a present.

Besides, what am I going to do with flowers? Really.

Hell no! That's definitely not a guy thing, ladies you want to get your BF a gift buy him a box of condoms and say "try them out with me".

Er, no. What would i do with them? Unless it was some type of gigantic man eating flower, in which case id try to fight it.

Funny story. I was once asked what my favorite type of flower was. I responded with self raising. I'm very proud of that.

Sure, then I could pretend I got flowers for my mom and give the flowers to her.

Everybody is happy!

meh, most men couldn't give a toss about flowers, I guess the symbolic gesture is nice though. But seriously I think more could be achieved with a crate of beer.

They're pretty and they smell nice. So long as you're not allergic and it might give you some cheer, I don't see why not.

To all those people who say that it isn't a suitable gift: Why care what anybody else thinks if it works for you?

I'm not much of a flowers guy because it's hard to find colours I like (blues/purples - most local flora tend to be sunnier colours) and I don't have a great sense of smell, but I'm not going to pretend I don't enjoy something just because there's a stigma of it not being cool.

Sure, I don't see any reason why not. It would be a nice gesture from them.

I love flowers, and I'd love to receive some.

Might depend on the type of flower, of course (not sure I'd go for tulips or carnations or baby's breath or the like).
