Male. I own two cats, a semi-siamese male and a white female with two different colored eyes, both of whom I adore. They like to lay on top of my lap or stomach while I'm watching TV and keep me company. My dog, on the other hand, just trys to stand on his back legs and claw at me. You can see why I prefer cats to dogs. Also, cats have an entire series of memes they've engrained into internet culture: Longcat, shortcat, tacgnol, ceiling cat, that fucking cat, speedycat, and all the others.

I don't see why it's weird for guys to own cats. Actually, I'd be pretty attracted to that, since I love cats.

Male and 18. The only things preventing me from being a crazy cat lady. I have 4 and I doubt I will ever not have a cat. Unless I had to live in a place where pets are not allowed. So you won't hear a peep from me if a guy owns a cat.

But in a way I get the stigma. Cats are in a great many ways feminine and have been linked to femininity and motherhood from antiquity, through mythology for example.

It's quite alright if a lady thinks I'm weird and/or a homosexual for owning a cat. After all, I'd certainly not be interested in dating the kind of brain-dead trollop that would be beholden to such an easy prejudice.

Nice point of view.

Male, Don't see how owning a cat would be weird or something. I guess since owning a cat is seemed like a feminine thing. Don't see how it's wrong, I also don't know what's so wrong with owning a ferret.

There's only one thing I have to show to people who diss men who own cats.

That is all.

I have no clue why people think that at all...

In saying so, can we insult women for owning dogs?
OH wait no, because insulting any women in any way possible will be deemed sexism.

I think women are just mad because when men own cats, they tend to show much more affection to the cats, than they do to women.

Whenever I reply to threads with more than 5 pages I feel like I am writing to no one.

Anyway, I am male and have four cats (I had just one, but she got knocked up) and three of them are ADORABLE KITTENS and I know they get into all sorts of adorable shenanigans while I am away. I don't think it is too weird, but it is a bit of a stereotype that guys like dogs and women like cats.

Yeah, it's pretty unusual for a guy to have a pussy.

In all seriousness, I'm a guy and I don't own a cat. I don't see anything wrong with having a cat as a guy, but I don't see the fucking point. It pisses me off when pet owners go very far to humanize their pets. Any kind of novelty pet is just a freak of nature, and costs you a fuckload of money especially if it gets sick. Cats aren't an important assistant in keeping your house sanitary any more since you'd have to look pretty hard to find rats and mice in one's house in developed countries where most of the people on this forum live. Dogs aren't used for hunting or for defense, in most cases.

So owning a pet is a bit like owning a plush toy that bugs you, has to be fed, and shits all over the place.

And when it comes to the freak pet owners who own those tiny dogs or super expensive cats that are declawed, castrated, and carried around in a fucking handbag, what the fuck is the point here?

If I ever bother getting a pet, I'd get a bulldog. I love the look, and at least dogs are a bit more lively and interesting then other pets (I have PLENTY of experience with cats, and those buggers tend to be annoying and useless. If you want something warm to sit on you, just get a pillow that can be heated) and I'm sure I could combine my frequent walks and jogs with walking the dog.

That's a really, really bad joke.

Why did I laugh?

(Male, by the way) Anyway. I own some kittehs. And I swear that one of them is actually what you would call a "guardcat". He is freaking huge and would probably eat some dogs.

I love both dogs and cats, and I don't see how owning one or the other makes you seem any more or less manly.

I don't really see anything wrong with owning a cat, and being a male, but what do I know?

I'm allergic to cats, and I prefer a pet that has eyebrows.... which are used to convey emotions.... sort of like a dog...

The fuck? Guys with cats are big targets now? I'd understand guys who watch Cats the musical, but guys who own cats as pets? That's probably the weirdest thing I've ever seen used to insult someone.

I am male. I ADORE cats and therefore have one.
There is nothing weird at all for a male to have a cat. They are smarter than dogs and are lower maintenance.
