Definitely agree with Dark Tranquillity and Opeth. DT have yet to put out a bad album. Never got round to listening to Therion, what are they like?Arsen said:I think that Therion, Opeth, and Dark Tranquility are the best bands out today. No one can undermine these three.
they are more nightwish type styleRusty Bucket said:Definitely agree with Dark Tranquillity and Opeth. DT have yet to put out a bad album. Never got round to listening to Therion, what are they like?
I've been looking into more folk metal recently. Only band i like so far is Equillibrium. I'd like them more if their lyrics were in English instead of German. Any reccomendations?PxDn Ninja said:I'm a huge Folk Metal fan, especiallly from Finland and Sweden. Just saw Turisas in concert with Powerglove and Dragon Force a couple of months ago. Awesome show.
Ah, if you are into any folk metal, check out the following to get started:Rusty Bucket said:I've been looking into more folk metal recently. Only band i like so far is Equillibrium. Right. I've decided that folk metal is possibly the worst invention in the history of anything ever. Take it away please.PxDn Ninja said:Ah, if you are into any folk metal, check out the following to get started:Rusty Bucket said:I've been looking into more folk metal recently. Sorry you feel that way. Folk metal is an awesome branch of the metal genre. I love all metal, but Quest/Folk metal is just too epic. I'll take your helping of it.Rusty Bucket said:Right. Good god, you lucky so-and-so. I've been to see Kamelot three times in as many years, and they never had someone as awesome as Epica open for them here in Florida. D: The coolest opener band they had was this year, a little local opener with an ADORABLE female singer whose name I continuously cannot remember... (If I find the sticker I got from them, I'll post it here).dangerousdave_42 said:heck ya saw them open for kamelot best show everMetalgamer81 said:Then again, I also love Epica... which is about as big and theatrical as it gets.
My favourite power metal band has to be Blind Guardian. Definitely look up a few albums.AngelOfAresius said:Good god, you lucky so-and-so. I'm a fair newbie on the metal scene, but I definately mostly go for power metal. My favorite band is Kamelot, but I also like:
Sonata Arctica
Nightwish
Rhapsody of Fire
DragonForce
Uh....'s all I can think of right now. I know there's more, but hell, I just woke up. =/ Like I said, though, kind of a metal newbie. Before realizing the glory of power metal exists, I was mostly into bubblegum pop. (Shaddup, I'mma girl.)
I would recommend you to check out Nocturnal Rites. they're my favourite power metal band. Look up Never Again, Still Alive and Fools Never Die on YouTube. Vocals are perfect, nothing less.AngelOfAresius said:Good god, you lucky so-and-so. HAH! Blind Guardian, I knew I'd forgotten one...I actually rather like them too. My guy burned me a copy of "A Night at the Opera" and I've been addicted ever since. "Imaginations From the Other Side" and "Nightfall in Middle Earth" are my favourites. Strong Tolkien influence with their lyrics.
Alrighty well they may be debatable as metal but who's excited for the new deathstars albumLukeydoodly said:Need moar discussion![]()
