"infinite replay value"

Hohoho, I forgot Molyneux was the game development equivalent of kind Midas, could this be as revolutionary as... I dunno, Black and White?

It's Seaman with an Eyetoy.

THey'd have to have tens of thousands of words, phrases, terms, and fullsentences recorded, in multiple languages, to make this more than one of those AIs you can chat with on AIM or something similar.

THis is going to be a difficult project, and if they get it right, it'll be great. But no one, not even dedicated AI researchers, have been able to accomplish what this game says it will. Make an interesting, unique, learning AI with audio-visual user recognition, and make it react engagingly and realisticly.

At some point, storage and hardware limitations are going to meet up with the Uncanny Valley, and really drag this game down.

im not really sure its as interactive as it seems, the conversation coiuld easily have been scripted. or at least sections of it.

and Molyneux does seem to talk up his games a bit.

ALso important to note in the Game Trailer's video, that Xbox360 dev kit is not even on.

The tech demo is not running on devkit, nor Xbox 360 Retail, hardware.

I couldn't see this do well as a game, but I could easily see this type of engine be implemented in any number of games. RPG's, shooters, simulations. Could you imagine Fallout 3 or Oblivion with every character reacting to your voice, body movements, and having conversations? It would add a whole new level of depth. That's assuming, however, that the tech can actually do what's shown. It will be interesting to see.

I highly doubt it will happen in an MMO anytime in our lifetime, most likely.
mmm... dude have you got any idea of how technology advances?
Remember the 8 bit era? That was like 20 years ago...
So.. yeah, technology moves FAST. Just saying. Think about that when making the "anytime in our lifetime" comments, those might be seen a lot when talking about medicine and other sciences, but definitely not in software/hardware development.

How will this make games? I can imagine this as a concept idea, but nothing more for now. I just don't see the gameplay into it.
Fable 3: Now interact with all the peasents, and discover every detail of their meaningless droll lives.

Ah, but this is Molenuex we're talking about! Best be warry of his promises and statements!

But in all honest, Milo looks amazing. I do hope that it will do something for more advanced AI and stuff, it seems very cool.

Wow...Milo is pretty damn incredible, if a little creepy.

I'm guessing this isn't going to be a game (but it is PM so you never know) but it a very interesting tech demo, and I can't wait to see what impact it has on games.

I watched it earlier. Pretty creepy. Pedobear is happy though I'm sure. Looks like they made a game for him.
It'd be great if they had a system where they detect if you touch him and the game automatically calls in "To Catch A Predator".

But let's not get caught up in the whole... y'know... factor. Don't forget, you can play in the pond, too!
Or maybe Chris Hansen will just pop up on the screen and tell you to have a seat.

...have people learned to not put any kind of faith\hope in Mr. Peter yet?

The next step in gaming? Seriously?
well, you know what they say, 3rd times the charm

Fable 1: Broken Promises
Fable 2: Less broken promises

He's learning...

We will probably see this on a smaller scale in games, Imagine an open world game, like GTA, and everyone in the city recognizes you, remembers how you went on a rampage and killed their family. And then tries to get even with you, opening up a side story.

The possabilities are endless, if its true

This is pretty cool but I'm more looking forward to see the applications of this technology.

it could be interesting in other games with the npc interaction but I can go in my back yard and put my hands in my pond for real.

Yes. We could easily see something much bigger than this in our lifetime. I have found the gaming industry is one of the fastest moving areas of technology - I mean, just take graphics from, say, 10 years ago. That was fuzzy-felt compared to today.

I can see this working, and I for one am rather excited about it.

And some people are being conspiratal and saying its 'scripted' I dont really understand why Peter molyneux would lie and then just sell a game thats a gamebox then inside a letter saying "HA WE FOOLED YOU LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL"

I mean, this isnt one aspect of a game - this is the full game. Chatting to this guy. If hes smart enough he might even be a way of having a proper discussion with someone. I dont mean to seem like im exaggeratingly promoting it, but from the looks of it you may even be able to befriend this little dude.

I for one, am going to teach him to curse in every language, and flog him every time he gets one wrong. That little prick. He MISPRONOUNCED MERDE! WHAT IS HIS PROBLEM ARGHHHHH...

I am going to wait for more information on this game eagerly. I dont see what the hate on peter molyneux and lionhead is - they are great. I mean, lionhead did the movies, which I love for its surprising flexibility and replayability, and the fact you can, well, create anything you want...Although I wasnt creative, and just spouted out shitty romances and horrors while working slowly on my big budget, long, repepitive series "ALIENZ!!!!one!!!!1!!!!eleven!!!![add on any number from 1-14 here. it was a long series.)

Which pretty much all consisted of star trek ripoff opening scenes, then some dolt traitor letting aliens on the ship, then the aliens pretty much killing everyone, except, like, 5 people, and it ends up in a corridor shootout in which everyone dies, and then a guy in a goldfish costume dances in a saloon for ten minutes. and it is AWESOME.

And Fable 2, which I am TOTALLY addicted to right now.

So, basically, to sum it up, im hopeful for this game. And the guy in the goldfish costume. Now someone get me a cookie becuase this wall of text took ten million hours, so I must give a cookie to anyone who actually reads the whole thing.
