Nope. You keep it simple and binary. You're a princess, ergo you get a prince.
As is the case with MLP, princes are optional. You're elected a princess because of reasons - and largely because merch demands that tropes continue to be codified.

Truth to be told, I didn't wanted to see the spoiler, just to enjoy the "twist" the ending would have.....
So it seems the twist is really weak in my opinion.

I mean I can understand rage about characters being changed (coughSuperiorSpidermancough) but fans need to see the change first before getting in a rage about it. I mean what if it just ends up being nothing more than a costume change and a couple of gags. Or it could open a gateway to exploring the character further in an interesting way. So before all those crazy bronies get in a rage they should take a step back and look

Is anyone else unhappy about Twilight's dress? I feel like everyone's so focused on the wings, and the title, and the destruction of all we hold dear that Miss Sparkle's change in attire has kind of slipped under the radar. I mean, look at this:
The dress doesn't suit her color at all, it's terribly generic, and it looks very inconvenient to get around in. There's that goofy button in front and she's got shirt-sleeves.
Then there's the shoes, which would be fine except that they've got her cutie mark on them. Why? Her shoes don't need to catch the eye. None of the other Princesses's do; their shoes are fairly simple by comparison.
What she should be wearing is something like this:
Simple, austere symbols. This is the normal attire for the other princesses and should be for her as well. She's aspiring to be an unselfish arbiter, not the queen of unfashion.
Anyway. I don't like her clothes. That's about as worked up as I can about this.
