550,000,000 divided by 59.99 equals over 9 million..

there is over 9.1million copies of COD6 out there..
I can believe it though, because I'm one of those who bought it.I bought it for console first and I'll probably buy it for PC later.

I decided a month or so ago, before they even announced anything about no dedicated servers, not to buy it until Activision grows up, and I'm still sticking to that. And, the way things are going, I'm not buying it any time soon.

Sorry, but you need to look at sales on the PC to determine the successfulness of any boycott or not.

If the lack of dedicated servers cost more in lost sales profits than it would have to include dedicated servers, then the free market worked. If the cost of PC-version sales losses was less than the cost of dedicated servers, then Activision made the right decision.

Probably you are right, the boycott did little to influence purchasing behavior, except to make PC owners more aware of the issue. But I also say, there has been enough flames on this subject. Let's please try to keep it real.

It was always going to be a huge success anyway. It's Call of Duty. I'm just content in the knowledge that I personally did not contribute to that success. Screw you Activision, I've got better games to spend my money on.

Okay, I gotta be honest here, the game was good. Matter of fact, its very good. I went to a friends house to play fully expecting to be able to call him an idiot for buying it, and was thoroughly shocked to find that I actually had fun. And trust me, I hated CoD 5, and didn't really enjoy CoD 4, but really, it's a great game 0.o

Holy Jebus, that's a lot of moolah! When i finish my games programming course at uni, I'm working for Activision! (even though their CEO is an absolute ****, trying to drive up sales of games to £55 (roughly $95))

http://www.edge-online.com/news/activision-ceo-would-like-to-raise-game-prices-even-further

Old news, but still very VERY relevant.

I didn't get it, I don't care if it makes more money than god, and if you use catholic god as an example, that's a LOT of money, but they aren't getting my money, switched my preorder to mass effect 2 and haven't looked back. Though with the recent dedicated servers hack I might consider it, just not this year or beginning of next, not with BC2 coming out.

I liked the WWII CoDs, more so the first one, that was real true call of duty.
Its not even call of duty anymore, its fucking modern warfare, i mean what the fuck sellouts.

Im not a big fan of current war games, I think its to early to make these iraq, afganisthan games.
I believe all of two missions are set in Unspecifiedistan, the first and last.

The rest is set in Russia, Brazil and the U.S.

And they didn't "sell out", they wanted to depart from the saturated and stale WWII genre.

PC gaming makes up a small fraction of sales nowadays with so many console owners salivating over this title it's really no surprise at all.
i read some numbers somewhere and you are right i think it was along the lines of
54% of sales came from the ps3
43% of sales came from xbox360 while the 3% left was pc gaming and i think if we had got dedi servers and console control we would have had a quite bit bigger chunk of sales then that

Oh, I have very little doubt that it is a good game. That is not the point. The point is that Activision and Infinity Ward have chosen to make some decisions with the game that I strongly disagree with, and it seems as though this is going to be their new policy from now on, so I've decided to show how much I disagree with their new approach by not giving them any of my money. It's that simple.

And how many people pirated the game.<<<
probably a lot more then actually bought the game because they have set up dedi servers of sorts that are off the table sort of things for people who did pirate the game just type it into youtube.

for those who have never played on pc games before dont look at it and go omg tons of noobtubes because thats just to show the capabilities of a server with console (as in command console within pcs) support which is a great bonus to pcs and which is yet another way in which iw gimped pc gaming for cod6

Haha, knew it wouldn't, I mean a lot of CoD's fan base are casual gamers who don't care about the PC's problems as they're console gamers.

As for me, I just brought it for my PS3

...........damn you

but thats not all right......im not a fan of call of duty franshise so take that
