The ammount of hype, a few boycotters wouldn't be able to stand against it, also, some people still bought it on the pc.

Some people voted for Bush, three times.
Exactly, people went along with the flow, in that case a flow of retards and the uninformed

I think that same flow applies here. It made absolutely no economic sense to purchase MW2, at that price, for the PC. If people could have waited 3-4 months, the price would have come down, and it would have shown Activision that they can't expect to offer less content for more money and watch people eat it up.

But then, I also think that people should vote with their brains and not their asses, so what do I know?
I agree, i only got it on the day because I got it at under half price. Actually I lie, I got it on 360.

I always love listening to the people who got angry about the dedicated server drop, because so many of these people apparently missed reading one of the major reasons why they were dropped: overhead. They were dropped because in the current economy, they were going to be too costly to keep running. Yes, it sucks, but if the company has a choice between keeping them and bankrupting or not, and not, then more power to them.

I love talking to the boycotters and then derailing their entire arguement by asking them, "So wait, you're angry because the company refuses to bankrupt itself for your convenience?"

And watch their heads explode.

I liked the WWII CoDs, more so the first one, that was real true call of duty.
Its not even call of duty anymore, its fucking modern warfare, i mean what the fuck sellouts.

Im not a big fan of current war games, I think its to early to make these iraq, afganisthan games.
What do you mean sell out? WW2 has been milked to death by all warfare games. COD & MoH spring to mind. I know there are several other series out there but I can't remember them

Edit: band of brothers

Imagine the situation if the boycott worked, then Activision would think 'Hmm, noone wants Call of Duty games anymore. Oh well, lets make more Guitar Hero titles instead!'. I imagine there would be uproars of applause and everyone slapping each other on the back in a jovial fashion.

If boycotting things actually worked then why don't people boycott things that are actually annoying, like the bubonic plague or U2?

One day, PC gamers are going to realize that companies aren't putting nearly the effort into the PC market that they were even 3 or 4 years ago.

I love Modern Warfare, but hated Call of Duty 3 and World at War, so I guess I'll be boycotting the ones made by Treyarch.

[Imagine the situation if the boycott worked, then Activision would think 'Hmm, noone wants Call of Duty games anymore]

Well, since the boycott seemed primarily of the PC version, it mean that "Hmm, no one buys PC games anymore"

Haha, knew it wouldn't, I mean a lot of CoD's fan base are casual gamers who don't care about the PC's problems as they're console gamers.

As for me, I just brought it for my PS3
COD, and casual? really? wow

/kills sms_117b from internal hemorrhaging in his own mind.

Console+gamer-negetive comment inbetween=grammatical error. Consoles can not have gamers. they can only have players.

Hmm this seems a bit odd.......
I would expect you to understand the situation by now, but I guess not. This is especially interesting since people have cracked the game and created their own dedicated servers.

You see, dedicated servers don't cost Activision a dime.
They cost the people running or donating to the server money.
A dedicated server, can of course, be run by the company at their own expense to provide better connections. However, most are run by separate individuals not associated with the company.

So why did Activision try to stop this?
Well you see, when you run your own server Activision can't set any restrictions on you. This means you can have user-end mods, maps, etc.

But without dedicated servers where do you host user made maps/mods?
You don't.
Suddenly the company is the sole provider for all things Call of Duty.
Previously Pc players would not pay for DLC Map-packs because we could simply make our own. Furthermore, mods, different rule sets, and the community kept the game fresh.

Why pay for DLC when someone is already producing comparable material for free?

So Activision shut that right down.

Didn't you get a clue when people cracked their way into creating dedicated servers?
Or did you just believe that they were stealing money from Activision with their H4x0r skills?
