Jeez, a bit quick to complain before we even know anything about the game...?

Trailers can be pretty deceiving. Besides which, why is it ok to let players engage in realistic battles in "photo-realistic" world war 2 fights, but not ok to produce a modern replica of a fictional battle?

EDIT : 4444 th post =)
Thats true, and it's just a game, just entertainment, if its ok to turn the darkest days of humanity into a shooting game, then it should be ok to display a fictional event such as this.

Jesus Christ! A shooter tries to do something somewhat newish and it happens to be something people don't like... maybe this is why there are so many nameless European countries in videogames. I'm interested in the "DC explosions" thing as a new setting, thankyouverymuch.

If the apocalyptic events had happened sometime in 2008 and IW put this in as a "fuck you" to America, yes, it would be going too far. However, considering that none of those events have really happened, and the fact that it's a GAME, no it's not going too far at all. Frankly, I'd like to see what a war on our soil would seem like; I wasn't alive during the 1700s or 1800s, so I missed out on those and a game like MW2 seems like it's as good as any to show me what the developers feel would be an accurate aftermath of a large-scale assault on American soil. Finally, Andrew Heining can lick the sweat from both of my balls, as his hypocritical statement was in terrible taste. How do the Japanese and German people feel about American companies making game after game of us dominating them in WW2? I haven't heard any bitching, so why should we?

Too far? No, people just want to censor any and all media they don't like.

Hits a little close to home? Ever read "Sum of All Fears" by Tom Clancy? Old book, similar results to DC.

People need to grow some thicker skin.
Amen to that. As soon as something insults another thing close to their own lives, they get defensive, but...

What would he say if it was say, London burning or other big european countrys.
...exactly this. If it was ANY other place besides the U.S. he could care less. I say more power to Infinity Ward for having the guts to tread ground where few would dare go.

yeah, that scene was pretty awesome.

It's one thing to go to a foreign country to defeat some extremists, but it's something totally different to be fighting to defend the very survival of your country. It's gonna be one hell of an experience.

Oh and it's not going too far. Because I said so. Anyone read the comments on that site? It's almost funny how negative the comments are.

The only way it could go to far, is if, in my opinion, they show rapes or people murdering children, in graphic detail.

Oh give me a break. If you listened to the dialogue oh the two sections you may have noticed something. One section about Kain and Able in which Kain cannot deny he has attacked and killed his brother, and a bit about you not understanding what you are doing because it is not your homeland burning.

Something bad happened because you didn't take the good christian advice to "Turn the other cheek." It also lets us better relate to our brothers who we are at war with. That can help us better understand and love our brothers in spite of our quarrels.

Hell, they should support this.

I love Tom Clancy! One of the best military/spec ops novelists out there.
And in regards to this crap they're trying to pull, I'm just going to say they should grow up.
Clearly they haven't seen fallout 3 where the whole of washington DC is a complete dump, not JUST the Whitehouse. No-one bitched about that, and I think that was alot more anticipated than MW2... though I could be wrong.

They wouldn't care. If it isn't happening to America, they don't care.

Andrew Heining can fuck off. I'm sick of this "IT CAN'T HAPPEN TO AMERICA!" bullshit. Just to make it perfectly clear, he has pointed out he'd be fine if it happened in Eastern Europe. Because that is far away. And because Eastern Europeans aren't allowed to think the same back. Because that would make them terrorists.
There seems to be a trend in WWII games where your killing germans, italians, and japaneese. I haven't yet seen one where you play as the Axis for the main campaign. If that were to happen, there would most certainly be outcry of some sort.

Things like this are usually just someone trying to get attention, nobody takes them seriously. For example The CBC and their Fifth Estate episode: Top Gun. The only time I actually saw any reason to argue was when CoD5 was released on 11/11/11, I personally had no issue with it but, I could understand why it would be an issue to people.

I find it interesting that this "Christian Science Monitor" had no mention on the usage of Biblical References with the whole Cain and Abel story. I thought that it was awesome but, why as a christian wouldn't he comment on that (unless that part wasn't quoted). Seems more of a patriotic statement to me.

That's ridiculous, it's ok to blow a middle-eastern city to hell, but if it's on US soil then it's going to far

HAHAHAHA I love your logic! Thing of beauty right here.

I wish there was a Scientific Christians Monitor where we could publish this response...

If a game showcases a country other than America being bombed to hell, it's ok.

If a game showcases America getting attacked by insurgents, STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES!

Someone please locate the logic in this.

You know what us as americans should do? Shelter ourselves from thinking bad bad thoughts.

I'm an American. I was shocked at all the dumbfounded nitwits who were shocked 'something like this could happen to people like us!' when the WTC incident occured.

No it wasn't surprising, yes it was terrible. But isn't that a little pompous, a little pretentious of us to think that nothing like this could or would (or should for some of you extremists) happen to the US of A?

I am not appauled by this, and those fools who sit on their alters and thrones condemning such blasphemous thoughts against their poltica-ligious beliefs that America is and should always remain depicted as an unharmed unharmable and unstoppable power need a knife to the temple. They're sewing the seeds of complacency and false security. They're sewing the seeds for another incident.

I also think its a little pretentious to 'care what happens to your nations capital.' Not like anyone in that building cares about me as an individual person. Friends and family sure, but bureaucracy itself could give two shits. My country isn't going to topple becauase the easily replaceable 'leaders' of our nation go up in flames. When your government is held together by the people, it stays together by the people. When its held together by the threat of open war and tribes struggling for power, maybe a 'capital asploded' situation might cause some trouble. We the people however, would be fine.

I would have expected something from Faux news by now. I guess they figured out gamers would always bone them in the ass after Mass Effect.
Fear 2 had more sex in it. Hardcore man-rape by a veritable goddess (in power, not looks) > random alien STD contracted whilst in the shower.
