I wonder if they'll raise the price of the map packs with this one, since they did between World at War and MW2. Hmm... actually, I wonder how much they will get up to before the series dies...
I'm pretty sure the real Call of Duty, ya know, when it was fun and moderately original, died a long time ago. They've just hollowed out the corpse and used it as a moneymaking puppet, which isn't exactly something we haven't seen before, considering that quite a few games are like that today (see: Silent Hill: Downpour).

I imagine that Activision would be worried about Battlefield 3 and everything that's been revealed about that, dwarfing CoD's tech and overall performance. Sure, Treyarch did a great job with Black Ops, which fixed the things I found at fault in World at War- but there has to be some fear and or regret for getting rid of Infinity Ward.

I wonder if CoD can really survive without them.

With the main guys from IW gone, I won't be bothering. And frankly, I'm hoping they stop milking this cash cow before it's too late. The games were good when they weren't coming out like bloody Madden updates

"Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and Raven Software. "

sounds like too many cooks stirring the pot if you know what I mean

And is it seriously every other post I have to fill out a captcha?

Prequel is a no-no to cliffhanger endings. Imagine if the next Half-Life game took place back on Xen detailing their attempt to escape from the Combine. Bad idea. And didn't we already get Ghost's backstory in that comic? Thought so.

If it is a prequel, I officially deduct 9,001 points from this game. Prequels are never fun when you already know what happens to everyone. Case in point: Star Wars. All those cool new Jedi are going to be dead by the third movie, so don't get too attached. If it's a sequel, then my hope is restored and I look forward to "Burn[ing] Moscow to the ground."

unless they change the engine / gameplay i couldnt give a rats arse about this game, im sick of the same game with different weapons each year and im not hating for the sake of it, at least treyarch tried to add something different in their games with zombies... still modern warfare $ will make a tonne of money, will get 9.9 across the board, and people will moan like hell about it till the next one comes out... thank god for bf3 thats all i can say

Not this shit again
Take a break activision will you

if infinity ward can still produce a good game and this turn out to be one (which I doubt) then this game deserve to be created and sell well

if not i hope reviewers GET A BACKBONE and give the game the score it deserve so hopefully it will drill some sense into gamers head not to buy the damn game so activision stop making them

I foresee it being a cod game and not being as impressive looking as battlefield 3

I mean do reveals really matter for cod games? everyone knows when they come out, they come out the same time every year and so far they have all looked pretty similar and had almost the same gameplay
Never know, with raven behind the helm there, it could have some pretty good ideas up its sleeve. Wait, I just thought about that for a second. Its an Activision game, its going to be EXACTLY THE SAME AS MW2.

Thumbs up to activision for brining us more £50 DLC and then two thumbs up for slapping the disc in a metal case and adding another £20 to the price tag for the "special edition" and "exclusive content".

CoD fan girls have way more money then sense.

I'ma be too busy having actual FUN with BF3 to care, i'm sure my sheeple friends will be having a tit fit over what an "awesome and original" game it is.

That's if it's actually launching in 2011, which isn't yet confirmed.
Might as well be confirmed, the chances of the COD series skipping a yearly release are probably roughly on par with the chances of the U.S. being conquered by Switzerland this year :p
The Swiss are mad people, you should see their navy!
Don't they have the largest hadron collider that has the possibly to blow up the world... putting it in simple terms anyways

A prequel? Wait, what?!

But what about the whole Makarov thingy?! You can't just leave that behind and do something else!!

I sure, hope that rumour is false -_-
Knowing Black Ops "Historical accuracy" and Modern Warfares overall "realism" I predict it will be markovs great great great grandfather, fighting Napoleon in the First World War.
It will start with the Battle of the Somme, when the American Mech assault was stopped by the new Iranian Migs, move onto the fields at Paschendale, where you and an elite team of SAS destroy the enemys UAV drones supply deposit, Skip to the battle of Balaclava, and the charge of the light tank brigade, where you provide the covering fire from Apache attack helicopters as the Shermans charge Ghengis Khans' Russian Howitzers, and end in the battle of Waterloo, when the Americans led by Patton and armed only with their M16s and Native American Tomahawks (They replace the knives as the overpowered melee kill) fought of numerically greater and better armed foes. And it will be awesome.

the problem was all MW2 did was take the first game and try and outdo the sequences, it turned into a big dumb action movie, which was fun to play but ultimately trumped by its predecessor it didn't try anything new or exciting, its a prime example of why the fps genre is in this rut it's in.

And why everyone should buy bf3/brink/rage instead.
I wasn't talking about MW2 specifically, I was talking about both games.
